    Default Has anyone gotten the old fashion Flu ?

    I have it right now. Going on my 8th day.

    Thats how I see it, rejecting all the fearing of OHH, are you sure its no Covid? My new C word that irritates me to no end.

    Im not sure, nor do I care what I have , Im not going to do anything differently anyhow. Nasty head cold, headache, teeth hurt, hair hurts, ( thats a good one) and coughing up stuff.

    We used to get the flu during flu season since Im a kid. And today somehow that season has been removed from reality. Its only one thing to people, and ya better march in step and get your test.

    On the good news, Im being treated to a Sopranos Marathon on HBO as I lye in bed and let my body recover.

    If you don't hear from me again, well then you'll know what it was.

    After three years of quarantining with no coughs, colds, flus, etc. I had a major chest infection for about two months and when I finally got over it, a good old fashioned head cold. Glad to know my immune system is once again responding to the normal challenges of living in the real world. Your immune system will being doing that job too Doug, while you watch the Sopranos.

    As for the flu, I have not had one since 1996, when I started taking Oscillococcinum - it's cheap, very effective, but only if you take it right when the flu hits you.

    A year ago "they" would have said you have "covid" when it was the flu. who knows what they
    will call it today? Maybe covid 2, or have they learned that we are on to them, not all of us
    unfortunately?

    I never take shots of any kind, got a cold/flu/whatever a few years ago. Took vitamins and minerals
    and was OK.

    I'm not giving advice. I avoid sugar, junk food, meat etc. Once in a while have meat or fish. May make
    a difference but who can tell?

    Hope you get well soon, Doug.
    We need your insight and always inspiring posts.

    Day 8, ack, that sounds like a rough bout. I only experienced that once, ( with Kraken ), any time previous to that 3 days in bed no food no water wiped out EVERYTHING. How far into the flu do you think you are? I hope you are starting to feel at least somewhat better, Doug. Beginning to send healing w a v e s now. Be well.

    I have a cough and congestion that won't go away - seems like weeks that I've had it, it's starting to tire me out.

    Nail on the head, couldn't agree more. Any time the subject comes up I roll my eyes, (a little, probably), and remind people about life pre-covid.

    'Remember cold's and flu's? Not much thought given, completely normal, stop whinging, it's a sniffle, que sera sera. Now it is a potential horror story! Mental!'.

    I know I have mentioned it on here before and I do not want to be repetitive but for the benefit of those who do not know - as a solid organ transplant patient on a daily regime of immuno-suppressants, I never got Covid once, OR, if I ever did it had zero effect on me other than a minor irritant. And I was not hiding, I was in Bangkok when Covid hit the world. Eating in Chinatown in street markets. One of the busiest air corriders out of China is Wuhan to Bangkok, so if everything they try to tell us is true Bangkok should have been exploding with Covid cases. Within that first fortnight Thailand had thermal cameras at every entrance to a shopping mall, also taking seats in a restaurant or arriving at a place of accommodation. Some ten days later I returned to a ghost city Heathrow airport that was almost deserted and no protocols in place for people arriving in the country. On that particular night there was not even passport control, I swear!

    They still consider the majority of S.E. Asia as the 'Third World' in the corriders of British Govt. buildings! They were way ahead of the UK in response, albeit likely false and misplaced, endeavours.

    Within (less than?)12 months I was back at work whilst the majority of the UK was still in lockdowns, thanks to my job at the time. I was in transit stations all over the UK from Aberdeen to London, I gave up on the mask after a mere three months of slight worry/concern. I frequently saw people glaring at me for not wearing the regulatory diaper, even though I could only see their eyes. I met so many people that were almost boasting about having had Covid and claiming it was just like a bad cold or a mild flu - maybe they had - but my own opinion was they had seasonal bugs and a false positive. It was like a badge of honour to some, 'I had Covid and survived!'.

    I may have started to ramble and rant a bit. I just meant to say I agree with you.

    Thanks all / Im feeling much better but like a piper cub making a landing and then bouncing back up and down a few times, it comes and goes. Tomorrow day 9 and Im hoping to play ice hockey the following day.

