    Hi araucaria,
that's very funny! I have never seen anything quite like that before in regards to classical music. Wonderful - thanks for the laugh!

My favourite is Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A Major Op 92. Allegretto - I first heard it in the film 'Knowing' and have loved it ever since!

Claude Debussy's music sounds other-worldly to me.
Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun

    Reverie

Arabesque No. 1--when we lived in Germany, there was no TV for us, so I listened to the radio. My favorite was an afternoon classical program that opened with this piece.

I will add the La Mer movements another day if no one else does.
    And here they are.

First movement of Claude Debussy's "La Mer" ("The Sea"): "De l'aube ŕ midi sur la mer" ("From Dawn to Midday on the Sea").

Second movement of Claude Debussy's "La Mer" ("The Sea"): "Jeux de vagues" ("Play of the Waves").

Third movement of Debussy's "La Mer" ("The Sea"): "Dialogue du vent et de la mer" ("Dialogue between Wind and Waves").

Corson - I loved that movie Reversal of Fortune. Jeremy Irons was deliciously handsome even tho evil. Sad ending, beautiful music.

Beethoven, The 7th, second movement, my favorite, too. (After Schubert's Unfinished).
    Here is Karajan's interpretation.

Dvorak Symphony No. 9 'From the New World' First Movement
Czech composer Antonín Dvorák visited America and composed this masterpiece in 1893.

There are more movements if anyone wants more.

Here's American composer Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring, dear to my heart because I live in the foothills of Appalachia.
First, 'Simple Gifts' snipped out of the whole composition. This is the old Shaker hymn, 'tis the gift to be simple, tis the gift to be free, tis the gift to come down where you want to be.' Simple and profound.

    And the full composition.

And the most amazing thing that Youtube has brought into our lives is these prodigy children.
They've always existed, but only now are getting the world-wide exposure they deserve.

The changes brought about by the internet (not just youtube) are really quite profound. I suspect those too young to remember life without it don't appreciate just what it has brought into our lives.

Anyway ... happy to see (hear) so many *wonderful* additions to this thread
