I was out in the streets in 1971 protesting the Vietnam war . We were the many hippies gathered almost drafted and had much to say and much to fear.
I wonder other than being one of the many, what I actually accomplished while neighbors and friends were drafted and never returned the same, if at all.

Recently I had a normie friend( dem of course) make fun of me, thinking I could do anything from the comfort of my home. Well, perhaps he was right?

But I receive many bits of vital news, as many of us here do , and see stuff no one could ever see.

I recently received a very moving video from a knowledgable and good source. I in turn sent it to others who in turn did the same.
The info will eventually go out to thousands I could have never reached if I were to stand in the town park and preach from a soapbox.
Those days are gone.
We all have that choice and power to spread the word from our homes. Its really the only effective way in the terrain we are now deployed .
Perhaps there is no perfect truth, but there is a closer to the truth, and thats what we can all share.

When we think of the "famous" people we have known over the past 70 years,
who were born before we were, or later, we are inclined to think of those who became
celebrities (so called) actors, musicians, politicians.

What did most or all of them do for "the people"? They looked out for #1
That's a human characteristic. Even politicians who start out with high ideals
soon learn that they have unseen overlords and have to toe the line.

The pyramid is high and we are near the bottom. But money and power is
not what it is thought to be. If we were to learn to teach ourselves what is
really important in our lives instead of being controlled by religion and so
called leaders we could make this Earth a great Paradise.

Sorry Doug if I derailed your thread. I uncharacteristically went off on a

Cheers Doug, i remember taking a pic of an old man sitting on a stool holding a sign that said "The world is going to end" ,or something like that, this was in Hyde park London back in 83.

There were other speakers all over the joint, some had good crowds around them, some like the man with the sign, had no one.

I was at speakers corner in Hyde Park way back in the 60's. There were
a few crazies that got on their soapbox or just "preached" about something.
It was a Sunday morning destination for many.

There were also some very interesting speakers there. I wonder if that
is still going on. I doubt it very much.

We've had our share of "The end is neigh" in US cities also.

There are always the good people that carry on resisting the new day brainwashing and the new wokeness.
They are good people, hard working and rooted in reality so to speak working hard and caring for family.
The people enforcing woke are the disenfranchised the miserable and often lost in my opinion. They lack warmth, love and humor.

In my town I call them the pre offended. They are glaring at you even before you approach a crosswalk with your car. They demand they are ready to cross even to the point of making an 18 wheeler screech to a halt ! lol

And that is, that we have Bill Ryan here as the main person, someone who you can talk to directly and ask questions and even directly challenge, something you can't do with other people most times (people who supposedly are 'high level')

The entirety of Avalon is a kind of Soap Box in a way, and a good one, but even better than that, we have the person who built it still around and willing to have a good conversation any day

Compare that to the ridiculous people in the media who only talk in their "privileged soap box" even online, like their twitter/facebook accounts which are controlled by a social media manager or similar hired people and then they filter out questions/answers depending on what narrative they are pushing that day/week/month/year

Sometimes I almost lose faith in Humanity, but there is a dichotomy
involved that fluctuates between GOOD and EVIL.
Seeing those poor people in Ukraine grieves me no end, because it
brings back to me some childhood images of, nothing so gross as war,
but innocent feelings for some older people who had hard lives to live.

I can only say that there seems to be one side of humanity that is old-time,
and a newer, not as natural, side that is something I can not relate to.

I would take the old heart--felt side anytime, any day, any future, any way.

It wouldnt surprise me if speakers corner was shut down now, or controlled with threats of fines for speaking out about certain subjects.
When i was there i was told it was the only place in GB where you had absolute freedom of speech, but back then your free speech was only passed on to the small crowd gathered around you, but like the author of this thread said, our armchairs that sit in front of a small electronic device can reach millions all over the world in seconds, Thats incredible to think of.

What you say is absolutely true Doug, whenever people would criticise the WWW or make claims that it is evil and pernicious I often pointed out that their simple choices to leave comments on news items, articles and videos had way more 'clout' than their grumbling at T.V sets at the 6 'o clock News!
I have always advocated that ordinary people now have the same publishing power as a mediocre author of the 1970's and in some cases very much more than this. If you go the extra step and publish a regular Blog, you are in a very powerful position indeed in terms of influence and reach. A very interesting point Doug, I am a shade younger than you but I remember the protests of the late 60's and early 70's - we have considerable media firepower from our computer chair, spot on mate!

I only saw this morning a news story that is totally disgusting, its about an Australian school /schools getting rid of the phrase "Grandparent", they have replaced it with "Grandfriend", this "woke" BS has been out of hand for a few yrs but now, i just reach out for my bowl of popcorn and watch the world turn to s@#T, Im tired of trying to fight all this crap and show peeps whats happening, the current "normal" is a farce and a total set back for democracy and freedom.

I have a lot to say about the soapbox(es) — tens of thousands of them. OMG. To avoid writing a book (and books could be written), here are just a few bulletpoints.

• Because everyone's yelling from their soapbox to try to out-shout everyone else, it's just a whole frantic cacophony of noise.

• There's too much noise, too much to follow. It's overwhelming. Do see this thread: "I can't keep up any more." The world of Future Shock is already here.

• "Don't forget to like and subscribe." Each time I hear that, I feel I want to click off. Seriously.

• The monetization, the self-promotion and the competitiveness are all actually part of the degeneration of our culture. Seriously again.

• I've written quite a few times on different threads that this is all a kind of Stockholm Syndrome. The alt media is becoming just like the mainstream that it claims to despise and oppose.
  But the mainstream is simply being copied. The celebs, the bumper music, the clickbait, the endless "and now a quick word from our sponsors."

• And an important point that I think few if any have ever commented on. Social media is all "now, now, now" fast food. There's no easily-accessible history.
  The past is yesterday, so let's just forget about it. It's possible to search Telegram and Twitter and Facebook for things posted a year ago, but it's really extremely difficult to do. Not like the forum we have here.
  But you see, this is slow food, something far more nourishing, with 100,000 threads of history and a million posts that can be easily found. Few people have time to invest in that now.
  Meanwhile, even the recent past is being forgotten. And I'm pretty sure this is all planned.

• All this is why I don't take part in the alt media Death Race 2000 any more. I'd rather genuinely change, or somehow positively affect, the life of just one very wonderful person here, than enjoy the shallow ego-stroking of having 100,000 "followers".

Being successful equals having money, who came with that idea? I think it used to be that being successful meant you were capable of working your ideas into a reality and maybe taking them to other people and then see them use them as well. Like adding some kind of new feature to a car that other people later on uses daily, that was a success, but now, even if you implement your idea, if there's no money gained then it is a failure, even if the entire planet uses it, because "money changes everything" and nobody else's money

What I feel is important, and perhaps what Doug might mainly mean, is even though we all may be far away from each other, we can share our feelings and interpretations as individuals with no commercial interest involved, and relay information that we find important for a clearer view of what is happening in the world.

I know there are many who feel isolated from family and friends and even at social gathering, almost like living in a separate reality, where being yourself and freely expressing yourself could result in very unpleasant, and in the end, unhelpful dialogue anyway.

And as Mashika has said, without Bill's dedication, there would be one less place to feel a kind of understanding or an ear that wants to listen among members and a bit of a "harbour" for readers to come and contemplate the world away from MSM pre-made fake reality. That is something not to be taken for gtanted really, now more than ever.
