I didn't want to make a thread for this, thought I'd just bring it up here:

A bunch of us Avalonians appreciate fasting. Some of you folks also don't drink anything during short fasts. I shy away from this but I'd like more information on the topic. Do any of you folks have links that I can read? I'll do my 'due googling' but I trust you people more.

I think we all know the potential dangers, but I'm interested in the benefits. When I played football the coaches wouldn't allow us to drink water except for particular times. I suppose the logic was to harden us so to speak (this was common practice in FL but is now illegal). When 'asking around' people generally say that water restriction is bs and no value. But I call bs on them calling bs.

All here, with some very good info on dry fasting as well. (But be extremely careful with that: dry fasting needs to be done very exactly and precisely.)

Food shortages - particularly fresh vegetables - are being reported on TV channels today. Asda are limiting customers to 3 choices from 8 vegetables I heard. So far it's being blamed on logistics and weather in Africa but I'm sure the list will grow.

Something kinda interesting I've been mulling over is how I find immigrants to be more traditionally 'American' than the younger generation who was born here.

Much of the youth doesn't want to work as well as bitch and moans about how hard they have it here. Immigrants are working hard as hell and don't complain.

This is totally anecdotal on my part, so I can't prove anything. Friend of mine said I'm wrong, and the stats show otherwise. He may be right, but it doesn't discount my observation and since I have lots of immigrants in my area it's a bit hard for me to change my opinion on this.

They might work hard, like the rest of us do, but they secretly know that this place, this western world, is more corrupt than where they have come from. It is ridiculously expensive just to survive, let alone get ahead. They know this. The difference is only a matter of semantics. And many, now disillusioned of the west, wish they had never come here.

Many immigrants tend to large groups, helping each other become established. They often live together with far more occupants per unit than we would ever consider doing. They save their money and pool it together, making good on mortgages, loans and rents for the participants.

If you are comparing these immigrants to the entitled class of youngsters in our ivory towered bastions of higher education where radical ideology and catastrophic climate disasters capture the minds of our youth, then yes, they work hard compared to these perhaps.
But those receiving the highest benefits our society has to offer should learn some gratitude to the rest of us, without whom their status would immediately be plunged into the real chaos they think they wish upon society.

You are comparing spoiled brats to hard working members of society. That's like comparing apples to oranges.

I am comparing them to everyday kids who are too good for to work for McDonalds. Everyday suburban kids. I see this more and more these days. Spend some time lurking reddit, you'll see just how lazy and entitled the youth can be.

Of course, not all kids are like this.
