    life is a story that never stops from being told
    the passing on of wisdom to the young from the old

    for knowledge you see is what life is all about
    know thyself as that which has no within nor without

    beneath all the stories lies an awareness so blank
    a fullness of self with no reason to curse nor to thank

    deeper than these characters we are now playing
    consciousness listens to every word we are saying

    we are all story tellers each adding our own chapter
    some stories full of yelling and others full of laughter

    what kind of story are you writing with each choice?
    do you realize the power of the words that you voice?

    sit around the warm fire and tell your own vision
    imagine the butterfly effect of your every decision

    each moment you are asked to take the low or high road...
    will you choose to slay the dragon? will you even kiss a toad?

    peace,
    mikey

    The states of awareness we currently perceive are only a thiny fraction of the whole.
    The continuum extends deep into nonphysical areas of the universe far beyond our current physical comprehension ~ William Buhlman

    Quiet thunder of the heart
    electrifying bliss of soul connection
    portals to heaven open through love
    time lost in soul surrender

    Gentle breeze between stars
    propelling travelers on their way
    to distant worlds
    where Lovers call

    Service to the One Creator
    encoded in foundations beyond the atom
    unfolds grace eternal
    in our open hearts
    In this universe of essence, mystery and love, I, Transforming Heart, am another you.

    My heart beats
    the Creator’s symphony
    of harmony, beauty
    & transformation.

    A Sovereign Entity
    of the Central Universe!
    I resonate quantum fields
    of unity & wholeness.

    I express visions
    of humankind’s future
    in worlds that float
    in time & space.

    In this Universe
    of essence, mystery & love,
    I, Transforming Heart,
    am another You.

    Eternal Being,
    you are a happy wanderer
    of the bright realms
    of the Central Sun
    and Traveler of
    the Inner Skies.

    You are not so much a citizen of
    planetary race, culture, or nation.
    Your true lineage is from the stars.
    You are Sovereign Entity
    of the Central Universe!

    Countless the explorations
    you have wrapped your Self in
    the fabric of forms that grow native
    to a planet’s ecology.

    With this understanding,
    be a blessing to all children
    of the Tribes of Light
    for they, like you,
    are offspring
    of the heavens.
    In this universe of essence, mystery and love, I, Transforming Heart, am another you.

    i am a puppet
    music is my master

    whatever is...love it
    no matter the disaster

    who is pulling the strings?
    the truth...i am forever after

    whatever the future brings
    i know to meet with laughter

    for last night i found my grave
    a memory that i sure plan to save

    deja vu... i've been here before
    deep rhythms send me to the floor

    imprinted perfectly into the earth
    like a butterfly going through re-birth

    i could have left but i chose to stay
    with one purpose: to dance and sway

    reminders from home...a blinking star
    love and light can heal the deepest scar

    "look at me dance," ego proudly does boast
    no attention to the grass upon which i coast

    little did i know that each blade is dancing too
    it is a symbiotic effort where we work like glue

    ley lines i follow as i let my pendulum arms guide
    bouncing off the crowd's aura like a tilt-a-whirl ride

    a hanged man surrendered to the point of power
    so many blessings does each moment now shower

    peace,
    mikey

    step away from the crowd
    so predictable and loud

    take off the ego mask
    in the light of truth...bask

    how long can you be alone?
    as you welcome the unknown

    let the iceberg of self melt
    until silence is fully felt

    there is no other way
    in the moment...stay

    simply be available to now
    tap into the existential wow

    when all desires cease
    what is left is called peace

    an inner freedom so vast
    the mind with no overcast

    peace,
    mikey

    one can be a drain
    or one can be a fountain

    one can bring others down in pain
    or one can turn cheeks up like a mountain

    one can live a life without any moral behavior
    one can bypass the heart without a single care

    or one can follow christ...forgiveness the savior
    where one bleeds compassion with a gentle stare

    one can keep on using and abusing
    one can lie...one can steal...one can hate

    or one can unite and start fusing
    one can cry...one can heal...one can wait

    one can be impatient...one can put up a fuss
    or one can be calm...never a worry nor a rush

    beyond all of this there is a peace so still
    when one is responsible with every act of will

    peace,
    mikey

    Love's Philosophy
    Shelley

    The fountains mingle with the river,
    And the rivers with the ocean;
    The winds of heaven mix forever
    With a sweet emotion;
    Nothing in the world is single;
    All things by a law divine
    In another's being mingle--
    Why not I with thine?

