    C. BUKOWSKI'S FINAL HOME MOVIE FOOTAGE FROM 1992
Henry Charles Bukowski (born Heinrich Karl Bukowski; August 16, 1920 March 9, 1994) was a German-born American poet, novelist, and short story writer.

His writing was influenced by the social, cultural, and economic ambience of his home city of Los Angeles.[4] His work addresses the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women, and the drudgery of work. Bukowski wrote thousands of poems, hundreds of short stories and six novels, eventually publishing over 60 books. The FBI kept a file on him as a result of his column, Notes of a Dirty Old Man, in the LA underground newspaper Open City.[5][6]

In 1986 Time called Bukowski a "laureate of American lowlife".[7] Regarding Bukowski's enduring popular appeal, Adam Kirsch of The New Yorker wrote, "the secret of Bukowski's appeal. . . [is that] he combines the confessional poet's promise of intimacy with the larger-than-life aplomb of a pulp-fiction hero."[8]

The Genius Of The Crowd: Charles Bukowski

there is enough treachery, hatred violence absurdity in the average
human being to supply any given army on any given day
and the best at murder are those who preach against it
and the best at hate are those who preach love
and the best at war finally are those who preach peace
those who preach god, need god
those who preach peace do not have peace
those who preach peace do not have love
    beware the preachers
    beware the knowers
beware those who are always reading books
beware those who either detest poverty
    or are proud of it
    beware those quick to praise
for they need praise in return
beware those who are quick to censor
they are afraid of what they do not know
beware those who seek constant crowds for
    they are nothing alone
beware the average man the average woman
beware their love, their love is average
    seeks average
but there is genius in their hatred
there is enough genius in their hatred to kill you
    to kill anybody
    not wanting solitude
    not understanding solitude
they will attempt to destroy anything
    that differs from their own
not being able to create art
    they will not understand art
they will consider their failure as creators
only as a failure of the world
not being able to love fully
they will believe your love incomplete
and then they will hate you
and their hatred will be perfect
    like a shining diamond
    like a knife
    like a mountain
    like a tiger
    like hemlock

    Constellation Cepheus the King

Constellation Cepheus looks like a child's drawing of a house. It may be found by drawing a triangle between the familiar Little Dipper asterism, the W-shaped constellation Cassiopeia, and the cross-shaped constellation Cygnus the Swan (aka the Northern Cross). Inside that triangle, youll find a pentagon (five-sided figure) of stars. This pentagon is Cepheus.

On late November and December evenings, when W-shaped Cassiopeia the Queen rides high in the north, her husband on the skys dome, Cepheus the King, rides right along with her. House-shaped Cepheus lies inside a triangle formed by the Little Dipper, W-shaped Cassiopeia and Cygnus the Swan

The constellation Cepheus the King is visible from the Northern Hemisphere every night of the year due to its close location to Polaris, the North Star.

A Blue Banded Blood Moon APOD Podcast

"What causes a blue band to cross the Moon during a lunar eclipse? The blue band is real but usually quite hard to see. The featured HDR image of last week's lunar eclipse, however taken from Yancheng, China has been digitally processed to equalize the Moon's brightness and exaggerate the colors. The gray color of the bottom right is the Moon's natural color, directly illuminated by sunlight. The upper left part of the Moon is not directly lit by the Sun since it is being eclipsed it in the Earth's shadow. It is faintly lit, though, by sunlight that has passed deep through Earth's atmosphere. This part of the Moon is red, and called a blood Moon for the same reason that Earth's sunsets are red: because air scatters away more blue light than red. The unusual blue band is different its color is created by sunlight that has passed high through Earth's atmosphere, where red light is better absorbed by ozone than blue. A total eclipse of the Sun will occur this weekend! Have a great day, everyone, and we'll see you in class!"

Ancient Arts of Origami and Kirigami Inspire Mechanical Metamaterials

The ancient arts of origami, the art of paper-folding, and kirigami, the art of paper-cutting, have gained popularity in recent years among researchers building mechanical metamaterials. Folding and cutting 2D thin-film materials transforms them into complex 3D structures and shapes with unique and programmable mechanical properties.

In Applied Physics Reviews, by AIP Publishing, researchers in the United States and China categorize origami- and kirigami-based mechanical metamaterials, artificially engineered materials with unusual mechanical properties, into six groups based on two different criteria.

Origami and kirigami are, by nature, mechanical metamaterials, because their properties are mainly determined by how the crease patterns and/or cuts are made and just slightly depend on the material that folds the origami or kiragami, said author Hanqing Jiang.
