    My Heart

O my heart, I am divinely proud of you.
You do not have the shameful and shameless disease - worry!
Never do you drink the deadly venom-doubt!

Nothing can be simpler than your pure longings.
Nothing can be more spontaneous than your glowing feelings.
Nothing can be more fulfilling than your selfless love.
Nothing has a more immediate access to the Supreme than your inmost cry.

O my heart, your heavenly day within an earthly day is for God-realisation.
Your immortalising minute within a fleeting minute is for God-embodiment.
Your revealing second within a vanishing second is for God-manifestation.

O my heart, the other members of the family are afraid of God. You are never!
Their lightless persistent fear is a lifeless persistent paralysis.
In life's journey others make their own choice.
God makes the choice for you.

They want to save humanity with their ego's darkest night.
You wish to serve humanity with your dedication's brightest day.
Their victory is the victory over humanity. Your victory is the victory over yourself.

O my heart,O heart of mine,
    You are my life-boat.
You sail the uncharted seas of ignorance
And reach the golden shore of the Beyond.

    ~ Sri Chinmoy ~

Love this thread. Not a poem, but Helen Keller inspires so many, in such few words. This sunset picture was taken a few years ago, and I can still feel the moment that transpired during this sunset photo shoot I believe I cried like a baby!

When I ran across this particular quote from Helen Keller, I knew it had to go with the picture.

    thank you rosie, beautiful words

    If
    Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you.
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

    If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat these two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

    love m

    The Road Not Taken
    Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.

    It Couldn't be Done
    Edgar Guest

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But, he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't" but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.

So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, as he did it.

    Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
    At least no one we know has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.

With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
    Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
    There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.

But just buckle right in with a bit of a grin,
    Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That cannot be done, and you'll do it

    The time has come...

    the time has come
    to break all my promises
    tear apart all chains
    and cast away all advice

    disassemble the heavens
    link by link
    and break at once
    all lovers' ties
    with the sword of death

    put cotton inside
    both my ears
    and close them to
    all words of wisdom

    crash the door and
    enter the chamber
    where all sweet
    things are hidden

    how long can i
    beg and bargain
for the things of this world
    while love is waiting

    how long before
    i can rise beyond
    how i am and
    what i am

    Here's one i wrote in Nov 2008:

    Rise and Shine

The mystery of what we call “Ascension”
Is all about the specific dimension
That you find matches your vibration
In this lifetime, all your creation
The ups, the downs, the good and the bad
The light, the dark, the happy and the sad
What are you going to choose today?
    Progression versus stagnation and decay?
To shine as a Godly creator
Or fight as a dark gladiator?
    Random acts of compassionate benevolence
    Or misguided actions of malevolence
    Darkness or light
    To love or to fight
    To expand or contract
    Is it fiction or fact
    That we are all one
    Under the same sun
And through many lives do we roam
Trying to find our way Home
Forget the longitude or the latitude
    For the secret is gratitude
    ‘Tis not a physical place
But a smile, upon your face
    To smile or to frown
    To look upwards or down
    To appreciate the present
    For Now, is heaven-sent
    Only you get to choose
    What have you to lose?

    if there were no biases
    there would be no creation

    resonance creates alliances
    creative thoughts of ideation

the only things we truly own
are the choices we each make

earth is where love is grown
learning to give before we take

souls of gaia are now taking root
the tribe of unity calls us together

    as one we'll bud..flowers we'll shoot
the phoenix is the bird of our feather

the 100th human is about to wake
a compassionate society is on the rise

if we live as one, the earth will not quake
love will always guide us away from the lies

    peace,

    every instant of life's slide
    is another opportunity
    to unite or to divide

you can only have one master...decide
to meet the now with love or fear
the choice is yours...pick a side

do you view others as separate?
or do you feel the connection?

do you judge the rippling surface?
or do you stay anchored to the deep?

do you get caught in dualities web?
or do you realize that you are all?

    all polarities...all opposites
    that which contains both

    infinite freedom
    eternal love

    the space of i am
    we forever share

    peace,
    mikey

    your the one
    who makes the choice
    cause your the one
    that has a voice

    your the one
    who makes it real
    cause your the one
    with feelings to feel

    your the one
    with freedom of will
    cause your the one
    that desired a thrill

    your the one
    who's playing the game
    cause your the one
from which all that is came

    your the one
    that imagined it all
    cause your the one
    that believed in a fall

    your the one
    creating out of love
    cause your the one
    exploring below and above

    your the one
    the great architect of space
    cause your the one
    who designed every race

    your the one
    that both seeks and hides
    cause your the one
    in which the mystery confides

Lao-tzu from the Tao Te Ching

    The Master keeps her mind
    always at one with the Tao;
that is what gives her, her radiance.

    The Tao is ungraspable.
How can her mind be at one with it?
Because she doesn't cling to ideas.

The Tao is dark and unfathomable.
How can it make her radiant?
    Because she lets it.

Since before time and space were,
    the Tao is.
It is beyond is and is not.
How do I know this is true?
I look inside myself and see.
Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the masters instead seek what they sought.

    listen to that which listens
    before any thought...silence glistens

    observe that which observes
the one presence each of us serves

    feel that which does feel
in the heart one finds the real

    listening...observing...feeling
to know one's true nature is healing

you are the calm before any storm
awareness exists with or without form

you are the ocean and the wave
    consciousness continues after the grave

you are the sun and the rays of light
here on earth to shine in the darkest night

you are the human and the being
serving others with a will that is freeing

    peace,

thank you fellow avalonians, i love to read poems posted by you

i wandered lonly as a cloud

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
    A host, of golden daffodils,
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
    They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:--
A Poet could not but be gay
    In such a jocund company!
    I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
    What wealth the show to me had brought;

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
    Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills
    And dances with the daffodils.

    if reality is a thought...
    then every thought shapes reality

    if thoughts become things...
then every thing is a thought

    if a thought can think...
    then every thinker is infinite

    if all time is simultaneous
then there is no should or could

if any one is to create
    then creation must occur now

if you dream or if you wait
then you'll continue to ask, how?

    if you are a creator
    then focus your mind

    if your mind is still
    then what do you find?
