Sharp talk, and artful vid clips content. I watch the whole, and enjoyed it, thank you.

Here is my example of critical comment on this SoCal fires situation, today’s edition. Today, Zeke has a guest, rare but always great.

Vid L is 1:07:05, I am at 41:10 right now, but I wrote down some timestamps thus far.

First nine minutes are about today’s fire activity, then the guest is introduced.

At about fifteen, some solid talk about “context and history”.

So now I’m in the guest’ own story segment, started at about thirty seven minutes in.

judging by your answer, i question whether you really saw the video, it's not about the fact that the trees are still standing, it's more about the fact that they are burning from the inside out.
Yes, I saw it. Trees burning from the inside has come up before several times [I pointed it out in this post in 2017]. Several answers were forthcoming, like, tree-bark is fire resistant while the interior is not, and is filled with highly combustible fungus, and so on [see here, here, here, and here].

we are talking about, among other things, melted/warped ducts meters below the ground, cars standing in open fields with melted engine blocks and rims. there are too many points that make no scientific sense but hey for many people it is also a plausible theory that jet fuel caused the WTC towers to collapse.
In the video he highlights many anomalies, but the images are from after the fire has gone out, not while it's burning. Though an expert in trees, he's perhaps not an expert in fire. He extrapolates the fire's behaviour from the remnants it leaves behind. That's a flawed approach. Short of a forensic analysis, a slide-show of anomalous images, though compelling, cannot be considered conclusive of anything.

However, I do still strongly suspect foul play was involved here, and that a nefarious agenda is behind it. I don't completely rule out exotic accelerants and 'DEWs', but until something more concrete becomes available I'm not going to jump to that conclusion.

A small but possibly important point that I'm not aware has been explicitly suggested, though I dare to say it may be kind of obvious as a possibility.

Many have pointed to the strong likelihood of arson, some citing homeless people as maybe being the cause.

But if hostile, anti-US 'sleeper cells' have been crossing the southern border in large numbers, as there's VERY strong evidence is the case, how easy would it be for those people to swing into action and begin starting wildfires everywhere?

So much easier than a truck bomb or even a mass shooting. And far, far more destructive. Just a gallon of gasoline and a match in the right place.

The test of that hypothesis would be if this now continues to happen, all over the country, again and again and again.

    More from Zero Hedge.
10 Dead, 10,000 Structures Burned in Los Angeles Area Inferno as Fire Damage Could Exceed $150 Billion

Fires raging across the Los Angeles area entered their fourth day, killing at least ten people, forcing the evacuation of 180,000 residents, and destroying more than ten thousand structures. Preliminary estimates place damages and economic losses up to $150 billion.

As of Friday morning, five fires are burning across the LA County area. The largest, the Palisades Fire, has scorched 20,000 acres and is considered "one of the most destructive fires in the history of Los Angeles," according to the LA fire chief on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Eaton Fire has burned 14,000 acres. The newest fires are Kenneth and Hidden Hills, which expanded in the overnight hours.

Summary of the five fires (courtesy of CBS News):
    • The Palisades Fire in Los Angeles has killed two people and grown to cover over 31 square miles, likely destroying thousands of structures, according to fire officials. It was 6% contained as of late Thursday night.
    • The Eaton Fire, in the hills above Altadena in northern Los Angeles County, has killed three people and burned more than 21 square miles. Between 4,000 and 5,000 structures were believed to have been destroyed or damaged. Cal Fire reported zero percent containment as of Thursday night.
    • The Kenneth Fire ignited in the Woodland Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles on Thursday and covered 960 acres with zero percent containment as of Thursday night, according to Cal Fire.
    • The Sunset Fire, which erupted Wednesday in Hollywood Hills, prompted a new round of mandatory evacuations and threatened iconic landmarks. By Thursday, all evacuation orders for the fire were lifted and the blaze had been fully contained, according to officials.
    • The Hurst and Lidia fires scorched at least 771 acres and 394 acres, respectively, Cal Fire said. The Hurst Fire was 37% contained and the Lidia Fire was 75% contained as of Thursday night.
    Fire Map:

About 180,000 LA County residents were under evacuation orders, and nearly 200,000 residents were under evacuation warnings, the county's Office of Emergency Management stated. In the mandatory evacuation areas, 60,120 structures were at high fire risk, while 61,288 structures were at moderate risk in areas affected by evacuation warnings.

