Default The curious case of the vanishing wallet

Dear Friends, here's am odd little true story that happened over 3 days between Christmas Day and yesterday, 28 December. It's about a small (but very distinctive) little wallet that totally vanished from the known physical universe, and then magically re-appeared.

Here's the setup for what happened.
    • I'm very careful with almost every tiny little thing that I own or use. I don't break things, lose things, or forget things.
    • I have good eyesight, and a very good memory!
And here's the visual aid for what follows.

What you see there is my hat, a little black leather coin wallet, and a plastic box.

On Christmas Day I went out for a hike, wore my hat (it was very sunny), and as I often do I took the plastic box with me in my 4x4 as it's a good simple-and-safe place to store things I might want to take with me in the vehicle, like water, a snack, sunglasses, my drivers license and some $$, and so on. So that means I never lose things, and always know where to find useful in-the-car things that I might ever need.

I went on my hike, paid $1 to the local Ecuadorian who owns the trailhead parking place, and when I returned from my hike I knew 100% for sure I placed my little cash wallet on top of the box, placed my hat on top of that, put both in the back of the 4x4, and drove home. All perfectly normal.

I unpacked everything when I got home: the box with the hat still sitting on top, my backpack and my trekking poles.

And then I looked for my little cash wallet. It was not there.

Struck with cognitive dissonance, I looked under my hat again, IN my hat, and then inside the box. No wallet.

No disaster (I knew I only had about $1.25 cash in it) but it was a frustrating little mystery.

So then I went and looked everywhere in my 4x4, and everywhere in the grass between where I park and my front door. I got on my hands and knees with a flashlight to look under all the furniture. I must have looked IN the box half a dozen times, and each time, to open the lid, of course I had to move my hat.

And every time I looked, it wasn't under my hat, or in my hat, at all. I checked that too, like a trained monkey doing the same thing over and over again, an embarrassing number of times.

It had totally vanished, and I was bewildered.

So yesterday, after 3 days of looking for the thing (and now having totally given up), I set out to go on another hike.

My hat was still sitting on the box. I'd only ever moved it to check for the umpteenth time that the wallet just was not there, or to open the lid of the box one more time.

And voilà — there was the little black wallet, right under my hat, impossible to miss.

It was like a magician's trick. I was dumbfounded.

So for the last 24 hours.... I've been wondering who the magician was.

Bill, I sympathise, may be it is something different, but I can be sitting on the floor , table, desk doing something not moving and suddenly something is not there , I have not moved , where is it,. search with out moving, search everywhere, can't find it , eventually it is there or turns up, very frustrating and more , has happened my whole life, but have learned to live with it as frustrating as it is, is it something bizarre or is it me, always written it off as me but perhaps not

I have had events of this nature happening on occasions where one was triggered to explore further in one’s adventure in life. I belief it’s another turning point in one’s adventure of life. When events of this nature are presented to one, in my case I needed to be awake to the next steps.

Here are two examples, one on a micro scale and the other on a macro scale.

    1. I was on the start of having breakfast at a friend’s house when everything on the breakfast table looked normal. We were discussing with my friend esoteric matters when I couldn’t help notice that the sugar bowl wasn’t there on the table. Even my friend also noticed. Both of us had just used sugar minutes previously.

When we continued discussing intensely about these esoteric matters, where both of us were at full attention to one another, I just happened to notice that the sugar bowl turned up. My friend also noticed the sugar bowl turning up again.
I believe at that juncture of our discussion may have been a trigger for this result to happen.

    2. I was staying at a small hotel in a remote area in the off season when I met at the hotel another person who was the only one staying there besides myself.

I met this other person each evening and our conversations developed to a point that we both decided to go to another place (hotel) to have a different environment for further conversations.

When we drove to the other place which we knew the location very well, we couldn’t see it.
I turned the car around and went slowly to make sure I hadn’t missed it. We both couldn’t see it again.
We were rather perplexed and decided to turn the car around and drive at 5 mph to make sure it was there. Again, we couldn’t see it. Assuming we passed it, I turned the car again and drove at about 5 mph. Then we saw the hotel and entrance. We both looked at each other and decided not to go there.

