A universal basic income of £1,600 a month is to be trialled in England for the first time in a pilot programme.

Thirty people will be paid a lump sum without conditions each month for two years and will be observed to understand the effects on their lives.

Two places in England have been selected for the micro pilot scheme: central Jarrow, in north-east England, and East Finchley, in north London.

Will Stronge, the director of research at the thinktank Autonomy, which is backing the plan, said of the £1,600 figure: “This is a substantial amount. Universal basic income usually covers people’s basic needs but we want to see what effect this unconditional lump sum has on people’s mental and physical health, whether they choose to work or not.

“Our society is going to require some form of basic income in the coming years, given the tumult of climate change, tech disruption and industrial transition that lies ahead. This is why building the evidence base and public engagement now is so important, so the ground is well prepared for national implementation.”

Watched this last night and it was horrific. You would think by now, with all the stories I'm already aware of, that I would be jaded and somewhat immune to it all but it still produced a sense of outrage and disgust at the corrupt media and judicial system of the UK. The judge had to have been 'told' the outcome of this trial before he sat on it.

I will say this though, I thought Tommy was wrong to show faces of people he was secretly filming, (perhaps they gave permission in the end), and definitely wrong to expose the location of the lad forced to leave the area with his family. I also wonder how the girl studying law feels about her chosen field now, she already knows the truth doesn't matter.

I'll remind readers at this point that funeral director John O'Loony reported, in an interview I wish I could identify again and post, that he was a part of a group of people who managed to get a meeting with a government junior minister in, I think, 2021. They expressed their alarm at what they were seeing.

The junior minister sat respectfully listening to them all, then said, "I know, we are surprised there hasn't been a revolution yet, but we are ready for it when it comes".

Fifteen years of people getting clean away with horrendous crimes, successfully being covered up. I mean, what an unfortunately brilliant effort they did in covering this up; to the point child victims are called prostitutes by the police who pander to their own bigoted fears, as if they assume all Muslims are like this so they dare not say anything. How insulting of them.

I talked about this before in this post from another thread (link) when Muslim activist lawyer Nazir Afzal reopened the case of a Muslim grooming gang in Rochdale. Nazir Afzal is the brave righteous person we should be looking up to, certainly government, council and police should be paying attention to his amazing work.

Take the problems in some English areas with Muslim rape gangs. The police pretended this problem wasn't there (and still do), not wanting to be tarred with a toxic brush of racism, so they glossed over it, turned the white victims into criminals. Yet the progressive media, not being brave enough to be honest about a problem, end up blocking the efforts of a Muslim activist lawyer Nazir Afzal who reopened the case of a Muslim grooming gang in Rochdale. As I said there, its almost as if some people believe all men of Pakistani heritage are implicated and feel they need to protect them, but this is not fair and the guilty are a very small percent. So lets have the truth out for the sake of the innocent if not the victims. Their cowardice is failing everyone. But no, instead you get called alt-right. It's a corruption of truth to ignore nuances

I agree the location shouldn't have be shared but compared to fifteen years of successful coverups ...at what point do we count our blessings that this is coming into the light? I think this is like catching the penny but missing the sack of gold. Doxing their location was bad but pan out and look at the state of this issue. It's well beyond a nightmare. Look at the testimony of its victims; they get hounded and bullied because people don't want to believe it.

My gut felt opinion on this is its has been so bad for so long, enough is enough, out with the truth and good luck to anyone in the way.

Reading this I'm not even convinced the blocker to justice was social awkwardness, it looks like police and councilors were directly involved. A very well organised operation looking at its success. Even after this bombshell in 2015 people were not familiar or aware of the issue.

I don't know if it's happening in the UK to the same extent that it's happening in the US, but in big "WOKE" US cities the amount of shop lifting is so off the charts that big stores are actually just closing down.
And perhaps that was intentional, so that people would demand they reopen.
But most likely that will only be done only on the condition that stores are allowed to demand ID verificaition, one step closer to the "Social Credit System" the globalists lust after so avidly.
Ans perhaps it was considered possible to eliminate that first step in the UK, where big cities are more "civilized".

Just heard that Nigel Farage has had all his bank accounts (private and business) accounts cancelled. No reasons were given, and he's been unable to open accounts elsewhere. He has put the reason down to politcs. His family have also been targeted.

You may or may not agree with Nigel's views but this action by the bank/s has very wide ramifications for all of us.

You could say that this will be a positive thing in that it will start to awaken many, who have no idea as yet to what is to come. If Nigel can be targeted, why not the proles, people will start to think. Without digging into this issue, my gut tells me that whatever else is going on, 'they' are taking the political temperature of this country ahead of next year's election.

Our reaction and our numbers reacting one way or another are data that their brain trust might be wanting right now.

Perhaps if Nigel's having problems opening a UK bank account he should look no further than to take a leaf out of Dave Fishburn's book and open his own bank. Given Nigel's 4,000,000 voters, it could be an amazing success and a real kick in the pants for UK bankers

Could be. It's an overaction for some reason. But the move against Farage smells desperate whatever the motivation. But even if it is a behaviour test I'm not sure it would be good to let this slide. Leaving it feels like a worse home-goal than showing disapproval against it.

Thanks Lake, I'll enjoy watching this. I've only seen the first episode of the YT Channel 4 presentation so far and Dave Fishburn himself is a force to be reckoned with.
