Seems like October 13 is a recurring 'special' date.
    Indeed. Adding to your list.
    • October 13th, 54 A.D. the Emperor Claudius of Rome was assassinated by poisoning, presumably by his wife Julia Agrippina so that her son Nero could become Emperor. Nero, as most know, was one of the most cruel and disastrous Emperors in history.
    • Quote On Friday October 13, 1307 the Templar Knights in France were arrested by order of the king.
    • October 13th, 1884. After Pope Leo XIII said mass, presumably at the Vatican in Rome

Quote ... he turned to step down the stairs and allegedly collapsed, falling into what was originally thought to be a coma, but was rather a mystical ecstasy. As the priests and cardinals rushed to his side, Leo XIII rose and visibly shaken, brushed off his aides and rushed back towards his apartment where he immediately wrote the Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel. Leo XIII reportedly saw a vision of demons being released from Hell, however, just as the vision ended, he saw Saint Michael charge in and drive them all back into Hell. Leo XIII mandated that the prayer be said after every Mass from that point forth.

    • Quote The Fatima 'miracle of the sun' occurred on Saturday October 13, 1917
    • October 13th 1973, in a Catholic convent near Akita, Japan, sister Agnes Sasagawa receives the last of the three messages, and the most apocalyptic of the three. A statues of Mary had previously been seen to be weeping, and images of it had be broadcast on Japanese television. On this occasion, many nuns said they saw the statues come of life.

After I wrote this, I was wondering about Sister Agnes of Akita. Was she still alive? And then, this was suggested by Youtube:

Indeed she is! She turned 93 in May. She is living in a secular care facility. Her mind is still sharp but she needs lots of care. The facility does not allow visitors because of COVID (they are now observing strict rules that we would have seen in place in the U.S. two years ago.) There is not much to say about from this visit but the makers of the video are hoping to soon follow up.

The makers of the video also speculated that they think the church wants to see her as forgotten. And I think they are right. The church does not want to hear from any more visionaries, especially those that have a certain amount of fame. They don't want them speaking out about how the church is going to fall apart.

Here's some of my misgivings and questions about these prophecies. First, I should say that I was born and raised in the middle of a very religious Catholic family/community. I recall clearly the intense piety and rituals of the Catholic church. As a child I never questioned anything, but as a teenager I learned the history of the church, also I read the entire bible, and decided that I no longer wanted to be part of the Catholic church. (Jesus' message of 'be kind to others' was enough.)

The above prophecies mention that many top clergy in the church WILL become apostate, i.e. at some future time. But as far as I'm concerned, top clergy in the catholic church became apostates way back in the middle-ages when they ordered or condoned the terrible torture and executions of those deemed heretics or witches, the violent 'crusades', etc. Is it too harsh of me to say that the lack of remorse and reparation on the part of the church for those crimes points to ongoing apostasy to this day. So, these prophecies of upcoming apostasy sound rather hollow to me. As well as the call for repetitive prayers, scapularies, holy water, sacrifices, and weeping statues.

Such ritualistic practices may result in various outcomes. On one hand they train one's mind to focus and reshape towards certain aspirations. On the other hand, rituals may induce a state of hypnosis that may weaken one's ability for critical thinking. But there is a third potential impact regarding continuous prayers for protection from a prophesied world-wide catastrophe. It has to do with the fact that our thoughts and consciousness have an impact on the material world. What if these prayers about impending disaster raise the level of psychic energy to the point that it actually creates or aggravates the disaster.

Then enters the ETs scenario and their ability to alter human consciousness, which I personally think is the most likely source behind all these visions. Is there a possibility that ETs are deliberately manipulating human consciousness to create a critical mass of docile people that will follow instructions to pray about an impending catastrophe. In other words, they use people's manipulated psychic energy to induce certain geo-political disasters, or steer these events into certain directions.

