Hurricane Milton

My brother contacted me half an hour ago to let me know he went to shelter at a friends house, along with his daughter and three cats. Since his house is only just over a mile from the water he told me “he might find all the sand from Siesta key at his house when he gets back”. They are inland and safe hopefully all night long. I hope everyone else in the path of this stupid hurricane will be safe too.
It looks like it made landfall in Sarasota.

Well I've been very fortunate. Don't want to speak too soon but nothing too bad to report here. Still have power and all that.

However, a fire alarm just went off in my place, and it's blasting away as I write this. No fire to speak of, so not sure what's up with that. This is an alarm that I can't shut off, so I've just called 911/fire department and hopefully they send someone soon.

It's deeply aggravating, but if this is the worst thing I have to deal with in all this mess, I'll take it.

Good to read you survived, Mike ... Hopefully no damages to your house ... could you hear any strange noises during the height of the storm/hurricane ... have you heard other people screaming or something of that nature?

Hurricane Milton moved off Florida's east coast early this AM, downgraded to a Cat. 1 storm. Milton made landfall around 2030 ET on Wednseday near Siesta Key, Florida, a barrier island next to Sarasota. The storm's destructive winds and torrential rains sparked widespread power outages to over 3 million customers in the state.

I know any hurricane is bad, as well as any tornado. But overall I am so grateful it was a 3 and not a 5. Who's to say that our intent to reduce it was not a factor? ✌️❤️

My sister who was directly in its path stayed at home . she texted me this morning saying all was ok, no major damage. I also heard people down in florida said the news up in my area NYC over sold the danger. who Knows?

seems that the tornados did alot of damage.

on another note, loved joe behind his big boy elementary school desk telling people we cannot modify weather.
But backing our rectifying climate change. hmmm

I had the same thought...glad it was magnitudes less of a strike than could have been.

Excellent - not as bad as some thought. Now we just have to round up those million or so who are wandering around North Florida and Georgia and get them home safely as well.

We've received a blessing in disguise. Not the loss of life or property, certainly, but the clear warning that we now have - one which might wake a few up. Last week or so I spoke of stocking up. I have. So the empty shelves in some places - the result of panic buying before the storm, the fear and utter terror propagated by our Govt in Wash (not the local govt who knows better) crying - RUN! Flee Now!. And the empty hands and empty promises of some form of aid from a FEMA that only cares about nurturing a voting base for the time when Trump leaves office.
Empty gasoline stations, lack of propane gas - runs on grocery stores and water.
Wake the Hell Up.
First they will freeze the money - so take it out in cash, yesterday.
Then they will create artificial shortages, so get your supplies ready.
Then they will release a 9-11 type of incident to further notch up the fear factor.
Then they will call in the UN to "help maintain order during this voting period".
Then they will "postpone" the elections. And shut down the reporting of their crimes.
And then ... and then?
Let's not wait for the then. Let's deal with it now.

I don't want to have to ride a bus up to the states to help the true Americans kick ass. Let's calm it down a notch right now - prepared people are not afraid.

And note, I am not speaking of buying k-rations or survival food. I'm speaking of topping off the tanks in your vehicles, buying extra tanks of propane, shopping a bit heaver than normal, and getting some form of generator or power system ready.

Now that in the last 2 weeks large sections of the SE been knocked to their knees with Hellene and Florida now has been rattled with 2 hurricanes, I wonder what's gonna happen next??????

Seems lately there's barely time enough to catch your breath before another huge event happens.

Like a mentioned in a few other posts, it's time to prepare the best you can for anything to happen.

Seems all the cards are on the table right now.....

Any story told, could be: 01. true, 02. partial true, 03. totally made up, 04. exaggerated, 05. an obvious scam!

Whatever is the case, we seem to "fall in love" with a good (tragedy) story! >>> and I do not blame anyone for doing that, as I am part of that vibe too ... maybe that is one of the reasons why certain things can go mega viral, no matter if it is authentic or not.
