    Climate change strikes again.

Two more football games stopped yesterday due to supporters having medical emergencies.

Good grief. On a positive note this is waking up a lot of football supporters and their numbers are huge.

After the Liverpool match, one of the journalists in England speaking to the studio team in Australia said something like: "This is happening every week and, without going down the conspiracy route...." Cue those in the studio to say "No, no no...." But it was obvious to everyone. And it should be. But we can't talk about it. I think it's clear to everyone in the stadiums now when it is happening too. I told someone here about this today and how it had been occurring a lot since the vaccines were administered. He said "oh, well, you can't draw that conclusion, and besides, if something like that happened to me I wouldn't expect them to stop playing". I didn't know what to say. Truly staggering.

At least the Inter players didn't kneel for that Marxist BLM shoite.

    But..

    What a song.

Scottish cyclist John Paul just died in his sleep. He was a 28 year old former junior world champion and former member of the GB cycling team.

Another sudden and unexpected death with no cause of death released to the public.

Also Australian 1500m track star Stewart McSweyn's breathing difficulties have been attributed to his recent booster jab.

More sad news from the football world too, the sudden and unexpected passing of Justice Christopher at the age of 40.

AFL is a much higher intensity sport than football. It would be surprising if there weren't any incidents now that the season has started... On the ground, in the stands... I hope there are none at all. But I suppose it is bound to happen sooner or later. I wonder how the media will handle it.

The real lack of backbone in modern Australian society frustrates me so much. A big circle jerk of narrative following fools everywhere you look. It's like they are so desperate to survive and "thrive" in such a cesspool environment that they feel okay with selling their soul in the face of such nonsense. I digress.

Eriksen is showing his quality once again. That is the best story of 2022 for me.

Although I must say, it makes me wonder how he could go through such an ordeal and come back to play like this, while Aguero had to retire completely after experiencing chest pains.

I really respect Bryce Mitchell here (3:33 mark) so much for speaking up like this:

    - During Monday's first stage of the Cape Epic, a rider fell ill and was airlifted to hospital.

    - Cape Epic organisers have confirmed that the rider subsequently died.

    - Very hot conditions have tested the entire Cape Epic field.

Organisers of the Cape Epic mountain bike stage race in the Western Cape have confirmed that a rider has died.

"We share our greatest sympathies with the family and friends of the rider and will continue to offer them our support as they go through this very difficult time. We thank the medical personnel who provided the rider with continuous medical support and care," read an official statement.

During Monday's first stage of the race, at Lourensford, a rider required critical care and was attended to by the medical team before being airlifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The rider later died in hospital.

Quote Belgian cyclist Cédric Baekeland dies aged 28 following a heart attack in Mallorca

    By Matthew Roscoe • 27 March 2022 • 10:48

BELGIAN cyclist Cedric Baekeland dies of a heart attack at the age of 28 during a training camp in Mallorca, Spain.

Mr Baekeland, from the Belgian city of Roeselare, rode for the Boby & Bike-BMB Boekhouding-The Rock Real Estate cycling team and had been on the Mediterranean island since March 12.

Baekeland and his teammates were preparing for the start of the Belgian cycling season, which begins on March 26 in Slypskapelle, Belgium.

However, on March 14, Baekeland suffered a heart attack. He managed to wake up his roommate before he collapsed and was sadly unable to be resuscitated.

According to Belgian news outlet Nieuws Blad, the young cyclist only recently took up the sport after playing football for both KSV Roeselare and Club Roeselare.

An injury stopped his footballing career but he proved to be good at cycling. The news outlet reports that he started in under 23s races as a member of the cycling team Dovy Kitchens-FCC Cycling Team. He stayed with the team for a few years before making the switch to Boby & Bike-BMB Boekhouding-The Rock Real Estate.

This season he would have been a full member of the team, riding in elite races.

At the request of the family, the cycling team does not wish to respond to what happened in Mallorca for the time being, Nieuws Blad reported.

Sadly, the news of Baekeland’s death comes after cycling lost another young rider.

On March 9, it was reported that Scotland’s Commonwealth Games cyclist John Paul died suddenly aged 28. His sudden death was mourned across the sport.

Then on Monday, March 21, the 101st edition of the famous Volta a Catalunya cycling race, which started in the comarca of Sant Feliu de Guixols in Girona, Catalonia, suffered a near-death incident, after Italian cyclist Sonny Colbrelli collapsed crossing the finishing line. Initial reports suggested that he suffered a cardiac arrest.

Colbrelli’s team, Team Bahrain Victorious, issued an official statement at the time: “After the sprint of the first stage of the Volta a Catalunya, Sonny Colbrelli fell unconscious. He received medical assistance and was in stable condition before being transferred by ambulance to the Hospital Universitari de Girona for treatment”, it read.

An update issued by the team on March 22 said: “Our medical team can confirm that Sonny Colbrelli suffered from a cardiac arrest that required defibrillation.

“The cause is still to be determined, and the Italian rider will undergo further tests tomorrow at the Hospital Universitari de Girona.

“Sonny Colbrelli’s clinical situation is good, and we wish him a prompt recovery.”

Top UEFA referee Ovidiu Hategan suffered a heart attack over the weekend, according to reports, leading to him being rushed to hospital in Romania for surgery which saw him fitted with a stent.

Hategan, 41, has officiated in global competitions for a number of years, and most notably took charge of Manchester United's draw at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last-16 last month.

However, he is said to have complained of severe chest pain yesterday, a worrying situation which led to him being operated on by doctors. He will now remain under medical supervision until the end of the week.

Quote Romanian water polo player, aged 23, died during game

    March 26, 2022

The sad news came from Romania. A water polo player of Dinamo Bucharest, Andrei Drăghici, aged 23, died during the game against Rapid Bucharest today.