Okay, that's the worse case scenario. Perhaps the 12,000 years cycle impending disaster is unavoidable, and few will survive anyway. And I could be completely wrong about everything...

Dear son, listen carefully: October this year will begin a period of great tribulation, foreseen by me when I was in France, in Portugal and in Spain. On those three occasions, I spoke about the cause for these [coming] tribulations. Be prepared, above all spiritually, for this period will not start with thunder, but will be gradual and will spread slowly throughout the world.

The war [already] started will increase, as you saw above. There will be droughts, great storms and earthquakes in various places in the world. But as My Divine Son says: when you hear rumors, don’t be afraid!
Use the Miraculous Medal always, starting today, and also distribute it to your flock. Illness will not be the only evil that will spread; spiritual evil will be worse. Illness, however, will be a great scourge. Place the Medal of St. Benedict on the door and do not fail to wear the Scapular. Have blessed candles, blessed oil and holy water. Have no more doubts about the Good Samaritan Oil, bless it and use it. Try to maintain the state of grace, because the demons will attack humanity with very strong temptations, above all against the priests.

Pray for them and pray for you too, who are also a priest. Always remember who you are! Pray also for your Bishop and for all bishops. Pray a lot for the Holy Father, fasting and making sacrifices for him. I, your Mother and Queen, will be with all those who have entrusted themselves to my care and will not leave any of my children destitute, as I promised many times.

I must alert you: these times are part of what I said in my Third Secret, in Portugal. On October 13th, I will give you a sign, as you asked me; that’s why I showed you that date. I received from God the mission to guard, with the holy angels that the Lord placed at my service, all those who gave their lives to me. There will be great devastation from Russia, instigated by the Dragon from Hell. This will cause damage to the all the world.

But you however, fear not! This is the opportune time for holiness. Remember that the great saints appeared in moments of great darkness. Times of tribulation, especially this one, must not be faced with fear and cowardice, but with love and courage. See, son, that is why I have called you in this hour, so that you may remember and announce that the opportune time for holiness is now, today — not tomorrow.

Eucharistic Adoration must be your anchor, and the chain of that anchor, the Holy Rosary. Eucharistic Adoration, acts of reparation and sacrifices, united with the Holy Rosary, can change all the prophecies! Don’t forget this: Adoration and Holy Rosary. Do penance, offer sacrifices for the salvation of souls, for the conversion of sinners and the sanctification of the Clergy.

Remember that the Lord knows everything and commands everything. Soon, the triumph of My Immaculate Heart will arrive! Remain faithful in this time of purification, trust in the help of your Guardian Angel. The time for saints is now. Pray, dear son, pray and watch, as I called you today. Pray and watch.
    Ecclesiasticus 18:7-14
There is a simple rule, no apparition or messages has to contradict the Scriptures, if so, then it's not a real one. I have marked those words where they contradicts the Scriptures. If those words marked weren't said, I would have taken them into consideration. The only thing that caught my attention was that she has called Jesus in the right way "my divine son" and not son of God or god himself.

But you may be missing the most important point.

I very much doubt that these visions were from the 'real' Virgin Mary, or any traditional Catholic personage. (And the same with the messages imparted to many other visionaries at Fatima, Akita, Garabandal, Zeitoun, Medjugorje, the Cajas mountains of Ecuador, Rwanda, and literally dozens of others.)

The key thing here is that (a) something real happened in every instance (these were not fantasies or delusions), and (b) there's a marked similarity in much of the information received.

Someone or something, of a paranormal nature, is trying to tell us something.
We need to remember that not all the beings that have imparted such messages were connected with Catholic tradition. The Hopi Prophecies, as just one example.

Our own human traditions and beliefs might simply be being used as a vehicle to impart messages that might be heard. Maybe we should listen?