    See, the mountains kiss high heaven,
    And the waves clasp one another;
    No sister flower could be forgiven
    If it disdained its brother;
    And the sunlight clasps the earth,
    And the moonbeams kiss the sea;--
    What are all these kissings worth,
    If thou kiss not me?

    Mutability
    by Shelley

    We are the clouds that veil the midnight moon;
    How restlessly they speed, and gleam, and quiver,
    Streaking the darkness radiantly!
    yet soon
    Night closes round, and they are lost forever:
    Or like forgotten lyres, whose dissonant strings
    Give various response to each varying blast,
    To whose frail frame no second motion brings
    One mood or modulation like the last.
    We rest.
    A dream has power to poison sleep;
    We rise.--One wandering thought pollutes the day;
    We feel, conceive or reason, laugh or weep;
    Embrace fond foe, or cast our cares away:
    It is the same!--For, be it joy or sorrow,
    The path of its departure still is free:
    Man's yesterday may ne'er be like his morrow;
    Nought may endure but Mutability.

    the heart chakra

    here's a technique to keep your center
    only do what you enjoy and joy will enter

    this may sound silly yet i implore you to try
    for one full day act only to make your soul fly

    i repeat...only do that which you really love to do
    don't try to please others...be authentic and true

    if you don't like doing something then simply stop it
    you have every right to just lay it aside and drop it

    nothing is more important than following your bliss
    what brings you delightful feelings like a first kiss?

    be like the birds that continue to chirp all day long
    turn deep within until you can hear your heart song

    knowing yourself means to know what you like
    and don't be afraid to tell another to take a hike

    the heart chakra must be kept open if joy is what you seek
    you'll know when you've found it when your eyes begin to leak

    messenger of light

    which world do you choose to dwell?
    a dream of heaven or a dream of hell?

    what is the message that you radiate out?
    is it a message of hope or a message of doubt?

    every second of every single day
    we are each a message on display

    aware of my power...perfection is what i see
    discarding all of the lies i've found the real me

    no victim...no judge...only inner peace remains
    all of life embraced both the joys and the pains

    full of respect and responsibility
    i trust in the universe and eternity

    a message of love from a messenger of light
    from the truth of "i am" my heart takes flight

    i am an earth angel and words are my wings
    when i open up my mouth harmony sings

    peace...mikey

    Solitude
    by Lord George Gordon Byron

    To sit on rocks, to muse o'er flood and fell,
    To slowly trace the forest's shady scene,
    Where things that own not man's dominion dwell,
    And mortal foot hath ne'er or rarely been;
    To climb the trackless mountain all unseen,
    With the wild flock that never needs a fold;
    Alone o'er steeps and foaming falls to lean;
    This is not solitude, 'tis but to hold
    Converse with Nature's charms, and view her stores unrolled.

    But midst the crowd, the hurry, the shock of men,
    To hear, to see, to feel and to possess,
    And roam alone, the world's tired denizen,
    With none who bless us, none whom we can bless;
    Minions of splendour shrinking from distress!
    None that, with kindred consciousness endued,
    If we were not, would seem to smile the less
    Of all the flattered, followed, sought and sued;
    This is to be alone; this, this is solitude!

    Quote Posted by morguana (here)
    i grew up with these words hanging in my folks kitchen, i now have a copy in my kitchen, the desiderata is a beautiful and inspiring poem, on that i would like to share with my fellow avalonians :D, so come and sit in silence under a tree with me and enjoy these word of light and peace

    Desiderata

    Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
    and remember what peace there may be in silence.
    As far as possible without surrender
    be on good terms with all persons.
    Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
    and listen to others,
    even the dull and the ignorant;
    they too have their story.

    Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
    they are vexations to the spirit.
    If you compare yourself with others,
    you may become vain and bitter;
    for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
    Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

    Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
    it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
    Exercise caution in your business affairs;
    for the world is full of trickery.
    But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
    many persons strive for high ideals;
    and everywhere life is full of heroism.

    Be yourself.
    Especially, do not feign affection.
    Neither be cynical about love;
    for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
    it is as perennial as the grass.

    Take kindly the counsel of the years,
    gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
    Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
    But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
    Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
    Beyond a wholesome discipline,
    be gentle with yourself.

    You are a child of the universe,
    no less than the trees and the stars;
    you have a right to be here.
    And whether or not it is clear to you,
    no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

    Therefore be at peace with God,
    whatever you conceive Him to be,
    and whatever your labors and aspirations,
    in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

    With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
    it is still a beautiful world.
    Be cheerful.
    Strive to be happy.

    (Max Ehrmann)

    Excellent poem!!! (great thread, Morguana!)
    I wrote the following circa 1990 (while at University of Guelph and in rough psychological waters) that resonates well with Desiderata, I think ... can't help but feel some cosmic kinship with Ehrmann.

    (circa1990 - modified a bit)

    Mountains
    =======

    Nanda Devi
    Krakatoa
    Vesuvius
    Mount Everest
    The Matterhorn
    Fujiyama in the rising Sun
    Mount St. Helens
    The snows of Kilamanjaro
    Mont Blanc

    Some mountains blow smoke,
    churn rock and spit fire,
    and spill forth Hell's venom.

    Others are quiet,
    unassuming;
    among these stands the one
    that reaches farthest
    in the quest for Heaven.

    Cheers

    brothers and sisters of sorrow
    let's create a brighter tomorrow

    with faith and a strong will power
    let's cleanse like a heavenly shower

    with our intents and with our deeds
    keep on planting those heartfelt seeds

    the garden of earth is ready to bloom
    be a source of light in the midst of gloom

    easing the suffering and easing the pain
    expressing love is what keeps us sane

    far far from home did we all wander
    the reason why is something to ponder

    for we are all here by choice no doubt
    the cry from gaia that made us all pout

    and so we came full of passion and care
    knowing deep down we had love to share

    peace,

    THE SKY IT IS BLUE

    THE FIELDS THEY ARE GREEN

    THE WEATHER IS WARM

    THE SEAS THEY ARE CLEAN

    PEOPLE SMILE

    THEY HAVE NO CARE

    THEY KNOW THAT GOD

    THE PEOPLE DO KNOW

    THAT WE ARE ALL ONE

    POWERED BY THE SOURCE

    LOVED BY THE SUN

    The Wheel of Life

    As on the wheel of life we walk
    Some to move, others to talk
    The choices made before our birth
    Reflect in sadness or in mirth
    For onward then this wheel does go
    Through sun and heat, and ice and snow
    Some souls to linger for a while
    Yet others leave with frown not smile
    For some the journey danger fraught
    Yet for others it means little or nought
    To tread the path of the human race
    Does it bring a smile to your face
    Or do you then regret anew
    The decisions that were made by you
    And what of those you leave behind
    Some angry or sad, others sweet and kind
    And when the stress of life became
    More of a burden, less of a game
    Did you then a new decision make
    Another breath then not to take
    Or was your choice a deeper plan
    To walk anew the wheel of man
    Perhaps one day we then will meet
    And with smiles and eyes each other greet
    And answers then there well may be
    For the questions asked by me
    Until that time I wish you well
    As tales of your journey you do tell

    Grief and Loss

    Why do they call it grief and loss?
    Is there a difference in grieving and a loss
    Or in a loss and a sense of grieving?

    For what is grief, a sadness, yet with a depth that few may understand
    For the levels of grief are many fold, and of much variance of depth
    Depending then on the impact and the resonance of such grief on the soul and on the spirit

    Yet loss is none the lesser for all of it being a different word
    The levels of loss can be many fold as in that of a grief
    Does then the word set it part as having a difference

    Does indeed the sense of loss bring its own sadness or despair
    Is it an unexplained or an unrecognised grief
    Or some thing more as yet unidentified or unexplained?