Over 10,000 structures, including homes, businesses, and smaller buildings such as RVs and sheds, have been destroyed this week in the out-of-control blazes.

Before-and-after satellite images from Maxar Technologies show the devastating impacts of the fires. Entire neighborhoods were burned to the ground.

The National Weather Service extended a red flag warning until late Friday evening for much of LA and Ventura counties. High winds this week have been one of the main drivers of spreading the flames.

While corporate leftist media blames 'climate change' for the wildfires, there is reason to believe that epic mismanagement by LA Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom contributed to the fire disaster.

    Then there's this.

The latest AccuWeather estimate for the total damage and economic loss in LA County has surged to a staggering $135 billion to $150 billion, a massive increase from Wednesday's estimate of $52 billion to $57 billion

    https://x.com/BillWadell/status/1877500559046951408

Meanwhile, the insurance industry is also bracing for a significant hit, with JP Morgan analysts forecasting insured losses ...
"Expectations of economic losses stemming from the fires have more than doubled since yesterday to closer to $50 billion, and we estimate that insured losses from the event could exceed $20 billion (and even more if the fires are not controlled).
"This would make this event significantly more severe than the 2018 Butte County Camp fires, the highest insured loss wildfires in California's history previously (with insured losses of roughly $10 billion). Insured losses in the Butte Camp fire were close to two-thirds of economic losses (about $15 billion). That event impacted over 150,000 acres and affected over 18,000 houses/buildings.
"While the current wildfires haven't affected as much acreage or as many houses/buildings (thus far), more of the damage is concentrated in the affluent Pacific Palisades area, which has high value residential homes (median home price >$3 million versus <$500k in Butte County). Moreover, the fires have not been contained thus far and continue to spread, implying that estimates of potential economic and insured losses are likely to increase."
Catosphere bond news website Artemis noted, "We are still a long way off any loss estimates based on actual damage information, given the still-unfolding disaster situation in Los Angeles County."

What an epic disaster for Democrats, who can no longer hide behind climate change to deflect from their mismanagement and horrendous policies. The pain endured by folks who lost everything, as comedian Adam Carolla suggests, could turn some of Hollywood's wokest and leftist elites into Republicans - well, at least in local elections.

    And it begins.

Jonathan Vigliotti, CBS News, says firefighters in Los Angeles are still frustrated with the many hydrants that are broken or dry, and the lack of equipment.
"They tell me that they don't have enough back up. California is prone to fires - but dilapidated power lines, dry hydrants, misappropriation of water, lack of initiative for controlled burns are all part of why Los Angeles is in total chaos."
Jillian Michaels "Who will answer for the lives that have been lost, the homes gone forever - and the fact that many don’t even have the proper insurance to rebuild."

Holy cr*p. LAFD reportedly canceled their annual fire hydrant testing a few weeks ago citing “fiscal challenges.”

But they have enough money for an LAFD DEI Bureau and DEI chief.

    Unbelievable.

    @thevivafrei
Just putting together a list of the systematic failures leading to the catastrophic fires in California. Let me know if I missed anything.

    1. Diverting fresh water into the San Joaquin Delta to protect the Delta smelt, a fish that is actually not even native to California, and hasn’t been seen in six years.
    2. Insurance companies canceling fire insurance - Allstate canceling 30,000 policies in the area - due to the heightened risk of fires, and the inability to increase premiums above a certain percentage without state authorization.
    3. Poor forest management, in particular in terms of removal of debris, dry brush, etc. which has exacerbated the otherwise natural phenomenon of wildfires in California.
    4. Antiquated infrastructure resulting in fire hydrants running dry.
    5. Budget cuts by mayor Karen Bass of 17 million (less than the 23 million she wanted).
    6. Budget dedicated to fighting homelessness, instead of firefighting infrastructure.
    7. A fire chief dedicated to “Creating, supporting, and promoting a culture that values diversity, inclusion, and equity” instead of firefighting.
    8. Vaccine mandates pursuant to which over 100 firefighters were fired/put on leave for refusing to get the jab.
    9. Apparent arson either setting/exacerbating the fires.
    10. Donating firefighting equipment to Ukraine.