I think those prophecies has something in common, they all refer to: The end of this cycle (Day of Judgement). All Scriptures speak about that, all prophets have said that it will come when nobody expects it, but still there will be signs that it has approached. I am not speaking about christianity, because Jesus and Mary weren't christians at all. Christianity was a religious branch formed after Jesus timeline. They were chosen by God, to speak God's message, as there were others before and after.
Our question is: Will something happen to restore this balance and the majority will start to live in the right way until the End, or there will be only tribulations until the End. I hope that until next year, we will have an answer for that.

Here you go again, using Islamic texts and Islamic theology to judge things that happen within the Christian world.

This is a little bit like finding fault with someone's sentences written in Mandarin Chinese because they violate the rules of Latin grammar, or moving your chess pieces on the board according to the rules of checkers.

Mariology, the study of Mary, the mother of Jesus, has always been pursued by theologians and made to be in conformity with Christian Bible. Of course, different Christian denominations and theologians will disagree about her perpetual virginity, whether she had children after Jesus, whether she is an intercessor, whether or not she is sinless, and whether the woman who gave birth to Jesus is related to the same as the being behind these apparitions. Nevertheless, this entire body of theology does not contradict the Christian Bible.

In some denominations, there are doctrines like The Dormition of Mary (Eastern Orthodox and some Oriental Orthodox), The Assumption of Mary (Roman Catholic, some Oriental Orthodox and some Anglican) and the Immaculate Conception (just Roman Catholic). None of these doctrines are supported by scripture, but they don't contradict it either. They are supported by tradition, not scripture. These beliefs have been passed on for almost two thousand years through writings, oral tradition, art, music, poetry and rituals. Many religions of the world, especially pagan ones, have no scripture, or have not through most of their history, and are completely defined by tradition. For the majority of Christians (Roman & Eastern Catholics, Eastern & Oriental Orthodox, Anglicans) our beliefs are defined by scripture and tradition. Of course, some Protestants would disagree and see that beliefs are only justified by scripture and would see these tradition based beliefs as heresy.

I don't mean to preach or go off topic here, just to correct the errors which you are once again introducing into this and other threads, which make them go off topic. So that we can have a clearer and more meaningful discussion on the forum, I would suggest that when you say "The Scriptures", you need to be clear about what that means. Both the word "The" and the capitol "S" in scriptures would incidate that you are talking about a clearly agreed upon body of texts. Since the vast majority of people on the forum are from "Christendom", that is, the world dominated by Christianity (The English, Spanish and Portuguese speaking world, European Countries (not including Bosnia, Kosovo, Albania), they most probably and rightly assume that "The Scriptures" referes to the Christian Bible (which includes the Hebrew bible) and not the Koran. Of course, the forum could benefit by someone who was a good scholar of the Koran, but like everyone else, that person should be clear about which texts they are talking about.

You answered by yourself what christianity is about. It's mainly tradition than Scripture. If I have to put a percentage I would say 20% Scripture, 70% tradition and 10% constant changes.
When I refer to Scriptures, I don't refer only to Quran but to every Scripture since time of Abraham, without the changed part that made Jesus son of God or god.
Torah, Psalms, Bible and Quran had to be only additional to each other and not contradicting and from all the Scriptures, the only part that contradicts is the part where Jesus is said to be son of God or god. That is obvious for everyone who is into Scripture that it is a corrupted part.

Eagle Eye thank you for the percentages.

ALL Scriptures (those used by Judaism, those used by Christianity, those used by Islam, those used by Zoroastrism – but also, I have heard, the canonical texts of Buddhism) have been damaged by all kinds of events including natural catastrophes, as well as redacted, corrected and rewritten for religious-political or just political reasons.

As far as Islam goes, the hawadith are probably more reliable (thanks to the chain of transmission) than the Quranic Surahs themselves, which show interpolations, conflations, as well as traces of scrambling and distortion of passages. After the Prophet died, the powerful had no issues streamlining the “Word of God” to their needs.
The Sufi, who are the real depositories of the Quranic message (“Read!”), interpret the Scriptures according to the spirit, not the letter (which was also recommended by Paul).

