Default Anyone ever been in a movie?

When I was young (19ish) I was an extra in the Pink Floyd movie– The Wall. I had a great time spent a week or so in Pinewood Studios, met the cast and crew and all Floyd band members. Got loads of memorabilia -including a face mask and a original Gerald Scarfe cartoon. One day, wanting alternative food that was not provided on set, I nearly got arrested for wearing a fascist costume whilst walking outside the studios trying find the local café, - I was a bit young and naďve back then I was promptly given a lift back to the film set and a gentle ticking off in the back of a police car.

Still from the film I'm in the middle (arrow)

I seem to have a knack for starting threads that go anywhere

Anyone been on TV instead of a movie ? I was on a hour long arts documentary live on Sky Arts 12 years ago playing drums (djembe) on the 4th plinth in Trafalgar Square ... I'm not sharing that clip though

Also, I've been on a German TV documentary about tasting sessions: sampling ice- wines in a wine cellar (I didn't realise you're supposed to spit the wines out) in the Rüdesheim am Rhein district - don't ask-as I was a tad inebriated at the actual time of filming...

I was invited to be an extra in a christian film series. It was a bit uncomfortable for me, I don't think I would do it again. The set was a Mediterranean restaurant and the first scene we extras were seated at a table chatting and eating. The second scene I did was seated at the bar, drinking and talking amongst ourselves. It was interesting but weird. For a christian themed series, the staff was not very nice. They were very curt with us and there was a lot of extras for both scenes. I imagine it was like trying to herd cats.

Some would argue that WE ALL are writing, producing, directing and starring in our own movies about life on planet earth.

Back in 2010, I was in an aired pilot episode of a potential TV series that was never picked up. That story is here:
It was an interesting experience, in which I learned a great deal about how TV programs are made. Despite being pivotally central to the entire thing, Kerry Cassidy and I barely had any control or say of any kind. The result was in many ways rather embarrassing, and definitely disappointing!

I've also been in a few documentaries — one of which I was very pleased with, though I similarly had almost no input in how my contributions might be used. (In most 'professional' filming of anything, as in the TV episode above, 10x-20x more film is shot than is ever shown.) See this thread, maybe:

In 1989 (I was in the industrial mirror business) I was asked (being a sales- and marketing manager then) by IKEA to make a (15-20 minutes long) documentary about "how mirrors are made", which they then could use in their stores, for the IKEA-salespeople in the stores.

I asked around, getting offers, but it was a very expensive matter (even then) and it would have taken way too long to realise.

So, I decedid to do it myself. After all, I was best placed to know the "how" about the fabrication process. I sat together with the head engineer of the vfactory, wrote "the script", did the filming (I rented a S-VHS camera, then quite semi-professional) for two days, went in a professional studio to have someone edit the film, wrote and gave the comments myself in three languages (so three versions of the film, Dutch, English and French) and had a few 100 copies made. The total cost was 1/4th of the lowest outside offer... and I made it in a week. So, everybody happy. IKEA because they got the documentary so quickly and the company I worked for because it was "low-cost". And I myself, I had a ball with it!

The title was "A World of Mirrors". And I myself was in the movie too, like Hitchcock (LOL). I had filmed myself (just for a second or two), filming (reflected in a mirror sheet about 20 m˛ large).

It was my single "accomplishment" in filming.

Oh, and in 1987 I was "live" in a Flemish TV quiz-programme, "From the Pole to the Equator", as a "specialist" about the Fiji islands. The program-makers had gone to the Fijian embassy in Brussels to ask if they knew someone in Flanders who knew a lot about Fiji. I was the only one it seems. (I had made my MA thesis about the country and had been there for several months in 1985).

There was each time a filmfragment (about Fiji), a two minutes or so conversation about the islands, between the TV-host and myself, and then a few questions for the quiz-candidates; I remember I showed how a "kava-ceremony" was done. Must have been the only time that was "live" demonstrated on Flemish/Belgian TV! Best of all...I got even paid for it (not a lot, but still).

This might be interesting. In the 80's when I was a wee lad in primary school, my Dad was on tele due to a look-alike contest he won as a resemblance to Trapper John, M.D..

My grandparents used to winter in California and my parents went out there for the taping. Months later when it aired, my Mum wanted to tape it on VHS which she did, but the show editors edited her out of the scene. She said she was sitting right next to Dad and for some reason she wasn't on the picture. They were sitting in the front row of a sort of audience frame.

I think Mum was mildly disappointed she wasn't on tele.

I am in a documentary about one of my clients, Timothy “Little Rock” Reed, who is deceased. (I wrote about Little Rock in a post on another thread a month or so ago.)

It is tilted “Little Rock’s Run”. (Subtitled “Americans most wanted fugitive from justice.”)

It premiered at the Taos Talking Picture Picture Festival in 1999 (I think that was the year) in Taos, New Mexico. It was very well received. I have a couple of VHS copies of the documentary. I need to get one of them converted to DVD.

We had been encouraged to enter the documentary into the Sundance Film Festival but we could not scrape together to $35,000 to $50,000 necessary to convert the VHS to 35M film. In those days Sundance only accepted film. I understand that some time back Sundance began to accept entries other than on film.

The director is James Lujan, a USC film school graduate and the director/producer of a number of independent films. One of which is about UFOs in New Mexico called “High Strange New Mexico.”

I am also credited as the producer of Little Rock’s Run.

Very interesting story about Little Rock.

As an artist I love creating (art) films to date I've made lots of videos and animations within conspiracy theory themes.

Some of my artwork I have appropriated images to create mash-up video.

I'm a mature art student after starting my BA studies in my early 50's -(60 next year)

This was my first go in 2009 (clip below) at creating a video that was a reflection the Georgia Guidestones during my first year of study. I created the soundtrack using a djembe and my daughters digitally altered voice.

Quite pleased with some of imagery that's relevant today.

I've learned and exhibited/shown a lot since then and plan to create more propaganda when I commence my PhD next month.

    Images are graphic.
