Agnotology Study of culturally induced ignorance or doubt. Holy sh!t! Project Avalon is full of agnotologists!
Agnotology (formerly agnatology) is the study of deliberate, culturally-induced ignorance or doubt, typically to sell a product or win favour, particularly through the publication of inaccurate or misleading scientific data.[1][2] More generally, the term also highlights the condition where more knowledge of a subject leaves one more uncertain than before.
    Good one, wavydome!

Thanks Dennis, for indicating some scholarly interest in the matter, headed by a new word, and I hope it reaches some sort of legislative process, (while not holding my breath).

OP: "Fact vs. fake - why don’t we trust science any more?"

Wikipedia:"Agnotology...deliberate, culturally-induced ignorance or doubt, typically to sell a product .... misleading scientific data. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnotology#cite_note-:0-1

Pompous ceremony instead of factuality? Somehow this looses sight of Socrates: "I know that I know nothing worth knowing." Hard to keep such ancient humility in the sciences. Universities and wikipedia need the stamp of authority too, almost to the point where any writer bows their head in self dismay, but this is just the generally needed good-humor.

Wikipedia had to push "climate denial" into their article. I wish them well, but wonder if they will quit hiding "the rest of the story", which leads all the way, to the question of: "what is a fair share", of planetary resources, and how is a share calculated for individual humans, (of the world resources). I like that they encourage study of the subject. ~Bo

I was going to start a thread on this video but I think it will fit nicely into your thread. It's a reading about the concept of "double think" from Orwell's 1984 read by Project Veritas's very own James O'Keefe. The added ambiance of him smoking a cigar by the fireside while reading it is perfect.

It's hard to manufacture ignorance without a dose of double think.
