An Ode to Artemis I by Jatan Mehta

    A blaze aloft at night
    put a glimmer of hope
    flying past the desolation

    It ignites around Moonshine,
    so we can all dazzle
    at the suspended blue marble

It twinkles again across the void
    for a blistering comeback,
    and a tactful splash

    Let’s keep the path glowing
    for these engines of progress,
    so we can ferociously return
    To our cosmic neighbor,

FBI Releases its File on Now-Dead Journalist, Danny Casolaro: The Man of the Octopus

For some of you into conspiracies, a few days ago, the FBI uploaded its file on Danny Casolaro (on its website, The Vault). The guy was a journalist/writer who died in controversial ways back in the 1990s. Don't be too excited. There aren't many pages. But, maybe, you'll find something worth reading.

    Here's the link: https://vault.fbi.gov/daniel-joseph-...o-part-01/view

And here's the story of his life and mysterious death. And, his tie in with the secret organization known as the Octopus. So, since this is a bit timely, let's have a look at the Casolaro story ...

Quote It was the summer of 1991 – specifically August 1 of that year – when the body of a middle-aged man was discovered in a hotel room in the Martinsburg, West Virginia Sheraton Inn …

... It’s no surprise that, taking into consideration all of the controversy surrounding Casolaro’s life, investigations, and death, that other researchers began to look into his story. Two of those were Kenn Thomas and Jim Keith, who, in 1996, penned a book on the whole affair titled The Octopus – a most apt title. In late 1999, things turned ominous. Keith found that his computer had been hacked into and that someone was reading his every written word. In 1999, Keith died in a Reno hospital – and under questionable circumstances. Then, in 2001, Ron Bonds – the publisher of The Octopus – died, under equally controversial circumstances. The Octopus, it seems, is determined to ensure that no-one gets too close to the truth of its world-manipulating activities – no matter what the cost ...

Scientists Discover New Form of Ice

The unusual amorphous ice has a density close to that of liquid water

Ice cubes float in water because they’re less dense than the liquid. But a newfound type of ice has a density nearly equal to what’s in your water glass, researchers report in the Feb. 3 Science. If you could plop this ice in your cup without it melting immediately, it would bob around, neither floating nor sinking.

The new ice is a special type called an amorphous ice. That means the water molecules within it aren’t arranged in a neat pattern, as in normal, crystalline ice. Other types of amorphous ice are already known, but they have densities either lower or higher than water’s density under standard conditions. Some scientists hope this newly made amorphous ice could help solve the scientific mysteries that swirl around water.

To generate the new ice, scientists used a surprisingly simple technique. Called ball milling, it involves shaking a container of ice and stainless steel balls, cooled to 77 kelvins (nearly –200° Celsius). The researchers were motivated by curiosity; they didn’t expect the technique to produce a new amorphous ice. “It was a sort of Friday-afternoon idea we had, to just give it a go and see what happens,” says physical chemist Christoph Salzmann of University College London.

The days of being below freezing and in the clouds produced significant rime ice that coated everything on the mountain. (Drone footage. No sound.)

Jupiter Now Has the Most Moons in the Solar System

Jupiter Takes the Lead – Will Saturn Come Back?

Move over, Saturn: Jupiter is the solar system's new 'moon master'.

Jupiter isn't just the largest and most massive planet in the solar system — now, the gas giant also boasts the largest number of moons orbiting it after scientists discovered another 12 moons, bringing the behemoth's total up to 92.

The orbits of the 12 hitherto undiscovered moons represent a 15% increase in the planet's known moons. With these new discoveries, Jupiter seizes the record for "solar system planet with most moons" from the previous record holder, Saturn.

Scientists have found 83 moons to date around the ringed gas giant Saturn, the second-largest planet in the solar system. However, astronomers have also found tons of rocks down to about 2 miles (3 kilometers) wide around Saturn without yet tracking the objects precisely. As instruments become capable of studying these smaller moons, Jupiter may have to relinquish its new title back to Saturn.

Did humans domesticate plants, or did they domesticate us? Archaeologists at Çatalhöyük, a 9,000-year-old site in Turkey, offer lessons on how agriculture and other major innovations can yield unexpected long-term consequences for human society and the world around us.

February 5: Mini Full Snow Moon (at 1:28 p.m. EST)

The February full moon will occur on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 1:28 p.m. EST, 10:28 a.m. PST, or 18:28 GMT. The indigenous Anishnaabe (Ojibwe and Chippewa) people of the Great Lakes region call the February full moon Namebini-giizis "Sucker Fish Moon" or Mikwa-giizis, the "Bear Moon". For them, it signifies a time to discover how to see beyond reality and to communicate through energy rather than sound. The Algonquin call it Wapicuummilcum, the "Ice in River is Gone" moon. The Cree of North America call it Kisipisim, the "the Great Moon", a time when the animals remain hidden away and traps are empty. For Europeans and others, it is known as the Snow Moon or Hunger Moon.
