    So yes, there's a chance the soviets may have felt the need to make a move, so as to push Putin into a corner and cause him to act hard and end things now one way or another. But, this is a playing with fire scenario, the soviets are still powerful behind the scenes, but everyone knows who they are and where they have their pieces, it would be fatal to play this game and get found out. I'm not sure they want to go that route at all at this time
    I'd even add a little more emphasis to that... I'm as sure as I can be that they'd absolutely not want to go down that route. It's way way too dangerous. It has to be 99% certain this was Ukrainian (and/or US/UK) special forces.

    One thing that will be very very interesting is what Zelensky will say.
    Zelensky quoted and paraphrased in the following -

    Read the FOX News article - https://www.foxnews.com/world/daught...outside-moscow

    I can't bring myself to copy and paste it (I see the article as disgusting).

    The setup is an impending "double" false flag on the Ukrainian nuclear plant in Zaporizhzhia. Russia will blame Ukrainian shelling but the west will paint the picture it was Russia (since they are a.) in control and b.) armed with a retaliatory motive).

    As Blll said above "90+%" and for me, likely closer to 100% than 90%.

    I've reached a kind of personal tipping point of anger and disgust today.

    I'm confident that the Russians will handle everything carefully, rationally, and effectively. They almost always do. But it's not pleasant to see the so called 'first world' of the west disgrace itself over and over again in such an appalling way.

    I'm close to saying that many of the citizens of the US, Canada, and the EU/UK deserve all that will be inevitably coming to them.

    This is off-topic here, and I've posted this elsewhere. But I'm as sure as I can be that the US, Canada, and the EU/UK will implode faster and faster before our very eyes over the next 6-9 months. The tragedy is that millions will suffer, and tens of thousands will die.

    RIP - Darya Dugina

    Some voices on the death of Darya Dugina:

    Car blast kills daughter of Russian philosopher Dugin - RT.com
    Investigators suspect an improvised explosive device was used

    A powerful explosion ripped apart an SUV near Moscow on Saturday night, instantly killing its driver, identified as Darya Dugina, the daughter of Russian political commentator Aleksandr Dugin.
    ...
    Earlier on Saturday evening, Dugin was giving a lecture on ‘Tradition and History’ at a family festival in Moscow Region. His daughter attended the event as a guest. Unconfirmed reports say Dugin initially planned to leave the festival with his daughter, but later decided to take a separate car, while Darya took his Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.
    Dugina was a political commentator and daughter of the veteran Russian philosopher, known for his staunch anti-Western and ‘neo-Eurasian’ views.
    ...
    Western media has painted Dugin as a driving force behind President Vladimir Putin’s foreign policy over the past decade. In recent months, CBS dubbed him “the far-right theorist behind Putin’s plan,” while the Washington Post called him a “far-right mystical writer who helped shape Putin’s view of Russia.”

    In Russia, the supposed shadowy puppet master is largely considered to be a marginal figure. While he has served as an adviser to several politicians, Dugin never enjoyed official endorsement from the Kremlin. In 2014, he was fired from his position at Moscow State University, after critics interpreted his call to “kill, kill, kill” those behind massacres in Ukraine, such as the Odessa tragedy, as a call for a genocide against Ukrainian people.

    The US think tank RAND Corporation wrote in 2017 that despite Western media reports of Dugin’s alleged “ties and connections” to the Russian leadership, he is “perhaps best thought of as an extremist provocateur with some limited and peripheral impact than as an influential analyst with a direct impact on policy.”

    The Assassination Of Alexander Dugin’s Daughter Darya Was A Dastardly Terrorist Attack - Andrew Korbyko

    This targeted assassination that was indisputably influenced by half a decade’s worth of fake news about that philosopher shows the deadly consequences of America’s information warfare campaign. It also confirms that the declining unipolar hegemon’s proxies in Kiev are truly state sponsors of terrorism who must accordingly be treated as such by the international community. This dastardly terrorist attack threatens the legitimate rules-based order enshrined in the UN Charter and thus confirms that the US is deliberately sowing the seeds of chaos in a desperate last-ditch attempt to erode Russian morale after the slow but steady advance of its forces over the past half-year of its special military operation.

    The attempted assassination of Dugin which instead resulted in the killing of his daughter, was part of the increasingly demented propaganda and infowar of a desperate and crumbling U.S. proxy Putsch regime in Kiev in lieu of success on the battlefield of which it is incapable.

    The killing of "Putin's brain" who "inspired" the Russian intervention in the Ukrainian civil conflict would be celebrated by Kiev regime propagandists as a "victory". It does not matter in the slightest that none of it is true.

    It doesn't matter that in reality Dugin has never met or spoken to Putin. It doesn't matter that his unique ideas had zero influence in the Kremlin and little to none in the rest of Russian society. In doesn't matter that to the contrary the Kremlin got Dugin fired from Moscow State University and banned him from government media because of his strident views on the Putsch in Ukraine at a time when the Kremlin was pushing the Minsk accords to resolve the civil conflict there.

