Cosmic' and 'phantom' UFOs are all over Ukraine's skies, government report claims

Astronomers observed dozens of objects that "cannot be scientifically identified."

The skies over Kyiv are swarming with unidentified flying objects (UFOs), according to a new report from the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Of course, given that Russia and Ukraine have been locked in a months-long war that relies heavily on aircraft and drones, it's likely that many of these so-called UFOs are military tools that appear too fleetingly to identify, a U.S. intelligence agency has speculated.

Published to the preprint database arXiv, the report — which has not yet been peer-reviewed — describes recent steps that Ukrainian astronomers have taken to monitor fast-moving, low-visibility objects in the daytime sky over Kyiv and the surrounding villages. Using specially calibrated cameras at two weather stations in Kyiv and Vinarivka, a village about 75 miles (120 kilometers) to the south, astronomers observed dozens of objects "that cannot scientifically be identified as known natural phenomena," the report said.

Government agencies tend to refer to such objects as UAP, short for "unidentified aerial phenomena."

"We observe a significant number of objects whose nature is not clear," the team wrote. "We see them everywhere."

The researchers divided their UAP observations into two categories: "cosmics" and "phantoms." According to the report, cosmics are luminous objects that are brighter than the background sky. These objects are designated with birds' names — such as "swift," "falcon" and "eagle" — and have been observed flying solo as well as in "squadrons," the team wrote.

Phantoms, by contrast, are dark objects, usually appearing "completely black," as if absorbing all light falling onto them, the team added. By comparing observations from the two participating observatories, the researchers estimated that phantoms range from 10 to 40 feet (3 to 12 meters) wide and can travel at speeds of up to 33,000 mph (53,000 km/h). For comparison, an intercontinental ballistic missile can reach speeds of up to 15,000 mph (24,000 km/h), according to The Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation.

The researchers did not speculate as to what these UFOs may be. Rather, their paper focuses on the methods and calculations used to detect the objects. However, according to a 2021 report from the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), it's likely that at least some UAP are "technologies deployed by China, Russia, another nation, or a non-governmental entity."

Given the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022, it's reasonable to suspect that some UAP described in the new report may be linked to foreign surveillance or military technologies.

According to the ODNI report, other possible explanations for UAP include "airborne clutter," such as birds and balloons; atmospheric phenomena, such as ice crystals; or classified government projects. Neither the U.S. nor Ukraine reports raise the possibility of extraterrestrial visitors.

The U.S. government has openly renewed its interest in UAP investigations since 2017, when several videos taken by U.S. Navy aircraft leaked to the media. The now-infamous videos showed unidentified aircraft moving in seemingly impossible ways, with no explanation.

The government subsequently declassified the footage and recently revealed that more military footage of UAP encounters does exist, though the Department of Defense (DOD) will not be releasing them due to "national security concerns." Earlier this year, Congress approved funding for the DOD to open a new office focused exclusively on managing reports of UFO sightings by the U.S. military. The authors of the new UAP report out of Ukraine added that the country's National Academy of Science is interested in contributing to this ongoing research.

A reverse image search shows that that ‘searchlights’ image is used in many print articles, however, it does not appear in the arXiv pre-print doc that broke the story. So, the image is click bait.

The arXiv doc is interesting though, I had never heard of those photo analysis techniques. Plus, 15 km/s is hella fast.

That's 54000 km/h, or 33554.044 mph, or Italy to westcoast of the US in about 10 minutes.

That's a bit slower than what I kind of calculated at nine yrs of age, when I saw my "first one".

Laser lights show -Northern Lights over Kiev

The above show was conducted more than year ago before the war erupted in Ukraine but realise that laser lights including big ones are now commonly used in capitals and tourist zones , some permanently, some on occasion and yes they literally “reach to the skies” and create massive light phenomena when reflected in cloudy overcast.

The picture enclosed above is most certainly for illustration and was created on computer, looks pretty unrealistic from casual perspective moreso considering that Kiev is partially in war zone now and probably not the postcard type of city full of night entertainment nowadays,
even for laser lights pointing up in perfect synchronicity and angle,

I suggest that believers in the “image” contact creators of the source article for verification.

One could speculate that people who own strong laser torches would use them during the war in attempt to target enemy airplanes.
As long as in amateur hands the chance they would actually hit even one navigation system of an aircraft may be insignificant (?)
but they could in fact generate plenty of UAPs.

As far as politics including Mother Mary goes I tend to agree with Norman above.

So far we know that the Russians won't employ their latest drones, because they don't want their newest tech falling into NATOs hands, this is why they have bought Iranian made reverse engineered US drones, so it is highly unlikely to be Russian in origin.

