The culture of political correctness has run amok to such an extent on college campuses that it has eclipsed students right to free speech. It is clear that universities now value political correctness over first amendment rights. The ironic outcome is that universities that pretend to wallow in the swamp of diversity are the least tolerant and the least diverse institutions on planet earth. These intolerant edicts that used to be issued from the chancellor's office are now issued by students, they have learned to censor each other with two words, "I'm offended." There is little relief in sight because there's a very predictable result, which is that if you allow the ultimate trump card against free speech to be a claim that ‘I'm offended,' then people learn very quickly to say they are offended" at the drop of a hat.

In reality, it is diverse thought and diverse discussion that will truly put an end to the obstinate or unreasonable attachment to a belief or an opinion (such as racism & bigotry). Instead, universities are teaching young minds to be easily "triggered" to feel intense or passionate hatred towards whatever words they deem to be offensive. You would think that a university would allow alternate opinions to be brought forward providing young minds with a full range of critical thought. Instead, diverse thought is met with overwhelming force, a swat team made up of monolithic thought police. It is time to defund most universities and to push back against intolerance.

If you are looking for a University that is suppressing free expression to create some shallow version of political correctness, it is not Brandeis, but possibly Penn State or Point Park University, Pittsburgh:

Penn State passes resolution calling for end to ‘male-specific’ terms like ‘freshman’ & ‘senior’ - 12 May, 2021

Pennsylvania State University is the latest college to make a move towards wokemania, after the faculty passed a resolution getting rid of terms like ‘freshman’ and ‘senior’ for not being gender inclusive.

The Senate Committee on Curricular Affairs at the school passed the ‘Removal of Gendered & Binary Terms from Course and Program Descriptions’ resolution and it was signed by over two dozen professors and administrators, according to a report from Campus Reform.

Under the resolution, terms such as ‘freshman,’ ‘underclassman,’ ‘senior,’ and ‘upperclassman’ are being retired in the name of inclusivity.

These terms are apparently “decidedly male-specific” while terms such as ‘upperclassmen’ can be interpreted as being “both sexist and classist,” the resolution states, arguing that Penn State “has grown out of a typically male-centered world.”

Pennsylvania university tells students 'action could be taken' if they use wrong pronouns

Quote A university in Pennsylvania told students that "action could be taken" against them if they do not respect their classmates’ preferred pronouns.

Point Park University’s Office of Equity and Inclusion notified incoming students of its "Misgendering, Pronoun Misuse, and Deadnaming Policy" in an email first obtained by Campus Reform.

It stated that "any individual who has been informed of another person’s gender identity, pronouns, or chosen name is expected to respect that individual."

It said "action could be taken" if a complaint is filed regarding the policy.

"While the University recognizes the aspect of intent versus impact, we must recognize that regardless of the intent, if an individual is impacted in a harmful way, action could be taken if a complaint is filed," the email states
