Wow. That's a huge thing. Baltimore is the eighth busiest port in America, and this will close the port for months.

    Edit to add:

The Moon of Alabama (which usually focuses entirely on geopolitics) posted this commentary:
    Baltimore Bridge Incident

As someone who lives in a harbor city I can feel a bit of the hurt that people in Baltimore will have over this:
Rescue workers scramble to save dozens after colossal Baltimore Key Bridge collapsed in moments when container ship crashed into it sending cars into the river.
There is video of the bridge collapse and a current live stream of the situation.
The ship, a large container carrier under the flag of Singapore, is leaving the harbor.
About a minute before the impact it suddenly changes course towards on of the bridge pillars. It then seems to experience a total blackout followed by the impact on the bridge pillar. After the pillar is pushed aside the whole bridge comes down.

    bigger

It seems that there were technical difficulties on board. Probably a primary rudder machine failure followed by difficulties to activate the secondary.

The ship's name is Dali. It is nine years old, 300 meter long, 45 meter wide and has a draft of some 12 meter.

There were reportedly two pilots on board.

    bigger

The bridge in question is the outer one visible on the lower right. The complete collapse of its seel girders blocks the entrance to the Baltimore harbor. Bigger ships which are now within the harbor will have difficulties to leave.

The Port of Baltimore has some economic significance:
In Maryland's economy, the Port of Baltimore generates nearly $3.3 billion in total personal income and supports 15,330 direct jobs and 139,180 jobs connected to Port work. The Port also generates more than $395 million in taxes and $2.6 billion in business income. It serves over 50 ocean carriers making nearly 1,800 annual visits.
    ...
Cargo. In Fiscal Year 2023, some 11.7 million tons of general cargo were handled by the Port's public terminals, a new record from the 11.3 million tons set in 2022. Moreover, in 2023, the Port of Baltimore handled a record 52.3 million tons of international cargo, valued at $80.8 billion. Nationally, Baltimore ranks 9th for both total dollar value and tonnage of international cargo.
Also in 2023, the Port of Baltimore handled a record 1.3 million tons of imported roll-on/roll-off cargo (ro/ro), high and heavy farm and construction equipment. The Port is the top U.S. port for roll-on/roll-off cargo.
Some U.S. Navy transport and replenishment ships are visible within the port on satellite pictures. The bridge incident could thereby have an effect on resupply missions to Europe and the Middle East.

The removal of the ship which is now stuck under a mess of broken steel girders will be a significant project.

The removal of the debris from the bridge will likely cost three digit millions. In current dollar a new bridge will likely cost above $1 billion.

And here's a very interesting tweet. Watch the short video carefully. The lights on the vessel all go out, then come on again, and then it appears to alter course to steer straight into the bridge column.

    The text:
SITREP: The Francis Scott Key Bridge was Struck by a Cargo Ship, Collapsing the Bridge.
My opinion is this was a potential cyber attack. Notice the ship lights go off before steering into the column.
Sonar indicates that several vehicles are in the water, where the temperature was about 47 degrees, Patapsco River.
Two people had been rescued, but others are believed to still be in the water. The number of those missing fluctuated between seven and 20.
Vessel traffic into and out of the Port of Baltimore has been suspended.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore declared a State of Emergency in the state and was working to deploy federal resources.

I’m not seeing any kind of water movement or wake in that video. Also seems a bit too agile a turn for a large boat to make at that speed/distance. Can someone clarify for me?

An only 8 yr old container ship would almost certainly have had an autopilot, given what they can do remotely with both cars and planes it would be no surprise to find out that nobody onboard could do a damn thing about it.

It's definitely related to the huge solar storm we had yesterday (G3), plus the lunar eclipse. I doubt there's conspiracy involved this time.

This is a MAJOR infrastructure hit.
The Port of Baltimore is the major port serving Baltimore and Washington DC. All of the shipping north of the bridge is now trapped in place. No other shipping can get in. The tunnel shown has height and hazardous cargo restrictions, it can't take the heavy trucking traffic that used the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which took YEARS to build back in the 1970s.

Everything we know so far about the "suspicious" collapse of Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland...

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, collapsed on March 26, 2024, after a container ship named the Dali crashed into one of its support pillars. The incident occurred at 1:35 a.m.

The collapse resulted in several fatalities, and search and rescue operations were immediately initiated. The water temperature at the time was around 47 degrees Fahrenheit, posing a significant risk to anyone submerged in it.

Could this just be a tragic accident?

According to a Marine Engineer on Instagram: "... it seems they had a black out, lost all power and the emergency bus came online. This only powers minimal equipment including one steering motor (on my ship). It does not mean they have propulsion yet aka main engine. So in that small period of time the engineers were scrambling to put online the main generators so that they can start various other pumps like fuel, cooling water, lube oil, in order to be able to start the main engine and they rushed a bit and blacked out again. By then it was too late."

