The general tone of it is exactly the reaction of the British Army to industrialization around 1900. More and more of the would-be trainees were unfit for service.

The secondary tone raised is very John Birch, so as to blame "the Communists" or something similar for disaffecting domestic quality in this way.


I would say it is obviously partly true in the physical sense, but I disagree with the ideological response.

So far "nothing shocking" about the exorbitant military use of cash when there is none. Ok.

Would it make sense to not protect your nation, which is the Presidents no 1 agenda , from a pending war because you ran on it?

But Doug, no nation is going to 'declare war' on the US. There are two large oceans in the way.

(Of course, 5th generation hybrid warfare may already be well in progress, with all kinds of sabotage cells sitting quietly in the US ready to be activated. That's a very real possibility. So are the BRICS counter-dollar initiatives, and even highly disguised covert assassinations. (One of those may have happened recently.) But a missile attack, or a 'Red Dawn' style invasion, no.)

My own personal guess is that this is all about a very hot war soon to be launched against Iran.

If that happens, the very great likelihood is that Israel will emerge significantly disempowered and humiliated, and the US significantly embarrassed. That embarrassment could also lead to Trump's downfall in one form or another.

The wild card here is Israel's possible use of nuclear weapons once it's backed into a tight corner. (That may even be Israel's plan.) But if THAT happens, despite devastation throughout in the Middle East, Israel will be destroyed completely and will pretty much cease to exist.

I don't actually think that nukes will be used, and a while back I wrote on several threads that I felt very sure of that. But I have to confess I'm not quite so certain now, and it definitely doesn't seem absolutely, completely, impossible.

Much better to be prepared than not.. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.. I don’t believe this was about new standards.. I believe there were some meetings before or afterwards behind closed doors with generals that could be trusted.. One thing for sure they didn’t want to talk about anything that could be intercepted.. In person was the only way to prevent leaks..

US Navy Ret’d career officer and current miltuber Ward “Mooch” Carrol opines on the Big Powwow.

He notes that in his current role as an educator (my description), he calls “balls and strikes”, from his position of experience. F-14 (plane in Top Gun) back seater, teacher in a military college, and lead guitarist to this day in a ~rock band.

I find value in his comments. Vid length is 1:10:94, and he ~said he chose the most useful bits to look at. Was critical of some of Hegseth’s points, supportive of (seemed to me, didn’t count them) of the majority, and gave what sounded like good reasons.

His reaction to the CIC’s following appearance and talk was almost all critical, meaning negative. And not much of that talk is included.

Me though, about one of the few clips of Donny, where he mugs Jimmy Hendrix saying ~”it’s tough to follow you” as a stage act, I laughed. Because he knows himself, and, he just saw his Minista o’ Waa knock it out of the park.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called a short-notice meeting that happened early this morning, September 30, of all U.S. military generals and admirals – one star and above – along with their senior enlisted leaders at Marine Corps University located aboard Quantico Marine Corps base about 30 miles south of Washington DC.

The meeting was for those in command billets only as opposed to those in staff billets. It’s unclear exactly how many military officers attended, but estimates from some sources go as high as 1,000 personnel. The Pentagon didn’t not publish a public agenda or give any indication what the unprecedented gathering was for, and reports suggested that the high-ranking attendees, which included combatant commanders in charge of the Middle East and western Pacific areas of responsibility, were also unaware of why they’d been summoned on such short notice, basically given four days to clear their calendars and get to Quantico.

You are probably right about Iran. Things are hotting up. Still not sure about the Nuclear scenario though. Let’s hope it doesn’t.

Satan's accomplice along with its many loyal, and or blackmailed subjects don't want to do any jail time for crimes never to be exposed much less even mentioned.

Distractions work wonders, especially manufactured ones such as wars, of which currently there's a whole list to choose from and ignite still further.

Well, a war is a legal state of affairs with a goal in mind. A War on Drugs or a War on Terror is mindless.

It's not a word we should toss around in every headline; it's intellectually dishonest.

Qatar is not part of the United States. What has come out is the Truman Doctrine, "We have to fight them over there, otherwise we will have to fight them here".

Republicans are formed around this imaginary Chinese invasion since the 1850s. They have been making up this delirium the whole time. Nothing new has come out of this meeting. It reeks of McCarthyism.

It's not a viable political platform, it's a panic to overpower things they don't understand.

The United States government shutdown has entered a third day after the Senate failed to reach a deal on a crucial spending bill before observing Yom Kippur.

The Senate floor was open on Thursday, but it did not vote due to the holiday, Judaism’s holiest day of the year, Al Jazeera reported.

The next vote is set for Friday, but the chances of success appear slim.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters a weekend vote is “unlikely,” which means the shutdown will likely continue into next week.

Both Republican and Democratic spending bills have failed to reach the 60 out of 100 vote threshold to pass, as senators continue to vote largely down party lines.

Trump has also threatened to use the shutdown to slash the federal workforce, going against the longstanding practice of furloughing hundreds of thousands of workers.

He said on Truth Social that he had met with Russ Vought, director of the Office of Management and Budget, “to determine which of the many Democrat Agencies, most of which are a political SCAM, he recommends to be cut, and whether or not those cuts will be temporary or permanent”.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also confirmed on Thursday that cuts were “likely going to be in the thousands”.

The White House has already frozen $26bn in programs in Democratic states like California, New York, and Illinois.

I'm not sure anything addresses this. I would say the combination of non-management of domestic resources, together with mega preparation for overseas wars that supposedly "no one wants to fight" ranks the federal entity as a complete failure.

Why anyone thinks it can be "fixed" is beyond me.
