Mass rallies erupted across Burkina Faso in support of President Ibrahim Traoré.

Demonstrators rallied against perceived foreign interference — some waving Russian flags as a symbol of resistance.

“We are not afraid. If you die because of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, you will be entitled to paradise,” declared a protester.

The marches reflect strong popular backing for the Burkinabe leader.

    2/3

The demonstrations respond to recent criticism from US General Michael Langley, who accused Traoré of exploiting national resources.

Burkina Faso's government rejected the claims as false and harmful.

A few weeks ago we explained why there are so many Russian flags in Africa; they're not even provided by Russia, in fact Moscow was just as surprised. Lol!

Massive Rallies Sweep Burkina Faso in Support of Ibrahim Traoré

On the morning of April 30, 2025, thousands gathered in Ouagadougou’s Place of the Nation, formerly known as Revolution Square, to express unwavering support for President Ibrahim Traoré.

The historic site, once a stage for Thomas Sankara’s revolutionary speeches, pulsed with energy as citizens rallied in a show of solidarity.

Similar massive mobilizations took place across major cities throughout Burkina Faso, underscoring widespread backing for Traoré’s leadership.

Photos captured the scale of the Ouagadougou gathering, showcasing throngs of supporters filling the iconic square. Organizers and attendees emphasized the nationwide scope of the demonstrations, with parallel events reported in urban centers across the country. The rallies reflect a unified call to support Traoré’s vision for Burkina Faso, echoing the revolutionary spirit of the renamed Place of the Nation.

🇧🇫Never since the revolution of 2014, has the state of Burkina Faso seen such large congregation of People for a single purpose.

Burkinabes from all works of life, from ever ethnicity, every corner of that 274,200 Sq Km landmass, came out in their drove, to express their support for Captain Traore.

From Bobo-Dioulasso to Ouagadougou, the streets were swamped in a sea of human beings, under extremely hot temperatures.

Many chanted in French , no to Neocolonialism, we are not a colony of America, no to Trump, no to Langley, long live Burkina Faso, long live IB (Ibrahim Traore).

If there were any doubt as to where public opinion in Burkina Faso lies, those hundreds of thousands of demonstrators have eradicated them.

I would like to express my gratitude to all the peace-loving, freedom-loving patriots and pan-Africanists who rallied around the world on Wednesday April 30, 2025 to support our commitment and our vision for a new Burkina Faso and a new Africa, free from imperialism and neo-colonialism.

Your active solidarity and this demonstration of sympathy strenghtens our conviction that the fight we are waging for a fairer and more equitable world is justified.

We will never bend our backs in the face of adversity; we will stand firm until our peoples are truly emancipated. With you, we are certain that victory over the forces of evil is at hand.

Together, in solidarity, we will defeat imperialism and neo-colonialism for a free, dignified and sovereign Africa.

Just a note which I think may be useful. I understand that most readers may barely know anything about Burkina Faso (or even where it is!), but the above explains quite well why this news thread is important.

🇧🇫- Allow me to come back to this! During the Council of Ministers of Thursday, April 3rd, 2025, Mr. Edouard Kabore, Economic Affairs Advisor was appointed Managing Director of the Rail Manufacturing and Laying Company (FASO RAILS).

If you recall, when Burkina Faso created the the Faso Rails, the goal is to be able to manufacture and lay the rails ourselves so that we can increase our railways capacity.

Moreover, Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 has plans to partner with Ghana 🇬🇭 to build the Ouagadougou-Accra railway. We all know that Ghana 🇬🇭 has always been a strategic partner for us in terms of bilateral relations, especially when it comes to imports-exports.

    Now, let the work begin!

By attending the grand parade and wreath laying ceremony on May 9, 2025, marking the 80th anniversary of #Russia's victory over Nazism, I pay tribute to the Soviet Army and Allied troops.

This historic victory is a source of confidence for me in the wholehearted commitment of my country and the AES Confederation to winning the war against terrorism and imperialism at all costs. The security of our States and the well-being of our populations drive and guide our daily actions.
