I thought astrology was a serious subject, and I am puzzled to hear of the import ascribed to an asteroid simply because someone named it 1930 Lucifer.

The linked Wiki says that it was first discovered in 1954, and then rediscovered and named in 1964. No explanation for the 1930 in the name, and no astrological credentials given for the scientist (or team of scientists) who named it.

The included Hollywood compilation of clips is surely no more than half *ast*, though I welcome an explanation.

Words have meaning, but IMO that name, chosen for the slightly higher albedo of this 30-40 km-wide distant-lump, is not significant.

To thepainterdoug, what is this talk about Pluto? I don’t get the connection.

It's simple, Pluto is not in the same sign.
Saturn entered Pisces conjunction Lucifer and Pluto in Aquarius 30° apart, equals one sign...

the number is the code of the asteroid, each asteroid has a number.
Astrology is an art of symbolic interpretation between heaven and earth. Nobody asks you to believe it...
