When I watch Rex, I usually skip his "Adverts" then get to the point of the show.

Anyhow - yes, there are holes on the sea floor, etc, even sometimes spotted on google Earth software as well.

The holes are there for a reason. All that plastic garbage junk circulating in the ocean, where do you think it goes? The great garbage patch should be as large as one of the oceans on this planet by now... but it isn't.. so why is that?

    Think about it.

Perhaps these were caves excavated when the sea bed was above the surface, as in 'land' that was sunken in previous cataclysmic events, maybe these holes were vertically placed but have been displaced?

Caves? The texture of the surrounding sand is apparent, which puts these anomalous divots at at most a few centimetres. I read the source text used here, at phys.org iirc, and no mention of scale. Sounded like an April fools joke.

Maybe there is something under there like a sunken sub and the sand has moved over it. Now the sand is sinking into it along a weak line that has deteriorated?
