— The death toll of Palestinians has risen to 370, with 2,200 injured, the Ministry of Health said. Israeli losses were 650 killed and 2,156 wounded.

— The IDF is moving heavy equipment to the Gaza Strip for ground operations, and to the northern border to repel a possible invasion from Lebanon.

— IDF aircraft continue to strike the Gaza Strip. According to the latest reports, the headquarters of the National Islamic Bank was attacked.

— Residents of northern Israeli settlements are being urged to evacuate due to a possible invasion.

— Hamas has not announced the exact number of hostages, as promised this morning.

— The Lebanese army announced Israeli attacks on its territory. The IDF also reported missile and drone launches from Lebanese territory.

— Hamas announced the start of mass shelling of Israeli territory at 18:00 and called on Hezbollah to join.

Gaza is an appalling situation and the treatment and living conditions of Palestinians there is reprehensible.

However the idea that Hamas is the solution to the plight of the Palestinian people is ludicrous. The reality is they prolong the problem and give "justification" to an Israeli response which has consistently proved to be very damaging to the Palestinian people.

This is a highly complex problem with seeming no resolution. I would beg to differ and certainly violence compounded upon violence on both sides is never going to be the answer.

It's time the West stopped getting involved and let the regional powers find solutions to their regional problems.

Let's deal with realities here. Take off the binary gloves and consider the current predicament the Palestinian people find themselves in.

Israel has declared war against Hamas. What happens now if Israel razes Gaza to the ground as it has alluded too?

What happens to 2m Palestinians who would then be refugees?

How has Hamas's recent actions helped the Palestinian people in that context?

Does anyone seriously imagine that increasing resistance to Israeli actions via acts of violence is going to curb Israeli responses? Sadly wrt Gaza we might be about to find out how disproportionate their response might be.

This is not a binary problem with 0 and 1 solutions. There has to be another way because the binary approach had clearly failed. We are dealing with something of immense complexity.

I agree, there is no 'good' here, and no 'right' side.

Both sides are driven by an intense and ancient hatred of the other. Israel because they see the Palestinians as squatters on their land. The pockets of Israel the Muslim Palestinians now occupy only really came into being when the Rashidun Caliphate brutally conquered the Levant (essentially what is now the Middle East, including Israel) in the 7th century. But going back to the Canaanites, it had been Jewish land for millennia...

In their long history the Jews have been invaded, subjugated, used, abused and slaughtered by the Babylonians, Egyptians, Romans, Byzantines, then the Muslims, then Christian Crusaders, then the Ottomans -- then the Nazis. The Zionist movement was born out of all this death, horror and upheaval, and you can sort of understand why they "hate".

The Palestinians for their part have been treated, since the beginning of this movement, like second-class citizens -- lower than that. Some have called Gaza the largest open-air prison in the world, and you can see why. And you can also see, historically speaking, why they agitate against Israel for an independent Palestine. Because their claim is also ancient; it's ingrained in their history, culture and tradition. With the quite ghastly living conditions forced on them by their Jewish overlords, you can understand their hatred too.

So there is no "right" side, not in this battle. It's hatred versus hatred, and it's been simmering for centuries. When hate reaches this dire extreme people aren't even people anymore, they're just something to be exterminated.

I don't believe Israel was caught with its pants down here. It seems highly likely they "allowed" Hamas to strike as hard as they did, as it served as a pretext for war -- a war that they themselves desired. A war, perhaps, to eradicate Palestine altogether, even drive them out of Jerusalem. The ultimate goal [just speculating here]: to return the Temple Mount to Jewish hands (there is a prophecy that the "new" temple must be built on the mount before the last days can take place.)

For all the blood about to be spilt, this is yet another sad day on planet Earth. If not quickly resolved this could turn into something very dreadful.

Two main reasons.

1. Bibi showing his 'New Middle East' map at the UN completely erasing Palestine.

2. Serial provocations at Al-Aqsa, including a storming by hundreds of Israeli settlers.

Al-Aqsa is a definitive red line - for Palestinians, for the Arab world, and for the lands of Islam.

Yet there's WAY more.

The dead giveaway is the Israeli rhetoric of a 'Pearl Harbor'.

Everyone knows what it means.

Project Ukraine is dead.

So the Masters of the Universe need a new war ("on terror") to set West Asia on fire.

Peaceful West Asia means reconstruction for Syria, redevelopment for Iraq and Lebanon, Iran and Saudi Arabia as part of BRICS 11, the Russia-China strategic partnership respected and engaged all across West Asia.

The Northern Sea Route is already in effect, directly undermining the Suez Canal.

One of the key themes discussed at Valdai at the highest level was de-dollarization.

All of the above is anathema for the usual suspects.

Mossad and IDF caught by surprise is childish fantasy. They knew it was coming.

The question now is whether Hezbollah will be coming to town.

