It is about time the UN has made this type of statement against Isreal, this needs to be lifted, there are people dieing there whilst we sit back and do nothing.
    Dear friend,

The UN is a useless, organization. Driven by TPTB to voice their political agenda.
While most of the African population is hungry, and thousands of people die daily from famine and infectious diseases. The UN is occupied about that hot spot. That is marginal in the scope to the world civil rights problems.

The UN is very occupied with the issues that are under the political agenda. With some capital to gain.
There is no discussion in the UN about human rights violation in the US, Iraq, Turkey, Russia, China, N.Korea and others.
The spot light is on Israel and the Arabs. Which are not hungry and not dying daily from infectious diseases (see the current official Palestinian agenda in here: http://www.maannews.net/eng/).

If you want to learn something about human rights then study Amnesty International reports about the Israeli Arabs hot spot (Page 254 - http://thereport.amnesty.org/sites/d...N.pdf#page=254)
You can learn that these days Palestinians are oppressed mostly by Palestinians, despite the 2006 war in Gazza and the siege.
Amnesty International is not friendly to Israel by no means.

If you really care about civil rights, the UN is not the place.

I understand your poibt! However, this says otherwise.

In November 1947, the United Nations voted in favor of the partition of Palestine, proposing the creation of a Jewish state, an Arab state, and a UN-administered Jerusalem.[16] Partition was accepted by Zionist leaders but rejected by Arab leaders, leading to civil war. Israel declared independence on 14 May 1948 and neighboring Arab states attacked the next day. Since then, Israel has fought a series of wars with neighboring Arab states,[17] and in consequence occupied territories, including the West Bank, Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights, beyond those delineated in the 1949 Armistice Agreements. Israel has signed peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan, but efforts by elements within both parties to diplomatically solve the problem have so far only met with limited success and some of Israel's international borders remain in dispute.

    Greetings irishspirit,

The UN votes are just reflections of political moves.
The UN was never able to stop nor prevent a war. With one exception in East Timor, where the Australian aremy disguised as the UN stopped genocide.
The UN was never able to assist in establishing nor found any state.

The UN is used for public debate and political confrontation arena.

The local people, are those who make the difference. Therefore Palestine/Israel was in civil war in 1948. The British empire wanted out gracefully. The 7 regional Arab states wanted to conquer as much as they could (nothing to do with the local population). Even Iraq took part in the 1949 invasion.
    And the Israeli problem started.

I suppose we could argue that we all signed up for these experiences, and to learn from lessons...

Something keeps nagging me... I don't think this is how it is supposed to be!

From where I'm standing I am greatful (4 kids) ... from the other side something else kicks in...and I QUESTION!

By design it might be...if that is the case then whoever designed this has taken away the freewill of the oppressed...does that make it right???

Wow, these expressions are beautiful in a haunting way. Thank god the children have acsess to coloring crayons. Its a great therapy in many ways, especially when you see the vibrant colors they use. To me, the colors express humanity and hope through the very violent images drawn.
These have their place in a museum if you ask me, they convey as much emotion or even more than any Rembrant or expressionist painting.
They are the pure expression of emotion put on paper using colors and motifs.

Not so sure what we see in the video is an attack. The media is very much manipulated in this region.
Checking on the Palestinian press (Maan and Al Jazzeara) this incident is not mentions.
It could be recycled old new. Or outright propaganda.

While checking the Israel press I found there was a retaliation bombing yesterday night.
Quote The IAF targeted three terror activity sites in the Gaza Strip. Over forty mortar shells, Qassam rockets and Grad rockets have been fired into Israel since 2011 http://dover.idf.il/IDF/English/News...11/02/0902.htm
Quote Eight people were lightly injured in an Israel Air Force strike in the northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian medical sources reported Tuesday night.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that the planes bombed two targets in the Strip and a tunnel in northern Gaza, in response to the firing of mortar shells at Israel on Tuesday. (Elior Levy and new agencies) http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7...025911,00.html

Ihab Keheal, head of the justice department’s medical examiner’s office in the Gaza Strip, has stated that examinations conducted by his office have unveiled evidence indicating that the Israeli army used white phosphorous and other internationally prohibited weapons in its latest operation in Gaza.

Making his comments in a press statement released Monday, Keheal said that the bodies of Palestinians killed in the latest escalations were torn apart and charred to the extent that they were barely recognizable.

It certainly looks like current warfare is designed not just to kill your enemy, but to kill in the most horrific way.

This supports the idea of trans-dimensional, vampiric beings who feed off terror, suffering, blood sacrifice and death.

Endless war, endless blood sacrifice. This has to stop.

The UN Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict found that Israel committed violations of human rights and international law, war crimes and possible crimes against humanity before, during, and after "Operation Cast Lead," Israel's Dec. 2008 to Jan. 2009 onslaught against the Gaza Strip, which killed more than 1,400 Palestinians.

Even before the fact-finding mission was established, and ever since, the Obama Administration and Congress have worked hard to discredit the UN mission and prevent the international community from acting upon its findings.

Now, the House of Representatives is upping the ante by considering a resolution to withhold payment of U.S. dues to the UN until it retracts the final report of the fact-finding mission.

Make no mistake about it: this is part of a deliberate, concerted strategy by the U.S. to throw around its diplomatic weight, shielding Israel from accountability for any outrage it inflicts on Palestinians, no matter how grave.

"NOAM CHOMSKY: Mr. Mandell will confirm, there was an explicit condition for this debate. That is, that neither participant try to evade the issue by deceitful allegations about the other. So, I, therefore, congratulate Mr. Dershowitz on having made a true statement. I was a counselor at Massad. About the rest, there happens to be an ample record in print, or if you like, you can ask a question, but I'll keep to the topic and the rules.

The topic is: Where do we go from here? The answer to that is largely up to us. Evidently, it requires some understanding of how we got here. The question of where we're going now has a clear answer. It's given accurately by the leading academic specialist on the occupation, Harvard's Sara Roy, as she writes that under the terms of disengagement, Gazans are virtually sealed within the Strip, while West Bankers, their lands dismembered by relentless Israeli settlement, will continue to be penned into fragmented geographic spaces, isolated behind and between walls and barriers.

Her judgment is affirmed by Israel's leading specialist on the West Bank, Meron Benvenisti, who writes that 'the separation walls snaking through the West Bank will create three Bantustans (his words): north, central and south, all virtually separated from East Jerusalem, the center of Palestinian commercial, cultural and political life. And he adds that this, what he calls the soft transfer from Jerusalem, that is an unavoidable result of the separation wall, might achieve its goal. Quoting still, 'the goal of disintegration of the Palestinian community, after many earlier attempts, have failed.' 'The human disaster being planned,' he continues, 'will turn hundreds of thousands of people into a sullen community, hostile, and nurturing a desire for revenge.' So, another example of the sacrifice of security through expansion that's been going on for a long time."

    Long but a good read.

In all ages, in all lands, there have been those who seek truth. This seeking is an individual's search for something more than self, and much more than the confines of this worldly system. It is the seeker, who understands there is more than what meets the eye, who is not afraid and makes the choice to go into the unknown. The process of awaking has begun, the discovery is underway.

Did everyone forget that these clashes between the IDF and Hamas were preceded by the firing of an anti-tank grenade at an Israeli schoolbus???

Yes i agree with that but it does not seem likely now that Fatah reconciled with Hamas (which is unlikely to cancel their goal of the destruction of Israel) en is going for a unity goverment.
And then we have the egyptians wanting to cancel the peace treaty with Israel.
