Interview with a Fully Conscious UFO Contactee: Part Five -- GATHERING THE CHILDREN

The continuing story and recollections of Ms Dolly Safran, who is scheduled to do a live AMA with Mr Dennett.

Quote In this interview (Part Five of a series) Dolly describes the very controversial aspect of UFO encounters that many people call abductions. She doesn’t call them that. And neither do the ETs. The extraterrestrials are contacting people and bringing them onboard, but they call this process, “Gathering the Children.”

A Journey to the End of the Universe

Could humans ever travel to other galaxies within their lifetime? The immense scale of the Universe seems to prohibit such voyages; after all the nearest galaxy is so far away that it takes light itself - the fastest thing we know of - 2.5 million years to complete the trip. Remarkably, there is a trick that might allow humans to accomplish this feat - join us today as we step onboard the constantly accelerating spaceship! Written and presented by Professor David Kipping.

    Beyond the Observable Universe [4K]

Our view of the cosmos is limited to the observable universe - the slice of space containing all the galaxies that can be seen from Earth. But what we perceive to be the edge of our universe is not the actual edge of the universe - with most scientists in agreement that more space lies hidden beyond what we're able to see.

Last time out, we travelled to the very edge of our observable universe. But today, we will be going even farther, as we wade out into the darkness of the unobserved universe.

Cassiopeia the Queen Reigns in February

On late northern winter evenings and throughout spring, Cassiopeia the Queen descends in her throne in the northwest after nightfall. Cassiopeia is one of the easiest constellations to spot because of its distinctive shape. Cassiopeia looks like the letter W or M. Look for the Queen as your sky gets dark in February and March. She’ll be lower in the northwest as spring begins to unfold. For those in the northern U.S. and Canada, Cassiopeia is circumpolar, or above the horizon all night every night.

Upside-down Cassiopeia, as depicted on Mercator celestial globe in 1551

Cassiopeia is home to five bright stars that form the W shape. Some describe these stars as outlining the chair – or throne – she sits upon. If you’re viewing Cassiopeia as the letter W, the stars, from left to right, are Segin, Ruchbah, Gamma Cassiopeiae, Schedar and Caph.

In sky lore and in Greek mythology, Cassiopeia was the beautiful and vain queen of Ethiopia. It is said that she committed the sin of pride by boasting that both she and her daughter Andromeda were more beautiful than the Nereids, or sea nymphs.

Her boast angered Poseidon, god of the sea, who sent a sea monster (Cetus the Whale) to ravage the kingdom. To pacify the monster, Cassiopeia’s daughter, Princess Andromeda, was left tied to a rock by the sea. Cetus was about to devour her when Perseus the Hero happened by on Pegasus the Winged Horse.

Perseus rescued the princess, and all lived happily ever after … as stars.

    The Sky at Night

February 9: The stars of Orion's belt (evening)

Orion's three belt stars are bright enough to tolerate tonight's moonlight. They may look similar, but they are actually quite different. The left-most (easterly) of the three, magnitude 1.85 Alnitak (Zeta Orionis) is bluer. Alnitak (Arabic for "the Girdle") is revealed to be a very tight magnitude 1.85 double star. At 1,976 light-years from our sun, the middle star, Alnilam (Epsilon Orionis) is more than twice as far away as the other two.

February 10: Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) meets Mars (evening)

    https://www.space.com/16149-night-sky.html

On Friday night, Feb. 10, the path of Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is predicted to carry it closely past the bright red planet Mars. The pair will be positioned nearly overhead in the southwestern sky, between the very bright stars Aldebaran in Taurus, the Bull and Capella in Auriga, the Charioteer. Mars and the comet will be close enough to share the field of view in binoculars (green circle) and widefield telescopes.

February 11: Appreciate the Pleiades (all night)

At about 8 p.m. local time on mid-February evenings, the Pleiades open star cluster, also known as the Seven Sisters and Messier 45, is positioned high in the southwestern sky. The rest of its home constellation Taurus, the Bull sits to the left of the cluster. Visually, the Pleiades is composed of medium-bright, hot blue stars named Asterope, Merope, Electra, Maia, Taygeta, Celaeno, and Alcyone. In Greek mythology, those characters were the daughters of Atlas.

ESA Successfully Unfurls Sail to Drag Spacecraft Out of Orbit

The prototype drag sail could help humanity deal with its growing space-junk problem

    (Artist's impression)

The European Space Agency (ESA) has successfully unfurled a sail aboard a used cubesat to help drag the spacecraft down into Earth's atmosphere and out of orbit.

The Drag Augmentation Deorbiting System (ADEO) was deployed from an orbiting Ion satellite carrier in late December 2022. The sail will help catch more of Earth's tenuous upper atmosphere, allowing the cubesat to come down in a matter of months rather than the years it would otherwise take, ESA officials said.

The 38.7-square-foot (3.6 square meters) aluminum-coated polyamide membrane sail provides a passive method of deorbiting; it increases the atmospheric surface drag effect and causes an accelerated decay in the satellite's orbital altitude.

China similarly tested a 269-square-foot (25 square m) drag sail last year to help deorbit a payload adapter sooner than otherwise possible.

A Canyon Of Fire Opened at the Sun - Large Prominence Eruption

    Solar Flare and Shock Wave

A canyon of fire just opened on the sun. The walls of the canyon were carved by an erupting filament of magnetism, which went on to form the core of a CME now leaving the sun. Active sunspot AR3213 exploded during the early hours of Feb 10th (0303 UT), producing an M3.7-class solar flare and a shock wave in the sun's atmosphere. Based on the drift rate of a Type II solar radio burst reported by the US Air Force, the shock speed was 820 km/s (1.8 million mph).

    SOLAR FLARE AND RADIO BLACKOUT

Earth-orbiting satellites have just detected an X1.1-class solar flare from sunspot AR3217 (Feb. 11th @ 1548 UTC). Extreme UV radiation ionized the top of Earth's atmosphere, causing a strong shortwave radio blackout over South America.

This was an impulsive flare, intense and fast. It may not have lasted long enough to lift a CME out of the sun's atmosphere. Confirmation awaits fresh data from SOHO coronagraphs.
