Kindness is the Greatest Superpower

That deserves to go in The Great Quotes thread — though it was said to me just recently in an email from a close friend of mine, someone who used to be an Intensive Care nurse. And many Intensive Care nurses surely have to be some of the most wonderful, kindest people on the planet.

It's still a Great Quote. I immediately wrote it down. It's absolutely true.

Kindness melts the walls of fear so we can come together in trust.


Kindness repairs our differences, so we can see we are all on the same side.


Through kindness we can protect the innocent, but never damage another for no real reason just because we can.


We love to see kindness when observing animals that have huge hearts and unconditional love towards their loved ones and with people they interact with.


I hope if there is a reset, it comes through the harmonics of the heart to be tempered and made to serve in joy and care in all we create with a conscious evolution for all the earth.

Same thing with smiling at someone, go up to any person young, old, friend or not, and just walk up and smile at them , don't say anything and they will smile back . We did that in a mall once and walked up to total strangers, it was hilarious. And as for animals and little kids, thats the most unconditional love if there ever was. And its up to us to protect them .

Its pretty cool when you do kind things for others and you get that energy feeling coming thru your 3rd eye and down your body. It is who we are.

I have always held kindness as the trait I most desire.
I search myself daily to ferret out my pervasive self centeredness which stifles any kindness in me. My self centeredness keeps popping up in different places every day. I try to keep weeding it out. It’s a never ending process.

I see simple kindness in others to others and I’m always awed.
There are moments in my life where someone has been kind to me when I really needed it.. often a stranger and a small act, and I have NEVER forgot them.
The impact on me of those seemingly small random acts has been profound. And most will never know. But I do.
I hope I have made those moments in others lives..and I will never know. But they will

When we bought our property over 2 decades ago, our next door neighbor was an ICU nurse at the local hospital. He and his wife were the best neighbor we ever had, always jovial and willing to help if we ever needed it. Years ago he has since moved away to be close to his grand daughter in Georgia. We trusted them enough to let them have our house key in case of emergency.

I assume we are talking about all this within a true world of integrity, right ?

That world is fast becoming swamped by a fakery world where there are multiple fake versions of everything including kindness. We have an adversary trying to erase the world of integrity.

A wise statement like the OP kinda has to come with a disclaimer these days just in case it's interpreted as being a reference to one of the multitude of flipped ass backwards spiritual trickster versions.

Well, actually, the adversary has got that covered too, by offering a fake 'superpower' to go with it as well

Hello Everyone I don't often post but wanted to put something here about Random Acts of Kindness, to sit along side the thought that Kindness is the Greatest Superpower.
I remember a complete stranger in the car ahead of me paying my toll to travel across the Forth Road Bridge in Scotland (when tolls were still charged). I thanked him with my heart, and paid the toll of the driver behind me... I have never forgotten, and it really made me think.
And another, much more recent Random Act of Kindness, involving being towed round the corner to safety, off a flooded dual carriageway, in a torrential rain storm, by a complete stranger. He actually came out of his nice warm, dry, house specifically to do it, because his daughter had arrived home and told him there was a poor woman stuck in 'that bit of the road where it always floods'. All I know is he didn't need to do it, but he did, and none of the cars passing me stopped. A modern day 'Good Samaritan' called John. Thank you John

I agree with you, norman. Any claim of “greatest superpower” that doesn’t offer comparisons, is probably fake to some degree.

As a comparison, I present US Navy Sonarman (ret.) Arron “Jive Turkey” Amick, stating why he thinks the US Navy is the greatest superpower. ~8O

The thread was meant to be a little inspiring. Many members here, enduring significant difficulty or unhappiness, may benefit from some kindness. And many here embody and share great kindness, maybe in ways that some other members never get to see.

Kindness is compassion. Compassion is love energy in action, focused and directed to other entities. The opposite of love is selfishness, so it's pretty hard to fake (for anyone 'evolved' enough to discern the difference.)

"superpower" – it was nice for the intensive care nurse to say; but is it not a very loaded and dangerous word these days...?

Kindness is the politeness of the sincere.
Kindness is weaponised love.
Kindness connects forever.
Kindness births kindness.
Kindness heals the other being's wholeness.

It seems I have somehow ran afoul of Poe’s Law, perhaps by relying on too uncommon an emoji (~8O) to signal my intended humorous insincerity.

My post was not meant to lionize the USN, as should be obvious to anyone who watched the vid. Maybe my mistake was in assuming that folks here would understand how a vet (Amick) could have fun at the expense of his branch.

Amick has described how he went through some tough years since he left the boats, fighting inner doubts and depression, struggling to make a new life for he and his wife. I have watched his submarine content for a couple years, and to me he hasn’t a mean bone in his body. That vid (my post above) gave me joy, that he would let loose like that.

I have heard many military men say that they respect enemy warriors, while denouncing the intent to war. Neo-Nazi/fanatic combatants notwithstanding, this is my personal feeling.

Well, Bill, I guess it’s true that “humour that needs explanation, is neither prescient nor effective/brutal”.
Humour is, however, one of the things that might qualify as ‘tough love’, which seems to be a subset of kindness.

Kindness DESERVES it’s own thread, and thank you very much for it. I was dismayed that that beautiful pic of the momma spider lovingly carrying her numerous “nopelings” was placed in the derogatory thread about animals, instead of in Animals are Magical!.

The act of a simple kindness can change e-motion in a heartbeat.

Kindness can mean different things to different people. Many people are very empathetic and compassionate an it is hard not to feel the pain of other around and can be quite distressing sometimes.


It isn’t about caring what others think about you at all, it just feels like the right thing to do in that moment in an unexplainable way.


As a quiet shy child and growing up, I never knew any kind of standard or even thought about kindness, it just came naturally, like many members here I think. I did have good parents though.


Often, even in kindergarten and very early years of grade school, I would see children that were considered slow or they were overweight or just not the popular children and feel how unhappy and alone they were, just out of place. I didn’t know what to do when they were sad or bullied so I would just go stand near them and be with them for a while. I would never tease them and felt their pain when they were taunted by others and would stand between a child and a verbal bully not having any idea what to do, but some simple words would always come that seemed to end the confrontation.


I never really thought about those actions until much later in life. A few of those people as grown adults with partners and children of their own actually went out of their way and sought me out to thank me and let me know how much it meant to them and how that kindness made them feel, and they carried that feeling with them.


I know many members here are the same, with deep compassion and empathy for others, even though sometimes it is painful to feel so much. But this is just a reminder of how simple things can change someone’s life and you may never know what a difference you have made without even being anything but who you are.