He felt sudden health problems during the second quarter. According to the available information, he couldn’t swim back to defense, after his team’s attack. He stayed close to Rapid’s goal. A goalkeeper of the home team and other players helped him swim to the edge of the pool. Players of both teams and medical staff tried to reanimate him but didn’t succeed.

Drăghici was born on November 24, 1998, in Oradea.

    Dinamo Sports Club’s announcement:

Dinamo is saddened by the terrible news received this afternoon. Shortly before noon, during the Superliga match between Rapid and Dinamo, played in the Giulești Pool, one of our players complained of a state of illness. With difficulty, he reached the edge of the pool, where he was surrounded by players of both teams.

The medical staff on the scene and those who arrived later following the emergency calls tried for a long time to resuscitate him, but after about an hour, the death was declared.

The young polo player had trained in sports for more than 15 years and had no known health problems.

Dinamo sends its sincere condolences to the family, hard tried by this shocking loss.

We are with the family and we will give all the necessary support.

God rest his soul! Smooth road to the angels!

Quote Sligo community 'devastated' as talented footballer Red Og Murphy dies suddenly aged 21

The news of the 21-year-old's tragic death has sent shockwaves through the local community

    ByClare McCarthy
    20:09, 1 APR 2022UPDATED20:12, 1 APR 2022

A community has been left "absolutely devastated" after a young Sligo GAA player and former Australian Rules player died suddenly in Dublin on Friday.

Red Og Murphy, from Curry in south Sligo, was a talented and well-known footballer who played for the Sligo county team as well as his own local club, Curry GAA.

The 21-year-old was studying primary school teaching at DCU in Dublin and played for the university's GAA team.

The news of his sudden death has sent shock waves through the local community.

Sligo county councillor Martin Connolly, who was also his neighbour, told the Irish Mirror that the local community is "devastated" and "speechless" at the news of Red Og's tragic death and is rallying around to support his family.

Red Og played Australian Rules at North Melbourne for an eight-month stint in 2019 before he returned to Ireland later that year.

He is a former pupil of St Attracta’s Community School in Tubbercurry where he completed the Leaving Cert.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been released.

Tributes poured in for the young GAA player online, with people heartbroken at the loss of a young life.

One person wrote: "So so sad Rip young man condolences to his family and friends at this sad time."

'What's going on': Tennis world stunned after Miami Open carnage

    Riley Morgan·Sports Reporter
    Thu, 31 March 2022, 1:40 am

The tennis world has reacted with shock after both favourites Paula Badosa and Jannik Sinner retired from their Miami Open quarter-finals during the day session.

Soon to be World No.3, Badosa was in tears as she was forced to bow out of the quarter-final after not feeling well against American Jessica Pegula.

On Monday, Badosa admitted she wasn't sure if she could compete in her fourth round match that she subsequently won.

On the men's side of the draw, Italian phenom Sinner was also forced to retire against World No.103 Francisco Cerundolo.

Right after an impressive display to defeat Aussie Nick Kyrgios in the Fourth Round, Sinner was in pain due to blisters on his foot.

Cerundolo admitted it was 'strange' seeing his friend hardly walking on the other side of the court.

"I didn't know anything," Cerundolo said in his on-court interview.

"When I was serving at 3-1, 30-0, I saw him bending down. It was really strange.

"I didn't see anything wrong and I hope he is OK, he is a great player."

Tennis world reacts to bizarre retirement drama

With both Badosa and Sinner retiring in the first set, ticket holders for the Stadium seats didn't witness a full set for the day session.

In total, there has been 15 withdrawals/retirements during the Miami Open.

Fans were left shocked at the double retirement from two stars in a bizarre day of tennis.

However, the Spaniard was in obvious discomfort when she retired sick at 4-1 in unfortunate circumstances for the in-form star.

Badosa — who was World No.71 in the rankings at this time last year — will climb to a career-best World No.3 when the computer numbers are updated on Monday.

Cerundolo, 23, who reached his maiden tour-level the final in Buenos Aires last year, has enjoyed a strong 2022 campaign, winning an ATP Challenger Tour title on clay before soaring into the semi-finals in Rio de Janeiro.

Pegula has spent just three hours and 22 minutes on court in her four matches and will next face Iga Swiatek — who will replace the retired Ash Barty as the new World No.1 on Monday — or Petra Kvitova.

Quote IRONMAN athlete dies in Galveston after receiving medical attention during swim portion of event

    By Ronnie Marley Published April 4, 2022 4:27PMUpdated 4:42PMNewsFOX 26 Houston

GALVESTON, Texas - A participant in the Texas IRONMAN 70.3 Texas triathlon in Galveston died over the weekend.

According to event organizers, the participant, 46-year-old Daniel Miller from Arlington, Massachusetts, required and received medical attention from swim safety personnel who recognized the athlete was in need of assistance.

We're told the man was about halfway through the swim portion of the event when a Beach Patrol lifeguard on a raised platform spotted him at about 8:30 a.m. in the 1.2-mile swim area in Offats Bayou, near Moody Gardens.

Galveston Island Beach Patrol Chief Peter Davis said Miller was actually about four inches below the surface of the water and wasn't visible to other swimmers in the water.

After being alerted by the lifeguard, a rescue team on standby in the water retrieved MIller and brought him to the shore. CPR was performed and Miller was taken by ambulance to UTMB Health Trauma Center at John Sealy Hospital.

Officials said Miller died about an hour later.

Organizers said in a Facebook post on Sunday afternoon, "We share our greatest sympathies with the family and friends of the athlete and will continue to offer them our support as they go through this very difficult time. We thank the swim safety personnel and first responders who worked quickly to provide the athlete with medical support."
