    Double Red Sprites
    Planet Earth Phenomenon
    https://www.facebook.com/planetearthphenomenon

"Amazing double red sprites captured by Panagiotis Tsouras in Aegean Sea Greece earlier today: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid...51508561271234
Red sprites are large-scale electric discharges that occur in the mesosphere, high above thunderstorm clouds, or cumulonimbus, giving rise to a varied range of visual shapes flickering in the night sky. They are usually triggered by the discharges of positive lightning between an underlying thundercloud and the ground. Reports of optical phenomena above thunderstorms where first published in scientific literature in the late 19th century (Toynbee and Mackenzie, 1886, Everett and Everett, 1903). In the 1950s the first airborne observation was reported from a commercial airlines pilot over Fiji (Wright, 1950). CTR Wilson, regarded as the father of lightning theory, was the first to try to describe these phenomena physically (Wilson, 1956). Not until 1989 were these phenomena captured on film. A group from the University of Minnesota recorded a twin upward flash from distant cloud tops while testing a low light level TV camera intended for sounding rockets (Franz,et al 1989)
The name "sprite" was first proposed by Dr. Davis Sentman from the University of Alaska and first used in literature by W.A. Lyons in 1994."

    'VORONYA CAVE

Voronya Cave, the closest point to the center of the Earth.

One of Jules Verne's most desired dreams, published in his 1864 novel, "Journey to the Center of the Earth" was to enter the interior of the Earth. Although Veryovkina Cave does not take us to these depths, it does allow us to reach the closest known point to the center of the planet.

Veryovkina Cave, approximately 2,212 meters deep, is the deepest cave in the world.

It is located in the pass between the Krepost and Zont mountains in the Abkhazia region, an independent state officially declared part of Georgia. In 1968, the cave was discovered by some speleologists from the city of Krasnoyarsk, who managed to reach a depth of 115 meters.

In 1986, a new group from Moscow led by Oleg Parfenov reached the remarkable depth of 440 meters. Since 2015, a series of new raids by the Perovo-Speleo group have determined that the cave was deeper, repeatedly reaching new and better marks until reaching a record 2,212 meters in March 2018 and recording an underground tunnel system of more than 6,000 meters .

    meters .

'The Grizzly Giant is a giant sequoia in Yosemite National Park's Mariposa Grove. It has been measured many times; in 1990 Wendell Flint calculated its volume at 34,005 cubic feet, making it the 26th-largest living giant sequoia.'

'US cavalry soldiers posing in front of a tree known as the "Grizzly Giant" 1900. The tree 🌳 still stands today and is estimated to be around 3,000 years old. A true beauty!

' "No, it's not a painting and it wasn't photoshopped either. These are polar stratospheric clouds over Iceland.”

Polar stratospheric ice clouds (naked clouds) form at temperatures below the ice sublimation point, usually around −85 °C, a temperature lower than the average temperature of the lower stratosphere.'

'The deepest and largest natural well on the planet is called Xiaozhai Tiankeng. It is located in Fengjie, Chonqinun Municipality, in the heart of China. This incredible well is completely natural and reaches 662 meters deep, 626 meters long and 537 meters wide. But the most surprising thing is not just its size or its almost vertical walls, but the explosion of life it hosts.
Xiaozhai Tiankeng is what geologists call a well or ditch, a depression of the soil generated, among other things, by the effect of water. In this case, it was formed on a cave and houses an underground river measuring a total of 8.5 kilometers and flows into a spectacular waterfall. Its enormous size makes it the well of its kind, known as tiankeng, the largest and deepest in the world.
Beyond its size, Xiaozhai Tiankeng impresses for the biodiversity that houses within it. Its base is so large that it's home to 1,300 species of plants including ginkgo and wild animals. Among the most fascinating "tenants" who stroll through their underground forest, stands out the nebula panther (Neofelis nebulosa), an unmistakable hairy cat that reaches up to 1.1 meters and often rests in trees.
This tiankeng is located in a large karst area of 280 km2 formed by limestone. Experts believe that the well, between 511 and 662 meters deep, has taken shape in the last 128,000 years. For much of its history, until the roof of the cave collapsed, it was a huge underground cave. China also has other significant sized tiankengs, such as Dashiwei. Strangely, despite its size, Xiaozhai Tiankeng has begun studying relatively recently, although the local people have known him since ancient times.'
