The Washington Times is reporting:
GOP lawmaker calls on ATF to explain video of agents asking firearms owner for gun serial numbers

Aidan Johnston, director of federal affairs for Gun Owners of America, said the incident shows how the federal background check system has been abused and turned into a "de facto registry."
I would say it's entirely inappropriate for the federal government to be checking in on what law-abiding citizens own, you know, what lawfully purchased firearms, Mr. Johnston said. "The background system has turned into a de facto registry, allowing the federal government to check up on who owns what firearms because of ATF unlawful actions.

It's totally against the Constitution and the Right to bear arms and there is no law allowing them to do this. It infringes on the Second Amendment and there are NO CRIMINALS that would acquire a gun using a background check as they get their weapon on the black market for their crimes or steal them.

Shall not be infringed is far too wide a hole. It has been infringed by so many states in so many ways. The ATF have become the tool most political types like to use the most of late. Look at all that silliness over bump stocks. Or the current boogie man ghost guns, so called. The federal background check was always a registry, now it looks like they are using it. More things to ad to the end is close or cons list….x….. N