    Does this about cover it?

But yeah, by all means, blame the “climate crisis” and send a few billion more dollars to Ukraine.

It really may be organized asymmetric warfare. Arson like this is the very easiest kind to deploy. More destructive than even a whole rain of 1000kg bombs.

Yes, it's asymmetric warfare. And arson like this is the very easiest kind to deploy. More destructive than even a whole rain of 1000kg bombs.

Your communist mayor was conveniently out of the country.

Your fire equipment was conveniently sent to Ukraine.

Your fire hydrants were conveniently out of water.

Your home insurance was conveniently canceled before the fires.

But you still don't know what's happening?

Dear @realDonaldTrump and @JDVance: the Biden regime has left our people to die in Appalachia this winter while fully funding the liberals in Los Angeles to rebuild after the fire.

    Notice the difference?

    This cannot stand.

This drone photo of a block of flats in Palisades reminds me very much of Lahaina; no building is left standing, but the trees remain intact. For some reason the heat doesn't seem to transfer directly to organic materials.

Lets see if the cars also show molten engine blocks.
Like in Los Angeles there wasn't enough water to fight the fires in Lahaina. The article reads like an orchestrated debacle.

    newsweek
Quote A letter sent by the West Maui Land Company to an official at the Hawaii Commission on Water Resource Management (CWRM) highlights a delay in releasing water that may have hampered firefighters' efforts to tame a raging blaze in west Maui.

Maui was devastated by a series of fires last week that killed an estimated 110 people, as per the latest estimates, with the western area of Lahaina most affected.

The August 10 letter to CWRM deputy director M. Kaleo Manuel describes the events and communication problems that resulted in a delay in diverting streams to fill reservoirs being made available to firefighters. The CWRM operates within the state of Hawaii's Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR).

The three-page document calls on Manuel to suspend all standard procedures and regulations in case of similar emergencies so that help can be provided immediately in the event of any further blazes.

West Maui Land Co. manages three of West Maui's water providers. As the fire was ravaging the island, the company said that firefighters had used what little water they had in their reservoirs and tanks, so they asked the CWRM to divert water from streams to enable them to "store as much water as possible for fire control."

But instead of approving the request, the commission—according to the letter sent by the company to Manuel—had asked them if the Maui Fire Department (MFD) had requested permission to dip into the reservoirs and told them to inquire with a local farmer first to check how a diversion of the water supply would affect him.

The company said "communications were spotty" and the commission's approval to divert water from the streams came too late, some five hours after their first request.

It really may be organized asymmetric warfare. Arson like this is the very easiest kind to deploy. More destructive than even a whole rain of 1000kg bombs.
    Makes the most sense.

Only magic mystery with that is the timing being so perfect coinciding with the wind being so perfect.

Maybe not so mysterious: if this was a movie, the sleeper cells would have encrypted apps communicating with their HQ in (e.g.) Beijing, waiting for the GO signal based on the highest-tech military-grade satellite weather forecasts.

Mel Gibson's house was reduced to ashes by the LA wildfires while he was appearing on Joe Rogan's show.

Gibson took aim at Governor Gavin Newsom, calling him a failure, and described the destruction as unparalleled.

"It's like someone deliberately set out to destroy every inch of it," he said.

"I've never seen anything so perfectly burnt."

Who remembers, the day after Trump won, a few, at least I know it was more than one, isolated house burnouts in the LA area ?

I don't mean isolated houses, I mean houses just like these but only single house burnouts surrounded by undamaged houses.

If someone can find the footage I'd like to look at it again. I may have it myself, as part of a "And We Know" curated news review ( daily ).

I found it. How far is Ventura from these fires?
