Sensational Pianist Lucy Stuns Everyone at Leeds Train Station. This is the incredible moment Lucy, a 13-year-old who is blind and neurodivergent, played a highly complex Chopin piece 'Nocturne in B-flat Minor Op.9 No.1', leaving Mika and Lang Lang speechless.

Two of the world's most respected performers, Lang Lang and Mika, secretly watch on as passionate amateurs play the public pianos at train stations.

Congratulations to Lucy, Sean, Danny and Jay on a spellbinding performance last night on the finale of Channel 4’s The Piano.

We continue to be awestruck by Lucy’s ability, and the best part is that we hear her play every single day, which is an incredible honour. Her music is the soundtrack to everyday life at Ravenscliffe, and our entire community is so lucky to have her with us.

Quite rightfully, her teacher Daniel Bath has been recognised for the patience and devotion he has shown to Lucy and her family for over a decade. Daniel is a hugely talented musician in his own right, and also founded Music for the Many, a charity which provides instrumental tuition and other musical opportunities on an equitable and inclusive basis, free of charge, to children and young people. To learn more about their work, or if you would like to support them, please visit their website: music4themany.com.

We would like to also thank The Amber Trust, who have supported Lucy for many years. They are an incredible charity who give partially sighted and blind children the best possible chance to meet their musical needs and aspirations. If you would like to learn more about what they do, or feel able to make a donation to support them in their incredible work, please visit their website theambertrust.org.uk.

If, by any chance, you missed last night’s show (or just want to watch it again, and again, and again!) here is Lucy on stage at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

We are privileged to have played a small part in Lucy’s story so far, and we can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next.

Lucy is playing "Arabesque No. 1" by Claude Debussy.

Watch a very special performance, as the exceptional pianist who won Channel 4’s ‘The Piano’ plays deeply emotional Debussy to an audience of 6,000 in London’s iconic theatre.

Lucy, from West Yorkshire, is blind and neurodivergent. She is taught by Daniel Bath, who joined her on stage.

The performance took place as part of Classic FM Live with Viking. You can watch it soon on Sky Arts.

My only passion in life was (and is ...) MUSIC. My CURSE in this incarnation: I'm not a musician ...

Just today I came to realize that in reality I'm a PUNK! but not in the sense only we all have in mind from this picture: beer ,aggression, etc

But in the sense from transgression, break the "Matrix" molds ,piss on the plastic "reality" and music is a very good vehicle for that! plus the "reveling" text...

My interest in music was about breaking molds , what s the next icebreaker ...no matter what style : progressive rock, industrial, punk, jazz, Drum & Bass ,whatever but authentic, like a punch in your face!

None "commercial", just tra la la...etc.

This "position" in life was always like the Sun for vampires...from my teens...I was the "weirdo" , but always respected for my DJ performances...(from the distance...)face to face rarely connections...

i got used to it, it works as "filter"...

i don't regret anything, and for all of you: Angels favor always THE BOLD!

Finally got to see them in SF. A girlfriend and I went to the Fillmore and were going to watch the show without drinking. It started off terribly, so we decided to have a drink. Well, with each drink the music got better and better. After intermission, Shane was walking straight toward me and just as I thought he was going to puke on me, he turned, passed, and continued down the aisle. We still laugh about it. They put on a great show.

And on a very different note, it's the Beastie Boys of the 2020's:

I have just finished listening to this

“If a man does not keep pace with [fall into line with] his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” - Thoreau

Wanted to say thanks for laying it out Vicus. Like you, music has always been THE THING. I tried my hand at writing for a while but then, you know, you wake up, literally. Probably a good thing, was emulating Charles Bukowski a little too much and things got dark. "That which doesn't kill you" right? But it was difficult to pursue writing after seeing through the matrix.

But music has always moved me deeply. I used to yell at my brother who always wanted to sing along with the songs, "I'm trying to hear the music!" We were like eight. My mother was a concert pianist so I guess it's in the blood. Like you, I always just wanted to hear something new, instinctively I knew music had so much more to offer. Definitely gravitated to the darker, harder, heavier sounds back then, but really just wanted to hear something new, something different, "breaking molds" like you said.

Love the Wire, they were excellent. Don't really have any music I want to post at the moment. But recalling the posts in the Nostalgia thread, it's funny how much I'm enjoying the lighter, cheezier stuff from the eighties lately...
