Default Zach Bush MD : An Open Dialogue on Glyphosate, Human and Planetary Health

"Yesterday, I had the privilege and honor of joining an expert group of voices to discuss one of the most important topics our planet faces today: glyphosate. I am filled with gratitude for each of you who joined us, to our esteemed moderator Carey Gillam, and our panelists U.S. Senator Cory Booker, Kelly Ryerson, Calla Rose Ostrander and Matt Nicoletti for joining me in this critical conversation.

Since the late 1990s, we’ve seen a direct correlation between the explosion of chronic disease, autoimmune disease, neurologic disease, cancer, and the death of our planet’s topsoils. This acceleration of loss of topsoil is now affecting farms to the tune of two tons lost from every acre in the U.S. each year, which equates to 11% of our GDP. Concurrent to this explosion, we’ve seen the global introduction of glyphosate and other herbicides in massive quantities into our agriculture system, which studies have proven directly led to today’s rise in chronic disease and catastrophic undermining of our immune system.

As a global community, it’s our empowered duty to educate ourselves regarding our food and our health — and therefore to shift our role. The solution is not to ban things, but to build a cooperative system that supports our farmers in their transition towards a non-chemical dependent agricultural system. To effect real change, it's going to take every consumer, every stakeholder across our food systems, and every industry that influences our agricultural sector. We must form a global agreement to reintegrate back into nature and train our farmers and physicians to more fully understand life within the context of Mother Earth.

One of the ways we do this is by seeking out places and communities where healthy dialogue, inquisitive curiosity, and bridge building can rise. Here are two immediate ways you can join this mission and take action:
