Lightbulb SpaceX Is FINALLY Launching Super Heavy To Orbit in July 2022!

    • SpaceX Is FINALLY Launching Super Heavy To Orbit in July 2022!

One question on the minds of SpaceX fans that have been following the testing and development of the Starship is, when will the Super Heavy be launched? The booster rocket, one-half of the company’s next-generation spacecraft, has encountered delays after delays, which has prevented it from undergoing its first orbital flight! However, thanks to hard work by the SpaceX team, the Super Heavy is finally ready for launch in July! What has SpaceX changed to get to this monumental stage?

An unexpected explosion during Booster 7 testing yesterday. (And quite a dramatic one, too)

Impressively, there was no apparent structural damage to the launch mount, the booster itself, or anything around.

An interesting update that explains the unexpected and spectacular launch pad explosion (see the post immediately above), and also presents some evidence that on its first flight — now August or September, no longer July — the booster, on its controlled return to Earth to be reused, might actually be caught by the giant Sci-Fi catching arms that seemed on first announcement to be such a super-crazy idea.

If or when that happens, the spectacle of the thing being caught in mid-air might be one of the most dramatic pieces of space flight entertainment ever seen...