    Ewan/ great story. I believe in having the body exposed to things and then fighting them off with its own god given immune system as intended. What people don't want to understand is things take time in healing and such. And everyone's body is different
    My autistic nephew has been eating dirt and sand since a baby and hes 30 now. Never sick.
    Its not a contest.

    Hey Ewan, I agree with you, that time they started to talk about Wuhan-Bangkok direct flights, and it was cancelled for weeks and then reopened and then cancelled again. I met 1 Chinese person from Wuhan that time, if I was afraid about that crap I would have freaked out, instead the guy told me that he could not stand life in China anymore, "very tight control and too much bull****" <--- his own words.

    The whole thing is a clown show, their narrative is like Swiss cheese, glad we all knew, that was the time I joined PA as a member because I knew from that point on, the world had significantly changed and I knew this community and Bill were a good place to be, I mean not only during plandemic, but at all times, just look out of the window lol I can't stand that anymore.

    The idea that influenza could vanish from the human population simply because of lockdowns and extra care being taken is an absurdity, the official world has lied to the population in a shameless, brazen manner - we simply cannot trust the political class, or the medical officials in our western countries.
    Yes I had a dose of the 'flu last winter here in Perth, it was pretty rugged and the first major 'corona' type illness I had in over 10 years - I know people say that kind of thing anecdotally, but in my case it is the truth.
    I also had a bout of something strange prior to this, and the crappy diagnostic kits they were handing out told me it was 'covid' - this lasted about 3 days and was very mild.
    I usually manage to avoid Flu-I keep up my vitamin D3 levels and I have a classic 'boomer' constitution, I am fortunate.

    btw/ i have had a temp of 97.4 for several days. hummm?

    Hope you feel better soon, Doug...

    I know Old Fashioned Flu is very nasty - but I wonder if you've got the Old Fashioned Kind or a New Fangled Variety... that persistent high temperature after over a week of being very unwell shows that your body is working hard to tackle the 'problem' ...

    God only knows what might be happening regarding Bio Weapons .... there we were just a few years ago under the impression that Bio Weapons (and chemical weapons) had been outlawed and that Governments + International Bodies had been busy making sure there wasn't dangerous proliferation ...................only to find out now that there are Bio Weapons research and creation going on all over the place - trying to keep under the radar -

    You might have the Old Fashioned kind - but I do wonder...

    Back in Dec 2019 I was very ill with an odd - flu like - virus like - 'something' that I later put down to being a Lab released Bug (aka bio weapon) that was labelled Covid 19... I even remarked at the time that I felt like I'd been hit with a biological weapon - although the whole Covid fiasco hadn't started - officially..... of course we now know that the test for 'covid' is BS and the whole covid/vaccination programme is a pack of lies from start to finish..