Plus Russia has very good satellites, which can get very high res images of anywhere on earth.

The west keeps trying to frame the conflict in western terms, but it clearly is not the intention of Russia to turn Kiev or any other city to rubble or they would have done that on day one, they have both the heavy bombers and the missiles to do that very easily. What is being recorded & openly talked about here is something that has been here a very long time, they know that, but leaking a bit of data (that no one can do anything with) is good to keep the fear going & builds on the case for huge budgets to "deal" with the issue, just like the TTSA has been doing.

When I was young kid - that’s back in the dark times of Soviet Union, the Warsaw pact and the Cold War (70s in short), the “informed saying” went that all wars are virtually artificial and exist only because power players on both and many sides need to test-use their weapons in battlefield situation .

Ukraine the Eastern most Soviet state was their missile silo at the same time and later I’ve heard from inside source that the very command of Warsaw Pact was situated in Western Ukraine ( in underground military base).

It’s rather clear that the sole reason for objecting Ukraine being independent of Russia were their weapons and fear that some if not most of them no matter how obsolete would get to hands of the EU and NATO.
The very proof of this was invasion and annexation of Crimea which hosted more than “just weapons” but whole nuclear submarine arsenal and bases and who knows what else.
The rest of it is also coming into obvious: since Ukraine did not agree on “peaceful demiliritarisation” which equals submission to Russia they were attacked under the presumption that any weapons they may be hiding or aware of will be used to their defense and destroyed in fight.

What Spiral says is absolutely true tho: all countries working out much more sophisticated weapons nowadays , I prefer not to name or think about those, other than nuclear weapons that could annihilate either cities, people or both in very short time without much hassle.

The threat is still very high in my opinion that someone will try even one of them and make us all feel like laughing stock.

In short, there is always the risk that even one human involved and responsible for the conflict will lose their patience and their character completely which is unpredictable and consequences of which would be catastrophic.

The Ukraine and, surprisingly, the Netherlands have an enormous amount going on underground.

My source for that is the lady in the first part of THIS video. The video isn't where/when she said it but I think you'll grasp the gravity of the source if you watch it. I regard her as the most important whistle blower I've heard of, including that old crop of Camelot whistle blowers. Nazis is a term inherited from bloody WWII.

Nationalism, on the other hand is still kind of common in this world, dark remnant of unforgiving past debts and crimes committed by some of our ancestors depending on what side did they find themselves at that time,
nationalism only defends a group of people but can be quite mistaken in its stand towards humanity as a whole thus impeding every effort for qualified communication and solutions that would make sense,
including total abuse of resources .

We have seen influx of both Russian and Ukrainian refugees in the EU through past 30 years , long before this years war started and incremental difference between the two.

Most Russian refugees were well off people who always had to be or play “the boss”. Some people do admire the quality of them being so self assured under all circumstances and bossy. It’s their preferred national characteristics save for so called sheepish ( I mean the opposite now) normal people who are kind hearted, sober minded and don’t want to stick above anyone else just like the rest of us.

Ukrainian refugees on the other hand kept coming very humbled , humiliated , sometimes starved in great numbers ( because the situation of Ukraine was that of ravaged , disorganised country, bossed by Russians at all times),
people with several degrees in education ended up working mostly at supermarket lines and counters, I’ve never seen one Ukrainian who would take it on someone else.

There may be few baddies at the wheel in every other country at any time for sure.

Their nationalism was certainly supported and created artificially on inside because they had no ego left.
Do you know how does it feel having no ego left after centuries of abuse that can’t be proven so easily while someone else “owns and disowns “ you at their will?

Quite like mistreated animals they were.

I don’t believe in wars and weapons, did I say that previously and for sure this war can not help them out, it can’t be won easily without huge support
but ..

Quite like the rest of us who were never soooo attached to our cultural identity. Instead being just “special for being Russians”.

There are many special people on this planet for sure even then, we all rarely understand well our role and value of our predicament for humanity and it’s future.

If someone have so much space, resources and intelligence far there in the North but instead building up own country and sharing resources with others intends mostly on taking and fighting for what is not needed to them , in gesture of absurd vanity and loss of awareness of interconnectedness of Life surely they are on path of downfall creating bigger and bigger debt towards all of us.


But don’t trust me on it all , I would prefer to be wrong and see a quiet good ending of this suffering.


I see more things to come like the destruction of Kremlin whose role role in past caused much evil and shifting the power center somewhere to St Petersburg or even Kiev perhaps, could be why Ukraine is being taken at the moment.