    The truth doesn't matter because Dugin has been blown up as a caricature bogeyman in the minds of the West and Putsch-controlled Ukraine. And his assassination would thus still serve as a propaganda victory, in spite of it's complete divorce from reality.

    In this, the Western media which caricatured and inflated Dugin and the Western governments which nonsensically sanctioned him are fully complicit in the murder of Darya Dugina, his daughter.

    Some folks in Kiev and London will have to pay a high price for this ugly deed.

    I've been waiting for Alexander Mercouris, the best geopolitical commentator on the net, to make a comment.

    He appeared on one of Gonzalo Lira's round tables here. The stream is still live, but Alexander expresses his opinion about 38 mins in from the start.

    His main point so far is that it was a catastrophic mistake by whoever orchestrated this. They may have no idea how determined and resilient the Russians are. (my paraphrase)

    Some more from Russian news articles:
    [extracted]

    Who is Daria Dugina?

    Beauty Daria Dugin was born in 1992 to the family of the philosopher and political scientist Alexander Dugin. His daughter followed in the footsteps of her famous father, graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at Moscow State University and worked according to the will of her heart.

    After studying, Daria got a job in radio, worked as a political observer and lectured. And in recent months, she actively supported the special operation in Donbass in word and deed. It is known that in the autumn it was planned to publish a book about the special operation in the Donbass, co-authored by Dugina.

    Meanwhile, the journalist spoke with Russian soldiers and militiamen of Donbass, supporting the goal of demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. As Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, said:
    This was especially evident during her trips to the Donbass, when she made live broadcasts from Mariupol and other places. It can be seen that she was not only imbued with the pain, suffering and experiences of people living in the southern Russian lands, but also understood how to win faster, how to free the land faster and build a peaceful life.
    Daria Dugina was a patriot

    The daughter of Alexander Dugin did not hide her patriotism, and last week, for her active socio-political position, together with her father, she was included in the sanctions list of Europe and America. Meanwhile, the Investigative Committee of Moscow concluded that the murder of Daria Dugina was ordered and well planned.

    A touching tribute from international journalist Abbas Juma.

