    Default Boris Johnson is ousted

    ... and not a moment too soon.

    Many readers will be well aware of this already, but it's not yet got a thread of its own, which it deserves. (The topic deserves it: Johnson himself deserves nothing. )

    The best commentary on this which I've seen so far, anywhere at all, is the first 45 minutes or so of this livestream, with Alexander Mercouris excelling at what he always does so very well, explaining the machinations of the British political establishment to anyone else in the world. He is incredulous at the escalating imploding farce which has been British politics in the last 48 hours or so.

    HIGHLY recommended, even for those Brits like myself who know just a little about the UK and its history and traditions. It's erudite, illuminating, entertaining, and (for language geeks like myself) I increasingly delight in Mercouris' creative and expressive use of his very wide English language vocabulary.

    He hasn’t resigned so far, he said he’s going to resign later on this year.
    And knowing how he operates he'll try and avoid even that by finding some way to cling on...

    Wow. I had to look that up and check.

    From the BBC's live updates page, copied verbatim including the BBC's emphasis:

    ~~~
    Here's a summary of the day's events so far:
    • Johnson is currently set to stay as prime minister while a new Tory leader is selected.
    • In his resignation speech, Johnson said he'd tried to convince colleagues it was an "eccentric" decision to change the government and blamed "herd instinct" in Westminster for his exit.
    • The PM has been appointing new cabinet members following a raft of resignations in recent days, including James Cleverly as the third education secretary in as many days.
    • But dozens of government positions remain unfilled as questions remain if he will be able to appoint people willing to do them.
    • The timetable for succession is set to be announced by the 1922 Committee of backbench MPs early next week.
    • But a growing number of Conservative MPs, party grandees and opposition figures are calling for him to go sooner, allowing a caretaker PM to take over.
    • Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has warned the Tories that if they don't get rid of Johnson "Labour will, in the national interest, bring a no confidence vote - because this can't go on".
    • The names of those planning to stand in a leadership contest are beginning to emerge. Attorney General Suella Braverman says she will put her name forward
    • Former health secretary Sajid Javid is also seriously considering a run, the BBC understands.
    Look at this:
    Johnson described as a true friend of Ukraine by Zelensky
    On this most turbulent of days, Boris Johnson has managed to speak to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky "to reiterate the United Kingdom's steadfast support".
    Johnson said the UK would continue to supply vital defensive aid for as long as needed, and to work to try and end the grain blockade in the coming weeks.
    "President Zelensky thanked the prime minister for his decisive action on Ukraine, and said the Ukrainian people were grateful for the UK's efforts," a Downing Street spokeswoman said.
    Johnson finished the call by telling Zelensky: "You're a hero, everybody loves you."
    No humility or apologies in his resignation speech for the numerous lies he's told or Partygate -unforgivable given what we proles were made to endure during lockdown, including the deaths of relatives who died alone in hospital beds, while he and his mates had little jollies in number 10. Good riddance.
    But it's all theatre. He played his part for the WEF et al - an engaging warm-up act (if you fell for his utterly fake, bumbling, charming chaotic-ness) to bring the UK to its knees, so paving the way to a successor who is going to ruthlessly carry out the rest of Klaus's dystopian agenda.
    Could Justin Trudeau share the same fate as Boris Johnson?
    Now that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has resigned, many are asking if Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will share the same fate.
    It has been a tumultuous last few months for Johnson, who has been repeatedly dogged by scandal after scandal while in power.
    Earlier this week, the governing Tories saw numerous high-profile resignations, including 50 ministers and parliamentary aides abandoning ship.
    While announcing his resignation, Johnson told the nation he would stay on until a new Conservative Party leader was chosen.
    “The process of choosing that new leader should begin now. And today, I have appointed a cabinet to serve, as I will until a new leader is in place,” said Johnson.
    “I know that there will be many people who are relieved and perhaps quite a few who will also be disappointed. And I want you to know how sad I am to be giving up the best job in the world.”
    There are many similarities between Johnson’s predicament and Trudeau’s current status in the House of Commons.
    Like Johnson, Trudeau has faced scandal after scandal, with the most recent incident involving RCMP commissioner Brenda Lucki who is accused of trying to interfere in the investigation of the Nova Scotia mass shooting.
