Momentarily, from what I hear. I hope not, though.

I very much doubt that, although alot of human suffering, pain anguish, death and despair for the people at the ''butt end'' of such an invasion if it goes ahead.

My thoughts are with the people caught in the middle.

    Peace

As sick as it would be (or even sicker than what is happening now), I don't see this as the trigger for WW3 either....just another stepping stone towards it, shaping the field of players a little bit more so to speak.

    It is escalating though....

Quote Three U.S. Navy amphibious warships are returning to the eastern Mediterranean to remain on standby in the event they are needed to assist Americans leaving Israel in the coming days, according to two U.S. officials.

Hamas attack continuously the state of Israel to the cities of the south, in the largest international media silence. It shoulds not be forgotten that Hamas and the State of Israel are two different entities, in one case a terrorist group, who does not hesitate to attack indiscriminately at civilians (mainly religion), and the other a sovereign State, who does not hesitate to attack indiscriminately at civilians (mainly religion). Israel still has work to do in terms of communication. Let 's hope this does not lead us to "World War "and financial melt-down...

I actually think this is a smoke screen for something much larger.....I'm keepin an eye on Turkey and Syria (and NATO) right now more so than this.

    This is an interesting development...

Quote NATO member states have agreed to supply Turkey with an advanced Patriot missile system to defend against Syrian attacks and talks on its deployment are in the final stage, Turkey's foreign minister said on Tuesday.

Without trying to understand what lies behind this smokescreen if there ... From my side, I can not stand these pictures of dead Palestinian children and scenes of panic current Israeli right and left in the sound of sirens, it breaks my heart. Israelis make me think the Argentines at the edge of the Falklands War, hide the failure of a political authoritarian and corrupted by an unnecessary war against an enemy supposedly hereditary. Palestinians are completely martyred by a political class and radicalized by an occupant without mercy. They are totally lost, injured and they have nothing to lose. Think they will make is magical thinking, resist and revenge, that's all they have left. As for the Israelis, they would stop the rockets, but they are unable to calm the game more than two years at a time. Although the shelter behind their walls, they dare not enter Lebanon and Gaza knowing that hundreds of young fanatics will make a point to jump with their children just to find meaning in their lives miserable and hopeless.

While it may be risky to eat washed up fish, for those Palestinians it has to be preferable to the risk of being shot by Israel in the pursuit of netting fresh fish. Plus when the child population has suffered abnormal rates of stunted growth due to the apartheid embargo on Gaza, who could blame people for taking up this free harvest?

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...ed-youths.html
Quote Gaza police shaving heads of long-haired youths
Police in Hamas-ruled Gaza have started grabbing young men with long or gel-styled spiky hair off the streets, bundling them into jeeps, mocking them and shaving their heads.
It is the latest sign that the Islamic militants are imposing their strict practices on the population.

Hamas has been slowly forcing its fundamentalist interpretation of the religion on already conservative Gaza since it overran the territory in 2007, but the new crackdown on long hair and tight or low-waist pants - in several cases accompanied by beatings - appears to be one of the most aggressive phases of the campaign so far.

The crackdown began last week, and two of the victims told The Associated Press they were rounded up in separate sweeps in Gaza City that included more than two dozen young men.

House painter Ayman al-Sayed, 19, had shoulder-length hair before police grabbed him and shaved his head on Thursday.

"The only thing I want to do is leave this country," said Mr al-Sayed, who despite his ordeal defiantly wore stylish but outlawed narrow-leg tan khakis. "I am scared. They just take you from the street without reason. I don't know what they are going to do next."

Hamas officials played down the campaign - a stance adopted in the past that allows the group to distance itself from a controversial crackdown while at the same time instilling fear in those it targeted.

Ziad al-Zaza, the deputy prime minister of Gaza, said the head-shaving "was a very limited, isolated behavior of the police and is not going to continue."

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights called on Hamas to investigate the "arbitrary detentions and violations of civil rights of civilians."

The hair crackdown came just days after the Hamas-run parliament in Gaza passed an education bill mandating separate classrooms for boys and girls from the age of nine.

Gender separation is already widely practiced in Gaza schools, as it is in the West Bank, where Hamas rival Mahmoud Abbas, the Western-backed Palestinian president, administers some areas.

Enshrining such separation in law marked another step forward in Hamas' campaign of imposing Islamic practice.

    I just ran across this:

Quote 'Priceless' bronze statue of Greek god Apollo found in Gaza Strip
    • Hamas officials seize statue after it appears on eBay
    • Doubt cast on fisherman's claim to have found item in sea

    Reuters in Gaza
    theguardian.com, Monday 10 February 2014 14.42 GMT

Lost for centuries, a rare bronze statue of the Greek god Apollo has mysteriously resurfaced in the Gaza Strip, only to be seized by police and vanish almost immediately from view.

Word of the remarkable find has caught the imagination of the world of archaeology, but the police cannot say when the life-sized bronze might re-emerge or where it might be put on display.

A local fisherman says he scooped the 500kg (1,100lb) god from the seabed last August, and carried it home on a donkey cart, unaware of the significance of his catch.

Others soon guessed at its importance, and the statue briefly appeared on eBay with a $500,000 (£300,000) price tag - well below its true value. Police from the Islamist group Hamas, which rules the isolated Palestinian territory, swiftly seized it and say they are investigating the affair.

Archaeologists have not been able to get their hands on the Apollo – to their great frustration- and instead must pore over a few blurred photographs of the intact deity, who is laid out incongruously on a blanket emblazoned with Smurfs.

From what they can tell, it was cast sometime between the 5th and the 1st century BC, making it at least 2,000 years old.

"It's unique. In some ways I would say it is priceless. It's like people asking what is the [value] of the painting La Gioconda [the Mona Lisa] in the Louvre museum," said Jean-Michel de Tarragon, a historian with the French Biblical and Archaeological School of Jerusalem.

"It's very, very rare to find a statue which is not in marble or in stone, but in metal," he told Reuters television.

The apparently pristine condition of the god suggested it was uncovered on land and not in the sea, he said, speculating that the true location of where it was unearthed was not revealed to avoid arguments over ownership.

"This wasn't found on the seashore or in the sea … it is very clean. No, it was [found] inland and dry," he said, adding that there were no signs of metal disfigurement or barnacles that one normally sees on items plucked from water.

Palestinian fisherman Joudat Ghrab tells a different tale. The 26-year-old father of two said he saw a human-like shape lying in shallow waters some 100 metres offshore, just north of the Egyptian-Gaza border.

At first he thought it was a badly burnt body, but when he dived down to take a closer look he realised it was a statue. He says it took him and his relatives four hours to drag the treasure ashore.

"I felt it was something gifted to me by God," Ghrab told Reuters. "My financial situation is very difficult and I am waiting for my reward."
