How did cockroaches survive the dino-killing asteroid strike?

When the rock now known as the Chicxulub impactor plummeted from outer space and slammed into the Earth 66 million years ago, cockroaches were there. The impact caused a massive earthquake, and scientists think it also triggered volcanic eruptions thousands of miles from the impact site. Three-quarters of plants and animals on Earth died, including all dinosaurs, except for some species that were ancestors of today’s birds.

How could roaches a couple of inches long survive when so many powerful animals went extinct? It turns out that they were nicely equipped to live through a meteoric catastrophe.

If you’ve ever seen a cockroach, you’ve probably noticed that their bodies are very flat. This is not an accident. Flatter insects can squeeze themselves into tighter places. This enables them to hide practically anywhere – and it may have helped them survive the Chicxulub impact.

If dinos were once and now they are not, where did the birds come from ?

Although there may be plenty of evidence of that asteroid, and it may well have hit and caused a huge mess, I'm not really buying the rest of the story.

Roaches don't mind dark dank conditions like the ones created, the sun was blocked out by dust and smoke and Just think how much roasted and or rotting food the roaches had o.0

Perhaps the roaches arrived in the asteroids. Ha Ha. They live in your drain pipes, are the size of 1/32" when born, grow to 2". sleep on their backs, and who knows what they eat to allow them to grow to 2". They think your house is their natural habitat and are horrified when you catch them and put them outside. They apparently enjoy sex for an extended period of time and what looks like hundreds of offspring would enable them to survive anything, as long as a male and female survive. However, who knows. They appear to survive absolutely anything including Monsanto. They prefer green natural foods and prefer it to my cooking. What an insult. However, I keep trying. They refuse to leave through the garage door or open windows. I think they know the lizards outside are waiting for them. Alass, I may have to leave first.

Hey you can’t prove that insects and bugs and spiders aren’t bio-spy devices that always and mostly only funnel information to their makers. Something like that would have a version of tech support, probably built in.

I’ve often thought that God collects all that data, stuff like how squeamish or antisocial etc. somebody is, but now I’m seeing that it might be just frickin aliens or something.

I will love them until I see one spontaneously combust or get statistically closer when I whisper..