“The establishment of an independent Palestinian state, within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, is an irreversible necessity that can no longer be delayed.”

The 1967 borders are the borders before the Six Day War. Then, in particular, eastern Jerusalem (the old city and the main shrines) and the western bank of the Jordan River were under Arab control. These territories were occupied by Israel during the war.

And the issue of borders is still one of the main stumbling blocks.

In 2020, for example, Trump presented a peace project that included the creation of a Palestinian state within reduced borders without control over most of East Jerusalem.

Israel supported this plan. But
but the Palestinians and Arab countries flatly refused, repeating their position - Palestine only within the 1967 borders with the capital in east Jerusalem.

Her colonist mindset is very clear, and it's important to stress I absolutely do *not* share her view of Palestinians. However, also important to note this operation would've entailed an enormous amount of planning, and an enormous amount of people being in the loop. The people involved also apparently had the time and inclination to produce a slick, promotional video detailing *exactly* what they were planning to do (see below). I have been involved in pro-Palestinian activism for almost two decades, and during that time I've not only witnessed Israel repeatedly provoke Hamas into carrying out "rocket" attacks that are then exploited to justify torpedoing peace negotiations, and genocidally carpet bombing the Occupied Territories, but also learned quite a bit about Israeli surveillance methods and technology. Among them, silent surveillance drones the size of insects, which are used to perpetually monitor the movements and statements of suspected freedom fighters. The odds of Israeli intelligence not having any idea this was coming are effectively zero. Some have attributed the stunning success of this operation to Israeli complacency and hubris. Well, what if that complacency and hubris encouraged Tel Aviv to allow the attack to happen, and gravely underestimate its scale and likelihood of success? Given Netanyahu's domestic political problems, and the recent purge of Artsakh, an event unifying Israelis and Tel Aviv's Western backers and justifying a literally killer blow against the Palestinians couldn't have come at a better time.

I have spent 3 months in Israel working on a border kibbutz many years ago, when Israel's border in the northeast was the Jordan River, and soldiers were permanently on rotation living on the kibbutz. In March of 2020 I returned to Israel for the first time since that earlier stay, but this time the Covid plandemic was nipping at our heels.

My Kibbutz stay was an eye opener in the sense that I was an American Jewess who was quite idealistic, a peacenik, and horrified by the hardened, cynical attitude of most Israelis regarding any possibility of peace with the Palestinians, or the larger Arab world. Since then, we have seen the Abraham Accords do a workaround the Palestinian intransience towards the existence of Israel. And the American media never gave these Accords their full due because they were accomplished under Trump.

Between the time of my earlier stay in Israel, and my recent short visit, I have given much thought to why Israelis were in a forever war, and have come to the following conclusions. First, most Israelis today do not have European backgrounds, as only 31% of Israelis are Ashkenazi Jews, originating from Eastern Europe. The majority of Israelis have Mizrahi or Sephardi backgrounds, meaning they are either North African Jews, originating from Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and other Arabic countries, and Spain. Secondly, Israel has 9 million people, while the rest of the Arab/Muslim world has 400 million people. Israel is swimming in an Arab/Muslim sea, where the consciousness of that Arab/Muslim community is quick to anger based upon its historical cultural tendencies. That leads to militancy which is new to Jewish culture, but I feel that the surrounding consciousness has absorbed Israeli consciousness quite fully, resulting in a mirror reflection of that part of the world. And remember that two-thirds of Israel's population have ancient roots in Arab/Muslim countries.

Now, my personal opinion regarding the Hamas attack that began yesterday is that both Israel and the United States, were responsible for letting it happen, if not directly orchestrating it. My current thoughts as to why has to do with the waning interest in America and Europe for supporting Ukraine in its war with Russia. If the globalist's want a long, destabilizing war that would be supported by many Americans, Israel vs. the Muslim world is a much better fit.

Sadly, very few on this planet understand the depth of the deception and manipulation blanketing the planet, especially the amount of it just in the last decade.

In my opinion there's nothing Israel can do that will "quickly resolve" the situation. Any attack in Gaza will surely involve killing civilians, women and children. (It's probably already happening now and will only get worse).

The war hawk globalists are already jumping up and down with joy as they see their lust for destroying Iran quickly becoming reality now. There's no way China and Russia will allow Iran to be destroyed. Turkey is also caught between a rock and a hard place.

I'm no expert but I see all hell breaking loose VERY soon. This, the Middle East, is the true tinder box..... WW3????? it was never about Ukraine, Ukraine is just a huge bank very good at laundering money.

I don't want to be all negative about this, but the timing of this and the severity of all the possible outcomes look VERY dark to me, I see no way this can work out peacefully.

One thing very few are talking about is about the approx. 2 million or more young males that have entered the US via the Mexico border in the last few years.....soon they will also be "told" to pick a side.

Over the last few years I've seen nothing getting "fixed", I've only seen more and more things becoming broken....
