    Is this not a very personal (private) question? ... So how are you so sure we see a correct representation via public voting on this? ... Maybe people who have a drinking problem will not vote!
    Hmmm . I suppose the definition of "problem" might be quite different from person to person.

    ~~~~
    I don't drink daily, but nearly, and I don't like getting "drunk", but I do like my craft beers, making fruit wine, and I have some "hard" kombucha brewing right now. To one person that might be nothing, but to me I would like to cut down a little, so I suppose I could say it's a "problem" for me until I get to where I am more happy with my consumption, even though its not disrupting my life, which would more clearly be a "problem".
    I actually enjoy fermented foods and beverages of all types, and am fascinated by the interesting complexities of flavours that can be developed through the process. Needless to say I'm not a fan of much of "flavoured" drinks but prefer natural, even unfiltered brews - plus, drinking unfiltered, unpasteurized brews can help add probiotics to your gut. There's both potential harms and potential benefits, as there is with most consumables, I suppose.
    The poll is really a measure of how oneself considers their own drinking habit, as there is no objective quantification here. "Regularly" to one person might be a few drinks a week, to another, a few drinks a day. Who is to know? So in light of that I ask, what is the expected way the results are to be evaluated other than an insight to how each participant views their own drinking behaviour - whatever that may be?
    I didn't want to over-think this one.
    As I said up-thread I wanted to keep it simple and unscientific.
    I also mentioned that some will view drinking as healthy while
    others will view it as unhealthy.
    I'm non-judgmental.
    As far as quantity is concerned, it's personal, on a case-by-case situation.
    As you said, to one person, regularly might be once a week, to another it might mean every day.
    The poll is meant to accommodate all of those situations.
    I started with the two extremes and then wanted to just add two choices in the middle.
    For the purposes of 'an overall feel' poll, I think they're sufficient.
    First question... a private question?
    I don't see why it should be private.
    Don't forget, anyone can vote and they don't have to reveal how they voted.
    I am NOT looking for a correct representation, either of the general public or Avaloners.
    I am just looking for a general impression from Avaloners, that's all. Nothing scientific here.
    I did a poll before I believe about the people here who were vaxxed.
    To me drinking is no more personal than being vaxxed.
    Again, if someone feels it's too private, they simply don't have to vote.
    I've never been drunk either, so I can't answer your question.
    I've
    been sober since 3/17/94. Partied my brains out for 25 years/ lost much time/and some dreams, but no real regrets.
    Sometimes when I have a Netflix/Prime watch evening going I need a beer or two, but never more. So I never drink a lot and never have a hangover so I think I have a good control over it. 25 years ago it was different when I was almost one step away from becoming an alcoholic when drank about 8-9 beers every (!) evening (beer = a beer can with 0.5 litres). That was a lot but I managed to get out of it before I fell into the trap. So now it is just the occasional drink without really getting drunk.
    I've been a bartender on and off for 25+ years.
    I used to drink a lot, mostly beer, but honestly I just got tired of being around it and seeing how it affected my patrons, sometimes adversely.
    I don't bar tend anymore either,..had enough of that too. lol
    I still love a good scotch or Irish whiskey, Bass Pale Ale, and damn near any dark beer (lol), but my alcohol consumption has been severely curtailed in recent years, mostly because I'm a social drinker and I don't go out much anymore.
    Except for the previously mentioned scotch, I just don't keep it in the house.
    Nowadays a 6 pack of beer will stay in the fridge for months. lol
    Well, if you were a European it would probably fall some where into the spectrum of "dealing with life" .
    Ooof. That's getting close the level where physical dependence starts to kicks in. I've known people who "needed" alcohol to even remotely function physically, it certainly isn't a nice place to be. At my worst I got up to about 2 liters of beer a day (6 pack of 355ml, never did hard liquor), it was at this point I could start to see the negative impacts and cut it back to a 1-3, and not every day - I have a fairly high tolerance, so I can barely feel anything after even three. I'd like to keep it to just three days a week though.
    Best of luck on working on it, process is goal, and most importantly don't beat yourself up over it - that usually just leads to more drinking
    Water, mostly. Mixed with some carbonated spring water, although the tap water quality is excellent here.
    As the question is really about alcohol, I would say that once in a while I'll have just one drink and it's never beer for me, I just don't like it and I can't consume wheat or yeast anyways without quite the complications. I prefer long drinks, rum with coke or very rarely a glass of wine. I've not been drunk ever and don't really know how a hangover from alcohol feels like, but thankfully my system doesn't really tolerate alcohol or sugars so I should in fact stop consuming any and possibly soon I will. Also here in this gloomy and dark country many people have been or are alcoholics as the spirits become like a crutch or a sweet consuming lover to them. It tends to be partly genetic too, it runs in the family so I wouldn't want to be consumed by that devil either. I've seen what it does to people and it ain't pretty.
    I worked out that I was spending £1,125 per annum on cider. Yesterday I decided that enough was enough and plan to be alcohol-free.
    Geez, that's nothing - I know people who spend a lot more than that on Starbucks. One of the reasons I started brewing some of my own alcohol was for cost considerations ... never tried making cider though, but working on some hard kombucha which would be a bit similar in flavour I think.
    The only issue with home brew is it usually isn't as clean tasting as store bought, and you can lose an entire batch for what appears nothing more than the stars didn't align quite right - which is a bit disheartening when it happens.
    Starting at about 1 hour into this video, whistleblower Dr. Lee Merritt divulges the cabal's plan to infect people with mind control tech via beer.
    (I didn't need another reason not to drink, but if I did, that's a good one... )
    Further in, she talks about urine therapy and research into it's potential for protection from the new toxins in the COVID jabs, etc., repair of damaged DNA, etc.
    (Urine contains stem cells, btw and is commonly used for snakebite.)
    ...
    You know people did not do the same due diligence on this that they would have done buying a used car."
    It's so true! Great line.
    That was a point I always tried to make to people ... "Would you buy a car for your family made from experimental material that wasn't properly safety tested, had no guarantees it would work, and then the manufacturer hid the results of the little safety testing that was done?"
    When you are one step ahead of the crowd, you are a genius.
    Two steps ahead, and you are deemed a crackpot.
    Reminds me of an annual visit to the doctor for a check up. He asked if I drank alcohol and how much.
    I said I drink 6 beers a week. That's fine he said.
    I neglected to tell him that I drank all six on either a Friday or Saturday evening.
    I think we still have a few bottles of alcohol from our wedding - I think there might even be a small box in the garage too! Lol!
    If I move again, I am not taking them with me - no need.
    Maybe once or twice a year I will have a couple vodka and orange drinks. I had a couple drinks on my birthday. I have been so busy with so many things that any drinking would just get in the way and then I would regret the time lost. I have so many things I like to do, want to do again, want to try for the first time, and on and on. Just taking care of my family and the house and our business - I don't ever seem to be caught up!
    I have a few thoughts on a couple threads I wanted to start, but I don't have the time to commit to them.
    Yes, I am on here a lot, but I am doing other things simultaneously.