When we got back to our hotel this person said to me I think I know what’s going on and he retrieved a book from his bedroom called ‘Illusions’ and gave it to me. When I read the book it all made sense to me about my adventure presenting to me by this illusion the night before.

This persons wife had just passed away and gave this book to him. He then gave me the book. This meant a lot to me in my next adventures of life.

Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach
In the cloud-washed airspace between the cornfields of Illinois and blue infinity, a man puts his faith in the propeller of his biplane. For disillusioned writer and itinerant barnstormer Richard Bach, belief is as real as a full tank of gas and sparks firing in the cylinders...until he meets Donald Shimoda — former mechanic and self-described messiah who can make wrenches fly and Richard's imagination soar....

In Illusions, Richard Bach takes to the air to discover the ageless truths that give our souls wings: that people don't need airplanes to soar...that even the darkest clouds have meaning once we lift ourselves above them... and that messiahs can be found in the unlikeliest places — like hay fields, one-traffic-light midwestern towns, and most of all, deep within ourselves.

    Bill, Thanks for sharing!

    My spontaneous chain of thoughts:

Besides the fact that anecdotes like this is a fun and thought provoking read, it's impossible to escape the very real seriousness implied by the erratic morphing behaviour of our percieved physical reality, including timeshifts.

I'm hinting at the Mandela effect or alternate physical realities merging and or crossing paths with each other, selectively including or excluding the observing person(s).

It's easy to imagine an elusive superior intelligence actively teasing us, manipulating the parameters of the holographic time/space projector(?) responsible for our human habitat, maybe to peak our curiosity, and thereby promote our consciousness to develop in a certain fashion.

Wouldn't it be lovely to be able to actively interact a bit more closely with the phenomena itself!?

A while back, a friend of mine shared apartment with a presumed poltergeist / demon, try to believe it, an array of various small items but also entire pieces of furniture disappeared to never return, while other things did return in the most unexpected and peculiar places.

For example, turning his back for two seconds and a set of plastic small scale shipcrew figures placed on a model ship could totally rearrange or disappear. A rich pool of wildly varying incidents forced my friend to move out, he even experienced the hitchhiker effect for a while in his new home.

Poltergeists are obviously able to demonstrate at least some light version of the effects tied to the concept of alternate realities, this is additional food for thought.

Really odd Bill. I'd say you have an unseen companion, one with a mind for mischief.

It reminds me of the Teleporting Keys, where Patient describes some equally inexplicable weirdness. I posted one of my own experiences there - a ring that seemed to literally vanish from physical reality. But in that case it never turned up again. It bamboozles me to this day!

    Yes

I have experienced this phenomenon on both large and small scales.

Small being a single event. Large being a haunting.

It is good to write it down and acknowledge it for yourself. Especially if it occurs again and again.

With the haunting there was a type of rhythm of occurrences.

The single event can be attributed to many things - shifts in the timeline or drifting close to an alternate but similar universe. Or a playful spirit, showing you that they exist. A fairy or leprechaun?

It may be that along with some other odd experiences that you have had of late, the spirit world is making itself known to you.

Things like this happen to all of us over the years and I believe that we must view these events differently. As esoteric as this may sound, the event you experienced was otherworldly. We then can determine that this was no accident it was very much intentional. I have always viewed these episodes as a message from a friend of a loved one that has passed. If you examine what exactly was missing and for how long you may come to some sort of conclusion in a reasonably short period of time. Also, examine everything that happened while your wallet was missing. Usually, these things are fairly easy to figure out once we get over the mystical nature of these affairs and consider it just part of our life. It has also been my experience that the information being conveyed is never about life or death or even earthshaking.

    Yes, sometimes just playful.

In many experiences I came to the conclusion that there was no deep meaning - it was a playful spirit/entity that is giggling to itself as you spend time trying to make sense of it.

Or as rgray said, it could hold meaning that would make sense only to you.

There are many aspects to this and the cool thing is that it is your experience.

Also, it is like believing in UFOs but never having a personal sighting. Then you have a personal sighting and then you really know for sure that they exist.

It is like explaining what it feels like to have a son or daughter being born. You can't fully convey what it feels like or how it changes a person. When a person has a child, then they know.

