Not as far as I know. It was all very Stalin-esque pot banging.

Laura Dodsworth covered this peculiar iteration of mass-forming in her book A State of Fear. Apparently the young woman who came up with this "..thought it a good idea of togertherness..." Personally I found the whole thing quite stomach churning and had nothing whatsoever to do with it.

This was sometime around 2016, a now former colleague of mine once shared that his friend who worked in the civil service had a 'brainstorming' meeting once where everyone agreed on a slogan for group motivation: "Work sets you free!"

Everyone apparently thought this was a great idea, until the penny dropped

UK government asked Twitter and Facebook to “tweak” algorithms during Covid
    Cindy Harper - December 12, 2022

    https://reclaimthenet.org/uk-governm...ak-algorithms/

Former United Kingdom Health Secretary Matt Hancock, self-styled as an official who was at the forefront of Britain’s battle against Covid, didn’t seem to feel like he had done enough in 2020 and 2021, so he felt compelled to milk the pandemic cow by writing a book about that “battle.”

But he wasn’t laboring alone, since he had a co-author, Isabel Oakeshott, who reports say is actually opposed to Hancock’s policies and is a lockdown skeptic.

And now, Oakeshott, who had access to official records and Hancock’s notes exchanged with “all the key players in Britain’s Covid-19 story” – as the book’s blurb states – has penned her own “story,” an article based on the collaboration published by the Spectator, whose content draws from the material used for the book.

Oakeshott writes about the “key lessons” that include revelations about the details of UK’s vaccine and mask policies, but also the mechanisms to deal with dissenters, particularly online.

According to the journalist, Hancock genuinely considered those who disagreed with him on how to handle the situation as “mad and dangerous” and more importantly, as persons that “needed to be shut down.”

Judging by the article, his “response” to online skepticism effectively came even before pandemic restrictions themselves. Hancock had no problem revealing that in January 2020, his special adviser was already in conversation with Twitter about the ways to “tweak” the platform’s algorithms.

Another social media giant was co-opted somewhat later, and by Hancock personally, when he got in touch with former British PM and politician Nick Clegg – now president for global affairs at Meta.

Clegg, who was at the time Facebook’s VP of global affairs and communications, was reportedly “happy to oblige.”

And according to Oakeshott, Hancock’s department together with the Cabinet Office (PM and government), “harnessed the full power of the state to crush individuals and groups whose views were seen as a threat to public acceptance of official messages and policy.”

The Cabinet Office enlisted the help of a unit that previously worked on stifling the influence of Islamic State (ISIS) to now deal with “anti-vaxxers,” she writes, and notes that the policy of zero tolerance did not spare doctors, scientists, and academics, such as those behind the Great Barrington Declaration.

Even then PM Boris Johnson was not as ardent a “dissent suppressor” as Hancock, Oakeshott’s writing suggests.

Great Reset: UK Prepares to Introduce a ‘Digital Pound’ Central Bank Digital Currency
    KURT ZINDULKA - 11 Dec 2022

    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/202...ital-currency/

The de facto head of His Majesty’s Treasury announced this week that the Bank of England has begun consultations on implementing a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) that could usher in the globalist vision of a cashless society in which all transactions are traceable by the government.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt revealed that, as a part of his ‘Edinburgh Reforms’ of Britain’s financial services, the Bank of England will begin consultations on the design of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) which would act as a digital version of the pound sterling.

Hunt, an anti-Brexit, pro-China figure resurrected from the David Cameron era, said in a written statement to Parliament that the government will begin “bringing forward a consultation in the coming weeks to explore the case for a central bank digital currency – a sovereign digital pound – and consult on a potential design.”

“The Bank of England will also release a Technology Working Paper setting out cutting-edge technology considerations informing the potential build of a digital pound,” he added.

In contrast to Bitcoin, which functions on a decentralised basis in which no single person can control its functions, ownership, or value, a CBDC would be similar to traditional fiat currency issued by a central bank, such as the Bank of England, and therefore could suffer from the same inflation issues if the central bank decided to issue more of it — like printing cash.

Should a CBDC replace hard currency altogether, the government would be able to track every purchase or transaction made by the public.

The Bank of England has also admitted that a digital pound could be “programmable“, meaning that the government could potentially add mechanisms to prevent people from spending their own money on things the state disapproves.