    Why is it suspicious?

⚠️ The Dali cargo ship was previously involved in an "incident" at the Port of Antwerp in Belgium in 2016. The cause of the collision with the bridge is still under investigation.

⛔️ The bridge was undergoing concrete deck repair at the time.

🚛 The bridge was a vital shipping route in the Port of Baltimore and an essential highway artery along the East Coast of the United States.

🇺🇸 The bridge, which was named after the writer of "The Star-Spangled Banner," has significantly impacted the transportation network in the area, as it was a part of I-695, an arterial of Interstate 95.

🕰️ The power went out at the precise time to cause impact with the pillar.

🤨 The FBI was immediately on the scene and has already ruled there was no terrorism connection already.

This certainly has all the earmarks of a planned attack. Destruction of the National Anthem. Disruption of shipping routes. Same ship has had other incidents. Under repair at the exact time of the incident.

Regardless of whether this was an attack or a tragic incident, let's pray for all of the people lost and impacted by this horrific event 🙏

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t see anything that would indicate the tragedy in Baltimore was some sort of terror attack.

    Strategically, what would it accomplish?

If they wanted to terrorize the US, they would have picked a different bridge, at a busier time.

The bridge going down also does not inhibit US Military capabilities or threaten our production in any significant way. It will be a substantial inconvenience for the port of Baltimore, but it doesn’t really move the needle from a global transportation or economic perspective.

If more bridges start to go down due to “accidents”, then we can start worrying, but this, as of now, appears to be a freak accident. Yes I saw the video of the lights going off, and those claiming the ship was hacked, but I don’t see the motive and I cannot identify who would stand to benefit from the situation.

If terror cells in the US are capable of hacking ships and destroying bridges, one would think they would have chosen a bigger and better target, with significant civilian presence.

Obviously, if more information that comes out shows differently I will correct, but I don’t see how this event is some grande conspiracy. Certainly something to keep an eye on, but I wouldn’t start worrying unless we start to see similar events with regularity.

Francis Scott Key wrote the Star-Spangled Banner. This event could be an orchestrated psychological attack on the image of America.

    wiki
Quote Francis Scott Key (August 1, 1779 – January 11, 1843)[3] was an American lawyer, author, and amateur poet from Frederick, Maryland, best known as the author of the text of the U.S. national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner".[4] Key observed the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in 1814 during the War of 1812. He was inspired upon seeing the American flag still flying over the fort at dawn and wrote the poem "Defence of Fort M'Henry"; it was published within a week with the suggested tune of the popular song "To Anacreon in Heaven". The song with Key's lyrics became known as "The Star-Spangled Banner" and slowly gained in popularity as an unofficial anthem, finally achieving official status more than a century later under President Herbert Hoover as the national anthem.
    Quote Lyrics

    Oh, say, can you see
    By the dawn's early light
    What so proudly we hail'd
    At the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars
    Through the perilous fight
    O'er the ramparts we watch'd
    Were so gallantly streaming?

    And the rocket's red glare
    The bombs bursting in air
    Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there

O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free
And the home of the brave?

The cargo container ship that hit the bridge is called MV Dali and its namesake is Salvador Dali.

Quote MV Dali is a Singapore-registered container ship owned by Grace Ocean Pte Ltd. As of March 2024, the vessel was chartered by Maersk and operated by Synergy Marine Group.[3] On March 26, 2024, the ship collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, causing a catastrophic structural failure of the bridge and resulting in at least one casualty.[6]

Multiple intel sources: Baltimore bridge collapse was an “absolutely brilliant strategic attack” on US critical infrastructure - most likely cyber - & our intel agencies know it. In information warfare terms, they just divided the US along the Mason Dixon line exactly like the Civil War.

Second busiest strategic roadway in the nation for hazardous material now down for 4-5 years - which is how long they say it will take to recover. Bridge was built specifically to move hazardous material - fuel, diesel, propane gas, nitrogen, highly flammable materials, chemicals and oversized cargo that cannot fit in the tunnels - that supply chain now crippled.

Make no mistake: this was an extraordinary attack in terms of planning, timing & execution.

The two critical components on that bridge are the two load-bearing pylons on each end, closest to the shore. They are bigger, thicker and deeper than anything else. These are the anchor points and they knew that hitting either one one of them would be a fatal wound to the integrity of the bridge.

Half a mile of bridge went in the river - likely you will have to build a new one. Also caused so much damage to the structural integrity of the bottom concrete part that you cannot see & won’t know until they take the wreckage apart. Structural destruction likely absolute.

