I can't believe its been seven months since I posted on this thread ....Time flys even faster on our quest for truth.....

Just like 'Don Quiote' we are on a quest to reach the Stars !!!!

    I, Don Quixote

    Aldonza

The Impossible Dream - Peter O'Toole

    DON QUIXOTE
It is the mission of each true knight...
    His duty... nay, his privilege!
    To dream the impossible dream,
    To fight the unbeatable foe,
    To bear with unbearable sorrow
    To run where the brave dare not go;
    To right the unrightable wrong.

To love, pure and chaste, from afar,
To try, when your arms are too weary,
    To reach the unreachable star!

This is my Quest to follow that star,
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far,
    To fight for the right
    Without question or pause,
To be willing to march into hell
    For a heavenly cause!

And I know, if I'll only be true
    To this glorious Quest,
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest.

And the world will be better for this,
That one man, scorned and covered with scars,
Still strove, with his last ounce of courage,
    To reach the unreachable stars!

From the first measure of the First Movement which makes me catch my breath to the last couple minutes of the Fourth Movement which gives me goosebumps every single time, Mozart's Jupiter Symphony is beyond perfection.

Classical music has always been for me the venue where talented, sensitive musicians express the SOUL
the combination of sensitivity and passion in Richters playing is astounding. Most often it is not the piece/song
I love, it is the musicians interpretation.

Sviatoslav Richter plays Chopin Ballade No. 1, Op. 23

    Fascinating bio of Richter here

Ivanhoe.. It's just what I needed too.. aaaahhhhhhhh...
It is one of the first songs that I taught myself to play on the piano.

This one is my very favorite. I simple adore Claude Debussy.. Harp and oboe..heavenly. Ever since I was a little girl, I've thought that this is what leaving my body will feel like. It's the song I want to hear when it's time for me to go. Not morbid.. just peaceful and beautiful.

Hi Red (may I call you that?), the Debussy was beautiful.
For me, one of the first classical pieces I tried to play on the piano was this piece by Debussy.
I still can't read music very fast. LOL
    Haven't really played since i was 18.

Hi, Ivanhoe.. sure call me Red. It's a lot easier to type than the whole thing. Clair De Lune was the piece that my piano teacher busted me on. I was 6 years old sitting at the piano with the sheet music opened up to that song. I was playing it quite well. The teacher was walking around the room listening to me then he stood behind me and reached over to the song book and turned it right side up. It took him almost a year to figure out that I couldn't read music and that I had been fooling him.. needless to say, my lessons were over! I still can't read a lick of music.. too much like math. I'm very right brained.

Sicilienne Op78 by Gabriel Faure.. melts the heart

    Hahaha.
Red, I was much the same, I taught myself to play. I was always too shy and insecure to play in front of anyone, and you know what they say (the notorious "they"), use it or lose it.
Well,... I lost "it". But I love classical music.
Arthritis in my thumbs doesn't help. LOL

Excellent selection Ivanhoe .. I'll see you your Moonlight Sonata and raise to a Fur Elise ....

And I'll throw in a Concerto for two Violins by Hilary Hahn for good measure Damn that girl can play!