This has led to concerns that Western governments could implement a system akin to the social credit score in Communist China, which has already been used to blacklist millions of citizens from travelling, including those who dissented against the authoritarian rule of Chairman Xi Jinping.

    https://twitter.com/BreitbartLondon/...95888527716356

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who was essentially endorsed by Chinese state media in the contest to replace Boris Johnson as PM — which he lost — and who married into the multi-billion Infosys tech dynasty in India, has been at the forefront of pushing for the introduction of a CBDC in Britain.

Central Bank Digital Currencies are also heavily supported by the globalist Davos-based World Economic Forum (WEF), which listed it among the technologies that will “change the world by 2027“.

The WEF said that Central Bank Digital Currencies will “revolutionise the financial system” through “increasing financial inclusion and improving the lives of billions of people globally by providing access to cheap and affordable financial services.”

“For banks and issuers, they’ll be able to integrate their existing infrastructure and be able to provide a broad spectrum of CBDC-linked payment-related services and exercise cross-chain interoperability protocols for universal payment access to digital national currencies, stablecoins, NFTs, the Metaverse and much more,” the WEF suggested.

Alongside the nominally Conservative government in the United Kingdom, the Biden administration in the United States and the European Union are also both working towards the implementation of digital versions of their currencies.

Another 18 minutes from Alexander Mercouris about the very severe problems in the UK, with no end in sight. (Many British Avalon members will know all this, but it might be rather interesting for others to listen to.)

One snippet which sounds like a joke, but actually might not be: it's normal medical practice in the UK for doctors to ask a possible dementia patient who the Prime Minister is, as one of the diagnostic questions. But that may not be used any more... as so many perfectly functioning people don't know and may not even care.

This practice is not restricted to the UK. The rationale seems to be stability plus celebrity. Over a hundred years ago, the philosopher Henri Bergson noted progressive states of aphasia as being forgetting first proper nouns, then common nouns, then adjectives and finally verbs. His reasoning is to do with action; proper nouns are the least active, verbs the most active: you can literally act them out.

This is a different scale to recognizing (or not) one’s own spouse, as an example of advanced dementia. It is an attempt to find common ground with a total stranger. The problem is that with age, people tend to opt out of the celebrity game, and are more likely to remember stars from back whenever. The other problem is that British politics these days are making everyone feel suddenly much older. Who is the prime minister? has become a trick question, with too many possible answers. Not only does the name change, but the ‘personality’ stays the same: the correct answer has become either ‘the latest sociopath’ or ‘the machine of government’. In other words, assessing a patient’s mental condition has turned into assessing the government’s. However, the corollary is that ordinary citizens are very likely mentally unsound, unless they are political scientists. Their wrong answer (Truss, Johnson, May…) would indicate just when the began to lose it.

In an ideal world, we wouldn’t need to know the name of the person running a country in an appropriate manner: they would be a faceless civil servant. Nowadays we see the exact opposite: many commentators, the likes of Guardian readers, are saying that basically the current PM is a further right Margaret Thatcher – suggesting that they lost it a long time ago.

To quote Benjamin Fulford, “If they had made some nice Indian gentleman the Prime Minister, then the British Empire would still be a relevant power”. I think we can hold Fulford accountable for our collective dystopian nightmare. Almost as though he were a party to it. I do quote Fulford not verbatim. His words were something like that. Not sure why his 2008 Project Camelot interview has.been so overlooked in the analysis of 2022. Almost a playbook for the WEF.

It's going to be enacted in Canterbury as well.

I used to work in Oxford, it's quite a woke town so I can imagine that a lot of virtue-signalling people will go along with it. Good luck in bringing in this nonsense in places like Nottingham, Newcastle or Glasgow; they'd face open rebellion.

This has implications for the whole world.....

Very true, but also those of us living in more rural areas where the things they are saying are within 15 min reach which are at least an hour away what then ? Are they going to kick us out of our homes & relocate us to a smart city zone ?

It's quite possible that they would try, but I think that the well-heeled people in my village would be brandishing the pitchforks if they had the day trips and shopping trips that they frequently have curtailed. Good luck to The Powers That Be in getting them into a pokey high-rise smart-living flat.

Derby city council have said they're installing ANPR to identify car registration numbers for 'air monitoring' (post link).

The city council seemed to be washing their hands of it, blaming the government. I think the push for 15 min cities will be a torrent coming from the worlds technocrats, and Oxford are just being bold and proud about it, blagging their mouth off. I don't think it's the exception I am thinking it's the tip of the iceberg looking at the Derby city announcement.

Konstantin Krisin shares that while 400 people were arrested in Russia last year because of things they put on social media, in the UK the number is 3300.
