So yes, there's a chance the soviets may have felt the need to make a move, so as to push Putin into a corner and cause him to act hard and end things now one way or another. But, this is a playing with fire scenario, the soviets are still powerful behind the scenes, but everyone knows who they are and where they have their pieces, it would be fatal to play this game and get found out. I'm not sure they want to go that route at all at this time
I'd even add a little more emphasis to that... I'm as sure as I can be that they'd absolutely not want to go down that route. It's way way too dangerous. It has to be 99% certain this was Ukrainian (and/or US/UK) special forces.

One thing that will be very very interesting is what Zelensky will say.

Exactly! (when will people wake up when it comes to this 'controlled propaganda' website)?

Maybe this can help in forming a better view of things

    1. The Soviets are behind Putin recognizing both LPR and DPR as republics. Somehow they found their way to Putin (and this is where Aleksandr Dugin is supposed to have come through for them) (Also please don't call him Oleksandr, he's not Ukrainian )
    2. The Soviets expected a more clean, hard and fast war, a takeover of Ukraine in a month or two, by force regardless of civilians opinions or care for anyone else's stance (the west)
    3. This didn't happen of course, this is being done not as the USSR would have done it, but as Russia does it now

So yes, there's a chance the soviets may have felt the need to make a move, so as to push Putin into a corner and cause him to act hard and end things now one way or another. I'm not sure they want to go that route at all at this time (Putin is not dumb, he has ears and hands and eyes everywhere)

The soviets, since long ago, are walking on a very thin line. Having come into a good place in Putin's eyes momentarily, means nothing, the carpet will be swept below their feet in a moment if they are found out to be the root of Dasha's death
"(Also please don't call him Oleksandr, he's not Ukrainian )"

I got that from the title of the first article I found on the internet - How is it best to spell his name?

    ? Aleksandr Dugin ?

I don't want to use the western way either.

Wow - I suspect Bill fixed it. If so, thank you.

This was the first article that I found - https://westobserver.com/news/europe...rbs-of-moscow/

Aleksandr Dugin is the right way, it avoids both Ukrainian and western pronunciation

Pretty sure he would not like Alexander or Oleksandr as alternatives

This may or may not mean anything. But apart from the Daily Mail article in post #3 just under an hour ago, there are NO reports I can find from any mainstream media in the US or EU/UK.

Not the BBC, CNN, CBC, Der Spiegel, Le Monde, nothing.

I wrote this half an hour ago:
Quote Posted by Bill Ryan (here)
By morning US time, Putin will have made an extremely strong statement. He'll promise a response, but will leave Ukraine and the US guessing about what the response will be. And that won't be rhetorical... there will absolutely be one.
Putin's statement will need to be exceptionally strong to calm down the extremists (and the Soviets, referencing what Mashika posted in her post #20 here.) Putin is a master statesman, and will know exactly what to say and do. But he'll be walking a very fine line, keeping it all in balance — though he can certainly do that.

My guess about the deafening silence [so far] in the western mainstream media is because whoever gives them orders about what to say and report is still figuring out how to play this. Some slightly more wise and cautious senior influencers in the west, intent on avoiding escalation, will not want the west to be seen to be crowing about this. Others will want to do the opposite.

If Zelensky says the wrong stupid thing, someone's going to take him out — even if it wasn't under Putin's orders. This could spiral out of anyone's control very fast indeed.

As you said, the media is kind of silent, i think we are going to see a lot of 'neutral' comments or fake 'concern' and the usual fake empathy coming in from politicians, media and other figures in the next hours/days

They messed up, and this may turn things very bad for them, so no one will want to get involved much maybe (the potato is way too hot right now)

Here's a picture of the vehicle after the fire was put out. I was looking for a tell in her father's body language in post#28. When people are smuggling at an airport their feet will be pointed at an exit.

The US and Russia have an active agreement to not conduct active measures within the other's respective borders. CIA would not have been involved within Russia in any active way.

That - from a friend who retired as a GS-15 (CIA equivalent to a full colonel).

    an improvised explosive device
There'll be all kinds of forensics that can be done on that: the exact chemical composition of the explosive, etc. It'd all be done by mass spectrometer. Then that can be compared, like a fingerprint or DNA match, to any other IED that's been similarly analyzed in Ukraine.

My guess is that if there are matches, they'll know within a couple of days, maybe sooner. Then there won't be any definitive public statements, but very swift action will be taken against whoever did this.

THEN, they'll detail the entire process to the media, including naming who carried out the bombing. Putin has to do all this at express speed to quell the many voices that will be telling him to take out Kiev, or anywhere else in Europe.

Putin did say several weeks ago that if there was an attack on Russian soil, immediate and decisive action would be taken against the executive decision-makers, whoever or wherever they may be. There may even be a few in the know in MI6 in London right now who might not be sleeping too well.

Darya Dugin: Daughter of Putin ally killed in Moscow bomb - report
    19 minutes ago

The daughter of a close ally to Russia's President Vladimir Putin has reportedly been killed near Moscow.

According to local media, Darya Dugin died after her car exploded in flames while she was travelling home.

It is not clear if her father, the Russian philosopher Aleksandr Dugin who is known as "Putin's brain," was the intended target of an attack.

Mr Dugin is a prominent ultra-nationalist ideologue who is believed to be close to the Russian president.

According to Russian media outlet 112, the pair were due to travel back from an event on Saturday evening in the same car before Mr Dugin made a decision to travel separately from his daughter at the last minute.

Unverified footage posted on Telegram appears to show Mr Dugin watching in shock as emergency services arrive at the scene of the burning wreck of a vehicle.

The BBC has not been able to verify the footage independently.

An unnamed law enforcement official confirmed to RIA news agency that a car had caught fire on a highway in the Moscow region's Odintsovo district, but provided no further details.

There has been no official comment from Russian authorities so far.

Despite not holding an official position in government, Ms Dugin's father is a close ally of the Russian president and has even been branded "Putin's Rasputin".

The philosopher's daughter, Darya Dugin, was herself a prominent journalist and commentator who supported the Russian invasion.

Earlier this year, she was sanctioned by UK authorities who accused the 29-year-old of contributing to online "disinformation" in relation to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Aleksandr Dugin's ultra-nationalist writings are credited with deeply shaping Vladimir Putin's worldview and he is closely associated with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The ideologue has previously expressed his support for Russian aggression towards Ukraine and was placed under US sanctions in 2015 for his alleged involvement in Moscow's annexation of Crimea in 2014.

They'd just get on the [encrypted] phone to MI6, or call in a bunch of retired Special Ops US mercenaries and pay them as much as they wanted via accounts in the Cayman Islands. Legally, the CIA would have clean hands.... they always do.