This very evening I had a fascinating theological discussion with a young hitchhiker and devout Christian which led us to the agreement and common understanding that it is faith in the Divine, love for the Divine, and – to add a Christian note here – hope that the Divine will come to us that justify the Scriptures, and not the Scriptures that justify our faith, love and hope.

The spirit needs the letter to spread its wings, but the letter without the spirit dies at birth.

Please go back to my last post, I clearly and absolutely DID NOT SAY THAT and it is very clear that you are intentionally mangling my word !!!! I said that some Christianity is based on Scripture AND Tradition. I never said anything like MOSTLY Tradition. In fact, if I had to put a percentage on it, it would be 99% scripture. Since I know the Roman Catholic religion the best, I can tell you that based on the Catechism, the official teachings to the people of the church, 99% is based on Scripture and and 1% on Tradition. That is also true for the Liturgy - the texts that are proclaimed in church. There are only two R.C. doctrines which come from tradition: The Assumption and The Immaculate Conception. Some Protestants would insist that their theology is 100% derived from scripture.

Quote When I refer to Scriptures, I don't refer only to Quran but to every Scripture since time of Abraham, without the changed part that made Jesus son of God or god.
In other words, your are talking about ISLAM. Your are referring to the Quran, and to other texts as re-interpreted by Islamic theology in a way that no Christian (and possibly no Jew) would relate to. And you are talking to an audience here where the vast majority, if they know much about Abrahamic religions, know much more about Christianity and Judiasm. But instead of saying "from an Islamic perspective" or "according to the Quran" you talk about "The Scriptures" as if this was some pan-Abrahamic perspective, which there clearly is not. So you are being knowingly deceptive. You are being dishonest here and also when you mangled my words which are clearly different from the post above. I don't believe there are any scriptural traditions in the world that would appreciate your dishonesty. And here are some scriptural excerpts to back this up:
Quote [Quran 33:70–1] O you who believe, reverence GOD and utter only the correct utterances. He will then fix your works, and forgive your sins….

[Psalm 15:1–2] O Lord, who may abide in your tent? Who may dwell on your holy hill? Those who walk blamelessly, …and speak the truth from their heart.

[John 1:17] The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

[Hindu scripture — Mahābhārata 12.190.5] Where there is truth, there is Dharma; where there is Dharma, there is light; and where there is light, there is happiness….

[Buddhist scripture — The Dhammapada 223] ….Overcome the liar by truth.

[Saying of Confucius] “They who know the truth are not equal to those who love it, and they who love it are not equal to those who delight in it.”

    Mod note from Bill:

please. This thread is about the Visions of Father Oliveira, and their possible connection to (a) current events, and (b) various other visions and prophecies over the years. We have no reason to doubt that his experiences are real, or that Father Oliveira (a pseudonym, btw) is both a devout Catholic and a man of the highest integrity.

My own interest in this topic (and I suspect, that of most readers) is what his visions might help us understand about possible imminent global events. It's very clear to me that we're all being warned about something, by someone or something. What those unknowns might be seems to be worth considering and discussing.

We could readily open another thread about the authenticity of the many reported Marian apparitions as seen through the lens of the Catholic Church, or as measured by a range of other standards. I have no problem with that at all.

But for me, the issue of the apparitions' authenticity (or 'approval', as is sometimes written) has already been established by the Catholic Church itself, with a handful of events still apparently being 'studied'. (After all these years, too!) My lay understanding of what that stated 'authenticity' means is that it's been formally judged that these events, together with their messages, really were experienced exactly as reported.

Carlos Caso-Rivendi, who has been reporting all of Father Olivera's visions to his English-speaking followers, linked to this new article yesterday. I'll copy it in full. The article was published in September 2022.

Prophecy: War will break out in Europe after Pope visits Moscow

Glenn Hudson, an expert on the apparitions of Our Lady of Garabandal, explains our Blessed Mother's warnings of conditional chastisement, Padre Pio's belief in the apparitions, and what it all means for Catholics today.

