I occasionally post this here in hopes that it will help someone out the way it helped me out. When I was in my early to late 20s I was in a very dark place for a variety of reasons ranging from medical problems to substance abuse. I often thought about why my life was so awful even though I lived in the land of milk and honey. After a long time of thinking this through I came to believe my suffering was a result of my perception, something that I can control if I worked hard enough. However, my culture is not conducive to mental well being when you're in a position like I was. There was no users manual on how to adjust ones perception.

This documentary was a catalyst, it pointed me to the right path and helped me change my life forever. I still have hard times, but never like before. I hope it helps someone else out like it did me. Here's a brief preview/trailer:

    And here's the entire documentary:

A sort of remastered version will be released soon, I can't wait for that. Credit to the filmmaker:

    Travellers and Magicians

"Dondup wants a better and different life. He is forced to hitchhike through the beautiful wild countryside of Bhutan to reach his goal. He shares the road with a monk, an apple seller, a papermaker and his beautiful young daughter. Throughout the journey, the mischievous monk relates the story of Tashi. It is a fable of lust, jealousy and murder, that holds up a mirror to the restless Dondup. The conclusion of the monk's tale leaves Dondup with a dilemma--is the grass truly greener on the other side?"

A classic religious/spiritual film from 1943 'The Song of Bernadette' tells us the true story of a poor French girl who apparently witnessed a meeting with a spiritual female being, later thought to be the Virgin Mary and led to Lourdes famous healing spring emerging from the rock grotto she experienced these meetings in.

Leonard Cohen wrote a song, based on this film, also called 'Bernadette'-sang by Jennifer Warnes:
I first saw this movie in my childhood, it made a strong impression on me - I cannot vouch for the veracity, or effectiveness of Lourdes water, but it seems 10's of thousands of people have been cured of their afflictions when visiting this grotto where the spring still flows to this day.
Thnak you for sharing this film, Mike.
I check its wiki on Google:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_So...rnadette_(film)

I didn't watch the film but I listen to the song, very nice.

Thank you for sharing this spiritual film, I watch the brief preview. I admire these Chinese Buddist monks, but I will not agree their life mode. I like my communities much much better.

40 years ago I sat down and watched Koyaanisqatsi - Life out of balance. 'A collection of expertly photographed phenomena with no conventional plot. The footage focuses on nature, humanity and the relationship between them'. - so the IMDb blurb goes.

Produced and directed by Godfrey Reggio, with music by Philip Glass, it introduced many to the screwed-up world we were living in. At one hour 27mins long, it was a relentless montage of images - starting sedately enough with nature and moving with slowly increasing speed through the technological 'advances' (and hell) of mankind. See it through to the end and you will be reeling.

Sorry, I only know how to post the link...I'll have to put my thinking hat on sometime..
