I think Artemis 1 doesn't launch until to-morrow. There are two September dates if something goes wrong on Monday.

Exclamation Re: NASA Artemis 1 launch to Moon Orbit - live coverage

    • Biggest Nasa's Rocket 'Artemis' Launched into Space for Moon Test-flight Live! ... (Postponed/Delayed to Friday September 2nd 2022)
    • [4K] LIVE 3.5 miles from NASA's most powerful rocket ever!!!

The Artemis test-flight to the Moon is back on track after a suspected hydrogen leak was fixed and fuel tanks are now filling as planned. Artemis 1 is an unmanned Moon-orbiting mission that is aiming to open up the possibility of human exploration on the Moon and Mars. It is the first of many space exploration projects that is being planned by Nasa. After these missions, if all goes to plan, a new set of astronauts will travel to the Moon in 2025. They would be the first humans to stand on the surface of the Moon since Gene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt, in December 1972, who were the Apollo 17 astronauts.

NASA is set to launch the Orion spacecraft to a distant retrograde lunar orbit atop the Space Launch System (SLS) for its maiden launch. Launching from Launch Complex 39B, at the Kennedy Space Center, in Florida, the Artemis I mission will certify both Orion and the SLS Block 1 rocket for crewed spaceflight; its next mission–aptly named Artemis II–will be crewed, and bring a yet-announced crew to lunar orbit (but will not land on the lunar surface).
    • NASA Launches Artemis I to the Moon Aboard SLS

NASA is launching the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket on the Artemis I mission, an uncrewed test flight of SLS and the Orion spacecraft around the Moon. Liftoff is scheduled for a two-hour window that opens at 8:33 AM EDT (12:33 UTC) from LC-39B, Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
    • NASA - SLS & Orion - Artemis I - LC-39B - Kennedy Space Center - Space Affairs Livestream:

August 30, August 31, and September 1 is the Moon out of reach, or it is not guaranteed that the solar panels of Orion are min. 90 minutes in the sun to have the best electricity power. Also, it has to consider that the sun has too much pull because of gravity on the spacecraft during some periods. Additionally, for Artemis 1 in 2022: Sept. 20 – Oct. 4: 14 launch opportunities, excluding Sept. 29 Oct. 17 – Oct. 31: 11 launch opportunities, excluding Oct. 24, 25, 26, and 28 Nov. 12 – Nov. 27: 12 launch opportunities, excluding Nov. 20, 21, and 26 Dec. 9 – Dec. 23: 11 launch opportunities, excluding Dec. 10, 14, 18, and 23 Additionally, for Artemis launches in 2023: Jan. 7-20: 10 launch opportunities, excluding Jan. 10, 12, 13 and 14 Feb. 3-17: 14 launch opportunities, excluding Feb. 10 March: 19 launch opportunities between March 1-17 and March 29-31, excluding March 11 and March 18-28 April: 14 launch opportunities between April 1-13 and April 26-30, excluding April 2, 3, 7, 9, and 14-25 May: 14 launch opportunities between May 1-10 and May 26-31, excluding May 8 and May 11-25 June: 13 launch opportunities from June 1-6, on June 20, and from June 24-30, excluding June 5, 7-19, and 21-23 The SLS will send the Orion spacecraft a mission of between 26 and 42 days, with at least 6 days in a distant retrograde orbit around the Moon. The mission will certify the Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System launch vehicle for crewed flights beginning with the second flight test of the Orion and Space Launch System, Artemis 2. Following missions: Artemis 2 - 2024 First scheduled crewed mission of NASA's Orion spacecraft is planned to be launched by the Space Launch System (SLS) in May 2024. The crewed Orion spacecraft will perform a lunar flyby test and return to Earth. This is the first crewed spacecraft to travel beyond low Earth orbit since Apollo 17 in 1972. Formerly known as Exploration Mission-2 (EM-2), the mission was renamed after the introduction of the Artemis program. Artemis 3 - 2025 Artemis 3 (officially Artemis III) is planned as the first crewed Moon landing mission of the Artemis program and the first crewed flight of a Starship HLS lander. Scheduled for launch in 2025, Artemis 3 is planned to be the second crewed Artemis mission and the first crewed lunar landing since Apollo 17 in 1972. Artemis 4 - 2027 Artemis 4 (officially Artemis IV) is the fourth planned mission of NASA's Artemis Program. The mission will launch four astronauts on a Space Launch System rocket and an Orion to the Gateway Space Station. Artemis 5 - NET 2027 Artemis 5 (officially Artemis V) is the fifth planned mission and second crewed landing of NASA's Artemis Program. The mission will launch four astronauts on a Space Launch System rocket and an Orion to the Moon's south pole. In addition, Artemis V will also deliver two new elements to the Gateway Space Station.

    • Artemis I Launch to the Moon (Official NASA Broadcast):

Watch live as our mega Moon rocket launches an uncrewed Orion spacecraft on a six-week mission around the Moon and back to Earth. During #Artemis I, Orion will lift off aboard the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, and travel 280,000 miles (450,000 km) from Earth and 40,000 miles (64,000 km) beyond the far side of the Moon, carrying science and technology payloads to expand our understanding of lunar science, technology developments, and deep space radiation.

Liftoff is from Launch Pad 39B at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The two-hour launch window opens at 8:33 a.m. EDT (12:33 UTC) Monday, Aug. 29.

Through Artemis missions, NASA will land the first woman and the first person of color on the Moon, paving the way for a long-term lunar presence and serving as a steppingstone to send astronauts to Mars. We are going.

Imagine if you have the time, money and health to physically BE there when it happens ... and record anything that is unusual or other possible anomalies ... that feeling/experience can never be beaten by ANY movie production!

How do I know this to be 100% correct ... because when I went to a big airplanes demonstration show with multiple different jets showing off by flying really low and near the public ... makes you go in awe beyond belief ... being there when it happens is so so different than sitting in a chair watching a screen.

The sounds the vibrations the smell the mutual public experience all together is so different than just watching a computer screen.

It feels like being one with something bigger than yourself.

I watched, and heard!, Apollo 15 launch in July 1971. I was in the Army stationed at Fort Bragg, NC.

An Army buddy of mine was from Florida and his dad worked at Cape Kennedy. We hitchhiked from NC to FL and stayed with his parents a few days. His dad took us to a spot on the coast where we could see the launch site and the ship. I was not aware there was to be a launch. So it was both quite interesting and a surprise to me to be able to witness the launch.

What I recall most was how loud it was even though we were many miles away. The ship was visible on the ground from where we were and it was quite high up before the sound reached our location. I expected the hear it, but it was very loud indeed.

Totally agree John, It was in relation to the launching problems IE: mechanical and atmospherics. Our present day tech is so fragile, so much has to be right, we can't just jump in and go yet

Hard to believe they have seal issues, didn't they learn anything from the Shuttle debacle ?

I was curious if NASA is as nimble as the civilian market and I think they are sharp based on all the projects they have going from now into '23/'24. Maybe they are just being extremely careful?

Quote The Artemis program is a robotic and human Moon exploration program led by the United States' National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) along with three partner agencies: European Space Agency (ESA), Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and Canadian Space Agency (CSA). The Artemis program intends to reestablish a human presence on the Moon for the first time since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. The major components of the program are the Space Launch System (SLS), Orion spacecraft, Lunar Gateway space station and the commercial Human Landing Systems. The program's long-term goal is to establish a permanent base camp on the Moon and facilitate human missions to Mars.