Here’s something truly fascinating: You know how this movie is coming out with Shia LaBeouf about a very famous saint in the Catholic Church called Padre Pio? Well, Padre Pio, while he was alive, he had the stigmata, the wounds of Jesus in his hands and feet and so on. But he was super well known also for his love for a particular apparition of Our Lady, the mother of Jesus, to people to explain what was coming in the world.

The prophets always foretell what’s coming in the world, and one of the most astounding things about this vision in Garabandal was about what was coming. What was coming is a possible chastisement.

But before that, also a warning to all mankind, where they will be able to see what their soul is like. And that is all predicated on what’s coming right before that: the Pope’s visit to Moscow.

Remember how Pope Francis said right before he came to Canada that he was still going to go to Canada, he’s not going to retire, and then then after that he’s going to Moscow? Check it out; it’s in the news.

We’re going to talk about that right now with the world’s foremost expert on Garabandal. In fact, not only just expert in it, but someone who is the spokesman for the last living visionary of Garabandal, Conchita González.

In this episode of The John-Henry Westen Show, you’ll hear Glenn Hudson explain our Blessed Mother’s warnings of conditional chastisement, Padre Pio’s belief in the apparitions, the prophecy about a European war after the Pope’s visit to Moscow, and what it all means for Catholics today.

    The Prophecy of Archbishop Malachy:
In the final persecution of the Roman Church, there will sit Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people.

If that prophecy will become true, it means that after pope Francis, the next one (most probable) will be Peter Turkson, the black pope. He will witness the fall of Vatican.

Yes. Saint Malachy's prophetic list of future popes, which was discovered in 1590, has been the subject of much controversy and disagreement. It's all here in full, and does seem to correspond closely with the possibility of the imminent end of the papacy (and presumably the end of the Catholic Church).

I posted this back on 9 May:

    Quote Posted by Szymon (here)
Here is what the Henoch Prophecies say about the pope.

Quote “After the turn of the millennium, the papacy will exist only a short period. Pope John Paul II is the third from last in this position. After him, only one additional pontificate will follow. Then a Pontifex Maximus follows who will be known as Petrus Romanus. Under his religious rule, the end of the Catholic Church will come, a total collapse becoming inevitable. That will be the beginning of the worst catastrophe that will ever have befallen the human beings and the Earth. Many Catholic clerics, priests, bishops, cardinals and many others will be killed and their blood will flow in streams. But also the reformed version of Christianity will become just as infinitely small, as does Catholicism.”

This information was published in 1987 by Billy Meier (and has been online since at least 2006)
In rather grim black and white:

If this is accurate, that means that the current Pope Francis would be the last pope. He's currently 86 years old, and he'll be 87 in December. So this would imply that whatever war and/or catastrophe is foretold here, the timing would certainly be within the next 6 or 7 years — and probably within the next 3 or 4.

Knowing the fact that one pope has resigned and another has taken his place, it's probable that there is a last one to come, before the event.

Has people ever asked: why Vatican has never been attacked (except accidents that has happened)?

Every prophet has been attacked by evil forces. People in power of that time tried to kill Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad. Jerusalem (The Holy Land) has been attacked many times, also Mecca has been attacked and destroyed. So all those things that were appointed holy by God has been a target by evil forces.
So why Vatican has never been a target by evil forces?! I have the answer, but christians won't like it.

According to Malachy prophecy, it says a terrible judge (not a terrible enemy, or terrible oppressor). So maybe was refering to someone who will bring justice in a hard way, even if it means to destroy Vatican.

The hierarchy of evil, hidden by the illusion of good on the outside. Lucifer playing his game of deception as an angel and as the devil.
If someone will be chosen to bring the justice, has to start from there.

They all wanted a place in the hierarchy of power, so they mirrored Vatican.

At your first thought, whose throne does it look like?!