    ~~~
    My dear sister, how can this be? I have known her for so many years. She never asked for anything, she always gave, helped, and supported. She was always so glad to see me. She was so sincerely interested in what was happening all around, she always asked questions so precisely, she thought and did so much.
    Rest in peace.
    Deepest condolences to family and friends.
    I can not believe it...
    In his update for today, Alex Christoforou, who leaves all his customary humor out of this and is clearly as shocked and angered as I feel myself, speaks about Daria's murder in the first 8+ minutes of the video.
    Below is a link to a very long page which publishes a large number of posts from Russian social media. It's a selected sample, of course, but I'd be certain it's a good representation of the shock and anger felt throughout Russia.
    It's way too long to copy, and the auto-translation is sometimes a little patchy. But some here may find it very worthwhile and intertesting to read.
    The Russians are measured, cautious and deliberate in their responses to just about everything. But the sheer strength of feeling in the country will compel them to act decisively once all the facts of the incident are known.
    I am not shocked, or angered at the recent developments of the day. One may think there are rules to war; and one might become excited or angered when it seems that the rules are not followed. The Hague and Geneva might set some of the guidance; and some bad actors might be held to account 'after the fact'; but the truth is, no one follows all of the rules all of the time. There typically is no such thing as a fair fight. No matter how honourable a side might project themselves to be: they still do not follow all of the rules all of the time. America consistently errs on the side of honour and look at their disgusting track record for decades [for example].
    The truth is indeed ugly. This is the absolute basis for the beginning of white-lies. People who take the time to be honest with themselves are most likely to change for the better; to be able to present the better truth as opposed to the ugly truth.
    The search for the truth is not an excuse to be impartial. At some point, a person will choose sides. It is inevitable. The lessor of two evils is indeed a choice. Some of the best managers and tacticians understand this component of decision-making.
    If Aleksandr Dugin was the primary target [which is highly probable], the mission failed. If Ukraine is responsible [which is still unknown at this time] they failed. They did not 'cross some line'. Russia is not going to just 'open a can of whup @ss' over it. Decision-makers will do their job and act accordingly. When one thinks about the media, the media's job is to incite emotion. Only a person has personal control over themselves whether they will be moved or not over the presentation. We know the Russian is one to be patient, for a long time. [All good things in due time.]
    So I am not surprised of the attack 2o kilometres from Moscow. What I am surprised with is no one has taken credit for the attack. Usually, terrorist type attacks are quick to claim credit. The clandestine; however, is a different story. They are designed not to take credit. If the clandestine elements are involved, there will be little to no signature of the device attached to the vehicle. The investigation will turn up empty and unsatisfying.
    On Thursday of last week I bumped into someone at the pharmacy and they guessed I was american and a guest here in Ireland. We were talking small talk about politics a little and he said 'yester-day is history and to-morrow is a mystery' which got me thinking a little. Turns out that is part of a quote from Bill Keane.
    Ex-Russian MP claims Russian partisans responsible for Moscow car bomb
    Speaking in Kyiv, Ilya Ponomarev alleges bomb that killed daughter of Putin ally was work of underground group
    A former member of Russia’s Duma who was expelled for anti-Kremlin activities has claimed that Russian partisans were allegedly behind a car bomb which blew up the daughter of one of Vladimir Putin’s close political allies on the outskirts of Moscow.
    Speaking in Kyiv, where he is based, Ilya Ponomarev alleged the explosion on Saturday evening was the work of the National Republican Army, which he claimed was an underground group working inside Russia and dedicated to overthrowing the Putin regime.
    The Guardian has not verified the authenticity of Ponomarev’s claims. Russian commentators have blamed Ukraine for the attack, a claim Kyiv strongly denies.
    “This action, like many other partisan actions carried out on the territory of Russia in recent months, was carried out by the National Republican Army (NRA),” Ponomarev said. He was speaking in a 7pm broadcast on February Morning, a Russian-language opposition TV channel he launched in Kyiv earlier this year.
    He added: “A momentous event took place near Moscow last night. This attack opens a new page in Russian resistance to Putinism. New – but not the last.”
    The blast killed Darya Dugina, the 30-year-old daughter of the Russian political commentator and far-right ideologue Alexander Dugin, both of whom had been sanctioned by the UK and US for acting to destabilise Ukraine.
    Ponomarev said partisans inside Russia were ready to conduct further similar attacks against high-profile Kremlin-connected targets, including officials, oligarchs and members of Russia’s security agencies.
    The former deputy read what purported to be an NRA manifesto: “We declare President Putin a usurper of power and a war criminal who amended the Constitution, unleashed a fratricidal war between the Slavic peoples and sent Russian soldiers to certain and senseless death.
    “Poverty and coffins for some, palaces for others – the essence of his policy. We believe that disenfranchised people have the right to rebel against tyrants. Putin will be deposed and destroyed by us!”
    Ponomarev confirmed his comments in a message sent by text. A leftwing member of Russia’s parliament, he was the only deputy to vote in 2014 against the annexation of Crimea.
    A vengeful Kremlin barred him when he was on a trip to the US from re-entering his own country. He became a Ukrainian citizen in 2019. In March, after the invasion of Ukraine, he launched February Morning and Rozpartisan, a Telegram channel which gives news updates of anti-war actions in Russian towns and cities.
    Ponomarev’s feud with Putin is well known. His claim there is an active indigenous underground movement seeking to assassinate prominent supporters of the war inside Russia would, if true, mark a dramatic escalation. It is likely to enrage – if not necessarily convince – the Kremlin.
    The alleged manifesto declared that the Russian government and regional administrations are Putin’s “accomplices”.
    “Those who do not resign their power will be destroyed by us,” it said.
    Other targets include corrupt businessmen, the homes and properties of those who fail to condemn the Kremlin and its war, and “employees of power structures”. Military cargoes and people who profit from them will also be wiped out, it said.
    The statement promised the NRA would not target civilians. It described Daria Dugina as a legitimate target and “faithful companion” to her father, who supported genocide in Ukraine. “She was a voice calling for violence and murder” in Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine, it stated.
    Prominent Russian hawks have demanded the Kremlin respond by targeting government officials in Kyiv. “Decision-making centres!! Decision-making centres!!!” wrote Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of the state-funded RT television station, reposting a call to bomb the headquarters of the Ukrainian SBU intelligence agency.
    I write from Ukraine, where I've spent much of the past six months, reporting on the build-up to the conflict and the grim reality of war. It has been the most intense time of my 30-year career. In December I visited the trenches outside Donetsk with the Ukrainian army; in January I went to Mariupol and drove along the coast to Crimea; on 24 February I was with other colleagues in the Ukrainian capital as the first Russian bombs fell.
    This is the biggest war in Europe since 1945. It is, for Ukrainians, an existential struggle against a new but familiar Russian imperialism. Our team of reporters and editors intend to cover this war for as long as it lasts, however expensive that may prove to be. We are committed to telling the human stories of those caught up in war, as well as the international dimension. But we can't do this without the support of Guardian readers. It is your passion, engagement and financial contributions which underpin our independent journalism and make it possible for us to report from places like Ukraine.
    We may need a different thread to discuss these issues (about 'propaganda') — specifically because they're important.
    Okay, I feel we've got to that point. (Definitely.) This thread is to discuss the incident, and its possible ramifications and consequences, which may be serious in a whole bunch of geopolitical ways.
    I've moved 26 (twenty-six) posts to start a new standalone thread, provisionally titled Propaganda Wars, in the Manipulation in the Media section. (But maybe a better title will become obvious to all.)