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    But anyway...... the main thing I'm getting round to saying - is that when I was ill in Dec 2019 my chest was very tight and lungs very congested.... I could hardly get a decent breath and couldn't breath properly at night - what tipped the scales in my favour was good old fashioned Steam Inhalation...... towel over head, head over a bowl of steaming water - I added drops of Camphor Oil and I found that worked a treat.... but other oils could help like Eucalyptus, Tea Tree , Lavender for example -
    The steam inhalation loosens the phlegm - so you can cough the crap out and this clears the lungs and allows proper breathing - the coughing and spitting is exhausting and can go on for a long time but it's worth the effort I found.... or you just cannot breath properly - so you can't get better as quick as you'd like...
    So if you haven't already I would recommend Steam Inhalation - your body is obviously working hard to get better hence the persistent high temperature but it could do with all the help it can get...
    Get Well Soon......
    edit to add...... oh and lavender oil or the other essential oils I mentioned earlier put on a tissue and breathed in through the nose on a regular basis could help relieve the sinus problem.....
    Im down in Florida visiting my Dad. Three weeks ago when arriving he had been sick for about 3 weeks plus some. My brother sent Ivermectin and I ordered Nattokinase and in 5 days he was over it. Despite my plea for him not to take the Covid jab he did take two of them. It sounded like he had long Covid and when that is the case, Nattokinase is amazing as it reduces the spike protein in the body and most know how excellent Ivermectin is. For myself I haven't been sick in a while so wonder about other Avalon members if they havent heard that taking Zinc and Vitamin D3 that it stops the duplication of viruses? Interesting that the unvaccinated do not get long Covid... Best wishes to all and to healing up.
    My last major bout of flu back in the 90's taught me a big lesson about respiratory illnesses, and how not to be stupid.
    Most of my youth, I rather prided myself on working through colds and flu and stuff. But that time, after only a couple of days of misery, I felt slightly better so I got right back at it.
    I was doing an extra short-time job to bring in more funds, and was delivering phone-books. My vehicle was fully loaded with them, and I felt I had to get the darn things delivered, despite having the flu. And despite the frigid weather and the snow-storm outside. So, yeah, I did it, and came home exhausted beyond exhausted and basically collapsed. I was so very weak, and my temperature shot up to alarming degrees, I vomited, shaking... But stoic that I was, I dragged myself into a hot bath and went to bed. I thought the flu had come back.
    The aftermath left me with what dragged me out for months, and I finally saw a local doc to see what was going on. He scolded me a bit, for not getting help during this all, as that I had had massive pneumonia, but there was nothing to be done about it at that point. Apparently, just when you are feeling a little better is when you can pick up pneumonia. If the flu returns with a vengeance, it is likely pneumonia happening.
    So, since then I learned that the initial viral infection can literally explode and kill so many cells during its course that we are very depleted and weakened until we regenerate. And this requires REST, Hydration, and all the other good nutritional stuff. All our energy is being diverted to healing at that time. Never "work through it" was my lesson, as that is what will lead to pneumonia, and it is pneumonia that is and always has been the major killer.
    This lesson hit home again for me just last week, when my ex-BIL died in the hospital. He had a winter cold (his wife told me), yet he continued to work at his job as a night security guard, through cold and icy rain, even the night before. He collapsed, she called the ambulance, and the hospital said Covid. No visits. They called her to request permission for a ventilator. He was 66.
    Take it easy and heal, Doug and anyone else feeling under the weather.
    I had the 'rona back in November 2019 before it officially arrived, loads of people round here had it. Since then, just a bad cold last winter during a period of extreme stress.
    Nothing apart from that; I have two strategies to prevent colds and flu. One I learnt in Italy; from the end of September to the end of May, even when it feels really warm to us from more northern countries, every Italian wears a scarf. I was told that they say that you need to protect your throat because if you don't, you'll catch a cold. They all wrap up well too; as well as the scarves it's heavy boots, thick coats, gloves and hats. You never see shorts and t-shirts there in winter, like you sometimes do in the UK (yes, seriously).
    The other is a cough sweet made by Jakemans that we have here in Britain. If ever I get a catch in the back of the throat that threatens a full-blown sore throat, I suck Jakemans (the black ones that have a strong menthol flavour) and that nips it in the bud in no time.
    Oh yes, my OH swears by Jakemans 'cough bullets' as he calls them, all lined up (various flavours) on our dresser and yes, I always know when he has the 'menthol' ones in his mouth, as the smell stinks (our little house) out. I'm sure it also wipes out airborne bugs and the odd rodent that our cat fails to catch....
    Thanks everyone. Im on day 10, cough is finally gone, temp is 97.6 and im feeling much better. however a splitting headach still with me unless I take ibufrofen. That gives me about 6 hours of relief and then it start to sneak back in again.
    The biggest drag is 10 solid days of blowing my nose! Amazing how much stuff coming up and yes the vaporizer with oils would have been a good idea.
    The good news is no lung problems and breathing fine
    thanks!!
    Thank you for the update, Doug.. do you have a blackout mask? ( like a Mindfold )? They work wonders on any head pain that comes my way *which sadly can be common for me these days.
    I am glad to hear how much you are vacating through the nose, I congratulate you. Though, I know, it's crazy, and gets old fast, doesn't it?
    Good news on the lungs and breathing!!