    The scandal that seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for Johnson was his appointment of MP Chris Pincher as deputy chief whip despite knowing that he was accused of groping two men.
    Not only has Trudeau himself been accused of groping a reporter in 2000, but his cabinet was also plagued with allegations that former defence minister Harjit Sajjan was aware of sexual misconduct allegations made against chief military brass.
    Conservative MP and deputy shadow minister Tako van Popta took to Twitter to argue that “changes can be made” to the government, citing Johnson’s resignation.
    Others, including the advocacy group Canada Proud, asked Canadians whether they think Trudeau should be removed from office like Johnson.
    Is Brussels that strong?
    Is there anyone left in the UK that really believes in that dead garbage?
    Outside of politics and the dumb revolving door of the defense industry (watch out in case Germany re-arms, which they can't, thanks to suiciding their own industries).
    I assume that the well-being of the people is going to be sacrificed as rapidly as possible for some artificial idea.
    Is there anyone who would like to justify these political units? It is like letting a child play with scissors up their nose.
    Find it too much coincidence once one keeps in back of mind the full Mobilization of UK forces & Civilian Support, announced just a couple of days ago.
    To me it seems like they do not see him as a War-Time PM, too much crap has happened for him to see a bond with the People they need (Civs to die for 'm for instance) and want someone else to do the job, wouldn't be surprised if this comes directly from Lizzy II.
    All true if Ben Wallace gets the job.
    Who's Ben Wallace?
    Quote Robert Ben Lobban Wallace (born 15 May 1970) is a British politician and former soldier currently serving as Secretary of State for Defence since 24 July 2019 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Wyre and Preston North, formerly Lancaster and Wyre, since 2005.
    Before becoming an MP, he was a Conservative list Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for North East Scotland from 1999 to 2003. He stood down in 2003 and moved to Lancashire as he sought selection for a Westminster constituency in England. Following election as an MP and after serving as a backbencher for nearly five years, he was appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Justice, Ken Clarke, from 2010 to 2014. Wallace was then made a whip from July 2014 to May 2015. Following the 2015 general election and the formation of the majority Cameron government, he became Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Northern Ireland Office. In 2016, he was appointed Minister of State for Security and Economic Crime by Theresa May, holding the position until she left office in July 2019. A supporter of Boris Johnson, Wallace was promoted to the senior cabinet role of Secretary of State for Defence, after Johnson became Prime Minister.
    Before politics, he held the rank of captain in the Scots Guards, a regiment of the British Army.
    The following might be indication as to why Lizzy might want him to be a wartime PM.
    Quote Wallace was on duty on the night of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, and was a member of the party sent to Paris to bring home her body.
    Ben Wallace Voting Record.
    BoJo, GoJo, or BoGo? Any portmanteau in a storm, will do ("them's the breaks")
    Some Tory MPs have avered that he may even be gaslighting here, something of which there seems to be a never ending supply - a renewable source indeed - especially since March 23rd, 2020.
    For those not so familiar with Boris' background here is an 8 minute reminder:
    “If a man does not keep pace with [fall into line with] his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” - Thoreau
    The "job" (that of British Prime Minister) is a fully poisoned chalice.
    Any smart British politicians (are there any, besides Nigel Farage?) would be wise to lay very quiet and low for a while and not put their own reputations at risk as well.
    The only way Britain could ever pull out of its steep nose dive is to distance itself from the Ukraine sanctions and all the pro-Zelensky rhetoric (and from all US and EU policies!), and for the PM to visit Moscow to make peace. But the odds of that happening are as close to zero as one can imagine.
    Common sense at last, but we in UK are being manipulated from elsewhere, except folk are becoming aware of ‘hidden agendas’, and ‘The King’s New Clothes’ or lack thereof fiasco is unravelling daily. You can’t fool all of the people all of the time. Why are we paying top whack for fuel when we are selling it cheaper abroad? Just one example. USA exporting their fuel to China!! Grrrrr…
    As a wee aside, I love spoonerisms, and find myself occasionally lamenting the lack of a decent example for Boris (Joris Bhonson.. err, nope), as wonderfully appropriate as the one for cartoon baddie ex health minister, and mostly slime based lifeform, Matt Hancock.
    "The name's Mancock. Hatt Mancock." (In the finest Roger Moore as James Bond accent of course).
    Quote Did you know that Bill Gates private jet flew in to London on Wednesday night ? The same day Javid and Sunak resigned, then within the space of 24 hours so did Boris Johnston. Just another amazing coincidence of course.