It was some sort of manifestation, they play tricks on us all the time.

I saw myself such manifestation more than once, the most remarkable one was the day I was with a witch in her house and a dark entity that was around manifested itself and shattered the glass of an old cabinet. I know what I saw, it was freaking real and I almost had a heart attack, it was very hard to keep myself out of panic mode, I was around 19 years old, it wasn't funny at all, that was when I start to believe in the supernatural.

She told me some of them are very perverse and cause all sort of problems including sickness, others just want to have "some fun", not all of them has the power to manifest into the physical world but they can influence.

My wife's father who passed many years ago, was a monk himself for a few years, he was a medium and could see and communicate with them, he used to light a little candle and offer food daily, he understood very well about the hungry ghost realm, unhappy spirits that lost their physical body but somehow still believe they are alive and wander hopelessly around.

Pray for them Bill, light a candle, wish them good vibes and happiness, they are lost in the demons or hungry ghosts realm, some of them has no idea they already died. For what you described it seems it belongs to the hungry ghosts realm (peta loka) which are mostly unhappy spirits searching for fulfilment.

    All the best Bill.

And no-one else was in the house the whole time the wallet disappeared. I do think it was 'playful'.... maybe (guessing wildly here!) something trying to get my attention.

(If so, it has my attention now, and I'm listening! )

Bill, if memory serves, you had a visitation in the Himalayas whilst you were climbing, did you not?

Perhaps this is a friendly reminder from friends past?

The phenomena you described Bill happens regularly at my home. Keys, eye glasses, a wrist watch, knives, and other items of daily importance, but not of great value, nor irreplaceable, disappear at our house for weeks or months, and then, after many, many searches for the items by not just one, but several people, reappear and are found right where we left them in the first place. We think a friendly ghost or spirit is having a little fun with us.

For my money you were being fiddled with by a friendly but prankster-ish spirit.

These things such as this experience in this time of digital. are very trying on the minds of many.

    even the most intellectual

minds of many that thought they were intellectual , Are being used at every single moment.

what is going on now is very real. you will find it bill wait for it to come to you.

I love stuff like this. Maybe it’s a glitch in the system, who knows. Whatever or whoever is up to this, seems playful, like you said. I imagine quite a few entities could be interested in attaching or interacting or playing with you. Time to cleanse your home with smoke….x…. N

I once was wearing my grandmothers high school ring. I never took it off... This day, I happened to look down at it and noticed the entire top piece had come off!

I knew that they made these "Mass Production" and would use a cheap solder to affix the top crest piece, depending on whatever school you attended, but the fact that it belonged to my grandmother, and she had passed, devestated me...

I had one small carpeted area in my entire house, in the center of the livingroom. It ran the whole room with a 2 foot border, showing the wooden floors at the edges.. I sat in my chair, thinking I would never find it, when a thought, and voice that was not my own, came into my mind and told me to look within a four foot radius from the exact spot from where I was sitting..

I thought it would have been impossible as I had no idea how long it had been missing, and I had been busy that day... But I got on my hands and knees, and in a half circle radius, dug in the carpet .. Almost instantly, I found it!

The oddest thing about this was that for the next hour or so, the room lit up with voices of what sounded like a gathering, as one would hear at a family Thanksgiving dinner, or birthday celebration. I looked outside to see if the neighbors were having a party... At which point I heard the voice again say to me, "He isn't here yet, but he will be"... It was obvious the comment was being made directly to me, but where were these sounds coming from? Whose party was it, and who was "He"?

It was as if there was another world having a party in my livingroom, and they could all see me, yet I couldn't see them, but I could hear them! It was as if there was a frequency shift and everyone got excited that the one girl that they could always see, suddenly could hear "them"...

I still have never experienced anything like that either before or since, but I remember it as if it was yesterday. Whatever happened, they clearly COULD see the top to the ring in their "Frequency"... Perhaps they didn't have a carpet on their floor there... But I sure did...

I will never know what that was, but I immediately had it professionally reattached, and now wear the ring sparingly...

And each time I put it on, I touch the top, and remember that magical, thought provoking experience...

This book can be downloaded here for anyone interested. I always found books by Richard Bach magical and fascinating.