    And in grieving a loss, does one then give to the grief that which should surely belong to that of the loss
    Is then the loss at a disadvantage in being subjugated by the grief
    Or even discarded or cast aside as it where?

    Wherein lie the answers to these questions true
    Are they inside me, or within you
    Or are there answers yet at all
    To questions thrown across a wall
    One grieves a friend or companion true
    They were part of what then makes you, You
    And yet in going for a while
    When they return you then may smile
    But what of those who leave in pain
    Was all their suffering then in vain
    Or did you learn a lesson true
    That they then brought to share with you
    I seek and search for answers clear
    To explain the loss of those most dear
    And yet in grief while I remain
    Do I then accentuate their pain
    Or do I in loss then set them free
    To once again return to thee
    Answers many there may be
    Yet in my loss I cannot see
    And so I grieve for what was not to be.

    Sheila

    On brittle caps of bone he kneels,
    a faded image of chivalry,
    gone to horsemeat his loyal steed
    and sword sprinkling rust.
    No maiden cry,
    no dragon shield,
    just him alone in 2001;
    a poet in a wasted land
    with hemlocked trees and acid seas
    and everywhere: rain without hiatus.
    The endless nights of agony
    pour into cups of Tetley Tea
    as This Man slowly rises, finds rays
    and reprises;
    with blue blood dripping from his brain
    in search of silver poet pen
    and clutching head he moans in pain,
    but hark, a lady speaks!!
    Wait, be those soft wails of misery??
    Yes ... yes ... indeed, indeed!!
    A damsel on the hook, she is!
    Sweet angel hang but a second more,
    to bits I'll chop your binding chord
    with my slicing arm, this battle sword
    that has seen the heads of a hundred-score
    dragons roll;
    will bring relief to the realm of men, and restore
    to Camelot its shining gem!

    No, nooooooooo! ... not the radio!
    Acccccccccckkkkk!!
    Kiss me not wails or gender pleas!
    But a feminist bender in war fatigues!
    Doth rail against the penis beast!
    My poor ears ... she's chewed them clear!
    Oh dear, oh dear, oh darn, oh dear!
    Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeexxx!!

    Another day in 2001,
    the battle rages between Cloud and Sun;
    who'll win the sky the poet wonders?
    Thunder sings the Sun's surrender.
    So beneath the sheets This Man retreats
    to float again the sinking ship
    of dreams, of hopes, of sanity;
    and soon before him the fabled land
    of gallant knights and white stallions;
    and as he, in polished silver, stands,
    the maiden yields.
    Sweet dreams, Man 2001.

    Cheers
    Uncle Zook

    I AM MORE THAN ONE

    by

    Jonathan Vos Post

    (as if Walt Whitman reviewed the novel "Less Than Zero")

    Less Than Zero? NO! I am More Than One.

    I am more than one, half my father and half my mother, and more
    I am one-fourth each of all four grandparents, and more
    Each brother and each sister is half of me, and I am half of them,
    and all the people of the world are my brothers and my sisters, and more
    and there is more than one world; I choose this world, and more

    I am part of every group, and more than all those groups I choose to join
    I am a representative of every trait I manifest, and more
    I take part in every belief I choose to hold, but I am more than my beliefs
    I am, in part, each thought and memory and feeling, but more than all parts

    I am more than one, I am my past, and my environment, and my free will,
    half nature, half nurture, more halfs, adding to more than one

    I am more than one, I am conscious and unconscious and more
    I am perceiver and percipient, sentience and conscience and more

    I am the record of my own history, the fount of history to come, and more
    I am the choice, the chooser, and the chosen; I choose this life, and more
    I am more than one; I am past, present, future; otherwhen and otherwhere

    Less than zero? No, I do not admit to less than Infinity
    I am more than one, and there is more than one infinity
    I choose this infinity, and more than this infinity

    I am more than one...
    and SO ARE YOU!