    Attack perfectly targeted.

“They have figured out how to bring us down. As long as you stay away from the teeth of the US military, you can pick the US apart. We are arrogant and ignorant - lethal combination. Obama said they would fundamentally change America and they did. We are in a free-fall ride on a roller coaster right now - no brakes - just picking up speed.”

The footage shows the cargo ship never got in the approach lane in the channel. You have to be in the channel before you get into that turn. Location was precise/deliberate: chose a bend in the river where you have to slow down and commit yourself - once you are committed in that area there is not enough room to maneuver.

Should have had a harbor pilot to pilot the boat. You are not supposed to traverse any obstacles without the harbor pilot.

They chose a full moon so they would have maximum tidal shift - rise and fall. Brisk flow in that river on a normal day & have had a lot of rain recently so water was already moving along at a good pace.

Hit it with enough kinetic energy to knock the load-bearing pylon out from under the highway - which fatally weakens the span and then 50 percent of the bridge fell into the water.

All these factors when you look at it - this is how you teach people how to do this type of attack and there are so few people left in the system who know this. We have a Junior varsity team on the field.

Tremendous navigational obstruction. Huge logistical nightmare to clean this up. Number of dead is tragic but not the whole measure of the attack.

That kind-of bridge constantly under repair - always at night because there is so much traffic and they cannot obstruct that during the day. So concern is for repair guys who were on foot (out of their vehicles) working who may now be in the water - 48 degrees at most at this time of year.

When you choke off Baltimore you have cut the main north-south hazardous corridor (I95) in half. Now has to go around the city - or go somewhere else.

To move some of that cargo through the tunnel you may be able to get a permit but those are slow to get and require an escort system that is expensive and has to be done at night.

For every $100 dollars that goes into the city, $12 comes from shipping. Believe this will cripple the city of Baltimore at a time when they do not have the resources to recover.

I'm going to rest my brain and consider this an accident likely caused by mechanical failure and or human error. If there's anymore additional "accidents" involving or affecting major infrastructure, power grids, major commerce/economic, in the next 24 to 72hrs, well, then I will think quite differently.

Video shows moment a Baltimore bridge collapses after ship collision

In 2019, politician Abbercrombie fast-tracked a law into place saying that if “anything happens to our shipping lanes, it is up to Monsanto to feed Hawai’i”. Oh yeah, he got paid over $300K to do it.

Didn’t really make sense to me until we got shut down with the pandemic. I have a feeling this is going to happen a lot more.

I’m not seeing any kind of water movement or wake in that video. Also seems a bit too agile a turn for a large boat to make at that speed/distance. Can someone clarify for me?

Most ships like that will have a propeller at the front too for maneuverability known as “bow thrusters”. Cyber attack is one possibility but a paid captain is probably easier. If you’re family gets threatened most captains I know would choose family over their career.

I’m on an IPad and a techno lightweight. So, I am not able at this time to give you the link or embed the video, but, if you want to know what happened, go to the March 26, 2024 edition of Stephen K Bannon’s Warroom and watch Laura Logan’s presentation of what caused that ship to turn abruptly and hit one of only two major weight-bearing pilings on the bridge, that if even one is undermined/damaged, would cause that highly critical and essential bridge—from an economic and supply chain standpoint—to collapse. Why? Why now? Why there? What’s else is going on? Think cyber attack. And so on.

Edit to add: Think of the symbolism too. The bridge was the Francis Scott Key Bridge. Who was he? What is one of his contributions to the history and culture of the USA?

(Many current disastrous events such as the Baltimore bridge collapse may be caused at least in part by what is going on now with the Sun, due to the Earth's diminishing protective magnetic field and ozone layer, part of the regular 12,000 solar cycles, one of which is ongoing now. Though it may be increasingly difficult to differentiate natural events from those being deliberately caused.

So, I am not able at this time to give you the link or embed the video, but, if you want to know what happened, go to the March 26, 2024 edition of Stephen K Bannon’s Warroom and watch Laura Logan’s presentation of what caused that ship to turn abruptly and hit one of only two major weight-bearing pillions on the bridge, that if even one is undermined/damaged, would cause that highly critical and essential bridge—from an economic and supply chain standpoint—to collapse. Why? Why now? Why there? What’s else is going on? Think cyber attack. And so on.
    Here it is:

    https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas...e/id1485351658

The section about the bridge incident starts at 16:15, and Lara Logan comes in at 31:00.

Apologies, here's the video. The timestamps are a little different, and here Lara comes on at 26:00. She makes a strong case that this was a cyber attack, and states she has learned from multiple sources in US intel that this is indeed what happened.
