There's been some chatter about this across the interwebs. The Queen has failed to make a series of public engagements lately, and speculation is intensifying as to the status of her health.
Could 2022 spell the end of She Who Reigns Over Us? Are they trying to keep her alive just long enough to make her diamond jubilee next summer - go out with a bang, trumpets blaring? What if she kicks the bucket too soon? Maybe they'll keep her on ice and announce it at the 'right time'. When is the right time to declare one's sovereign dead?
Onawah posted an article about this here, which is worth a read:

Make no mistake though, the demise of QE will be a massive, seismic event across the entire world. Don't doubt official plans are already in place for how the media will handle this, what the government will do, and exactly how the transition of 'power' will be carried out.
The Royal family have never been less relevant in the minds of the public, and their image never quite so low. I really do wonder how the world will react when the inevitable occurs. How will the installation of King Charles III be greeted? - or will it be George VII, or Henry IX? (he's free to choose his own title).
Will a pro-republic movement rise up in the UK?
Possibly interesting times ahead.
