Just want to add my deep appreciation to Ravenlocke for the huge effort in contributions to this informative thread, as the MSM has not been particularly helpful in communicating what all has happened and information that we in the middle of this still need to know about.

Will add this link to find out what post offices are not functioning as we are not sure of ours but it may not have been able to report status yet.

Saw some interesting conspiracy theory that this hurricane and toxic fire at Conyers could have been planned to force people out from the area so they could start to dig lithium in that region. Interesting if true . Aftermath of Maui fires showed that government wasnt interested of helping people but Blackrock was very much interested to buy up a lot of land in that area... I guess we will see what comes out of it.

If so, they shot themselves in the foot, because the indispensable mines of Spruce Pine, which provides high quality quartz worldwide, are largely impacted by the damage of the surrounding roads...

"A 2018 note from Wired shows just how critical Spruce Pines area mines are for semiconductor production: "A fire in 2008 at one of the main quartz facilities in Spruce Pine for a time all but shut off the supply of high‑purity quartz to the world market, sending shivers through the industry."

Earlier this year, Tom's Hardware cited Mollick's X posts, saying the Wharton professor "provides an excerpt from Conway's Material World, which discusses the probable "end of computer chip manufacture as we know it," should something untoward happen at Spruce Pine or in the skies above it." You are welcome Mountain Jim, I hope you and your family are coping as best you can. I hope you have enough supplies to get you through this disaster. I am very sorry for all the people that have to go through this and for those who have already lost loved ones and those still waiting to find out any news about their loved ones. The news media is not covering this, very sad. I just wanted to help in some way… I will try to provide updates as I find them and as time permits. Ravenlocke

I keep all of you affected by this disaster in my prayers and hope youre all safe.

    Text:

I need people to understand something with the news coverage regarding effects of hurricane Helene. There is a lot more to the NC Mountains than Asheville.
Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Vilas, Sugar Grove, Elk Park, West Jefferson, Black Mountain, Swannanoa, Sylva, Cullowhee, Brevard, Bryson City, Hendersonville, Cherokee, Waynesville, Burnsville, Candler, Canton, Spruce Pine, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Linville, Marshall, Maggie Valley, Newland, Grandfather, Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Old Fort, Morganton, Marion are just a few of the cities and towns that have been flooded and/or destroyed. The counties of Yancey, Mitchell, Avery, Ashe, Watauga, Transylvania, Burke, Caldwell, Alleghany, Madison, Buncombe, McDowell, Rutherford, Polk, Henderson, Wilkes, Haywood, Jackson, Macon, Clay, Cherokee, and Swain are devastated and in need of the same help, some even more.
Other counties that fall under various definitions of Western North Carolina include: Alexander County, Catawba County, Cleveland County, Surry County and Yadkin County. When these counties are added, they form a total regional area of roughly 11,750 square miles (30,400 km2).
This makes the region roughly the size of Massachusetts. Western North Carolina holds 11% of our state's population.
There are millions of people up there with no electricity, no communication, no water, and no way to get out or let rescue teams even know where they are. I am not taking anything away from Asheville and the utter destruction there or any other areas in NC that have damage. The level of destruction is unimaginable. But it's not one or two cities or towns that are in need of help.
This does not include the destroyed areas in the Tennessee mountains, Western Virginia, Georgia, or South Carolina.
Please do 2 things for me:
    1. Donate to Operation Airdrop, Samaritan’s Purse, or Fleet of Angels (or all 3!)
    2. Contact news media to get coverage for ALL of Western North Carolina. People need to know the full scope of this disaster so that more people can get desperately needed help. And so more people can be located because a lot of us have loved ones up there and we don't know if they're dead or alive.
These are our homes. These are places we raise our families. These are communities I work in on a daily basis. My heart breaks for everyone involved.

Video shows some anomalies in the storm . Does seem that weather manipulation was going on again either to direct the storm or to add more power to it.

Asheville North Carolina Resident Says It’s Chaos After Hurricane Helene

He says looters are everywhere, people are vandalizing everywhere

“There were some truckers coming in with supplies and medical stuff trying to help us”, People slashed their tires at the rest stop

“The roads are completely blocked off. You're not getting out”

“If you have a weapon, keep it on you because, there are people intentionally sabotaging stuff.”

Just as expected, I found that our local farm store is gathering stuff to send in. That is why I typically prefer small businesses, because someone can actually do something.

I don't know what I will find at our large corporation today. I would say we better maintain a steady stream of stuff at least until the affected are back on their feet. Outside of Asheville, those places are really remote, there will be considerable difficulty in making a comeback. The alternate scenario is literally what the federal government is terrified of, that it only takes a couple of days without supplies, and there will be looting and violence everywhere. It tends to make people dislike the government.

Concerning quartz, lithium, etc., this is basically correct, there is high-value mining starting from America's first gold rush in 1736, through various gems, up to this stuff for modern technologies. When I mentioned Alcoa, it wasn't by way of being polite, either, but kind of a dark chapter up until maybe around the 1960s, the kind of exploitation that could happen if for some reason similar forces attempt to hog the newer resources.

Use honest taxpayers' money to do everything that private individuals are currently doing out of the sheer (uncompensated) goodness of their hearts.

Full scope of Helene devastation not clear as recovery underway: 'Our hearts are broken'
The rushing water rose five feet higher in the Swannanoa River than anyone had ever seen.

The ground disappeared on South Tunnel Road, leaving a giant sinkhole full of asphalt soup.

Houses floated away from subdivisions. Bridges crumbled. The flood waters flipped semi-trucks into mangled piles. Mud and tree branches and food from local grocery stores flowed into the streets.

Survivors traipsed through muck to find drinking water, power, wifi and cell service.

Gov. Roy Cooper called Tropical Storm Helene a "catastrophic" and "historic" event with "life-threatening floods and landslides."

The storm stretched from Florida across the southern United States, pounding the South with heavy rainfall and flash floods. But it was in Asheville and across Western North Carolina where the storm brought some of the greatest damage.
