Characteristics similar to aliens, demons, men in black...
monotone speech, unusual grammar, don't answer questions,
stilted behaviour, they always ask to be invited in,
will not enter without invitation, (like vampires?)
appear and disappear without trace, scare animals,
legitimate sightings, professionals, law enforcement, etc.
cases around the world, very mysterious...

update: I would also add people describe a feeling of being mind controlled, compelled to carry out the veiled requests (which become progressively more aggressive and demanding) while at the same time feeling a conflicting fear, that becomes a full blown and traumatizing terror in every reported case (10 year old kids (with or without) contact lenses are not capable of evoking that in my experience)

I think what they are getting at is they are not really children, just like the men in black are not really government agents driving around in classic vintage buicks...
they're projecting, almost as if from another dimension (maybe why the time difference in demeanor and car model?)... 10 year old kids aren't really that scary... (ok some of them maybe)

i don't like the tone of focusing on eye colour. Remember that class experiment with the brown eyed kids? It's a sensitive topic. We may think that we live in a world were eye colour no longer matters but it does very much and so proves the success of coloured contacts, not only worn by women but also by men (and also heterosexuals). Cooper once said intelligence fed Strieber data to process as fiction when it was real. But I have no precise sources for that.
Just recently a Holocaust survivor released a book, I think it's called Blue Eyes, in which she gives a testimony of how she was a labrat for Mengele's project of trying to turn dark eyes into blue ones by infusing fluids through the skull. The details were horrible. This woman was a twin and her sister died because of the stuff she was infused with. The surviving sister still suffers health problems.

I haven't viewed the videos yet. It's probably little to do with all this but one way or another it helps give dark eyes a stigma and that calls for caution.

I don't think there is applicaton there Violet, what he is talking about is pure black no pupil, no iris, no whites, just pure black... i.e. as in other worldly or alien... i.e. no connection, left field totally missing the point... no connection... and no offense taken but would like to limit off topic distracting comments...

On the hand Whitley brings up an interesting point... all these people said they can feel the hypnotic pull of something on them, and feel some kind of psychological stress as a result... and asked if anyone has ever "invited them in" ...then he asked was it possible, because of the unusual psychological trauma of some of these individuals, if they had in fact opened the door and invited them in?... And if what they are experiencing was, in fact, some form of psychological repressed trauma as a result?... i.e. the memory is a false implant...

That was a brilliant conjecture and insight on Whitley's part... not implausible at all, given the nature of this phenomena, if it is in fact real, which Weatherly is suggesting he has enough witness accounts documented to validate that it is...

As crazy as it sounds, it is odd that no one has ever had their guard down and let these children in... with the exception of the child story. He did mention he has a couple stories, but he didn't have permission to discuss them... because the people are even more traumatized! Now that is driving me crazy... why can't he tell the story if he changes the names and places? hmm...

The child story is interesting in and of itself... Whitley only touched on it, but for some bizarre reason the child felt no fear... Now think about that... you couldn't make this stuff up... Again the psychological angle would say most children would be very frightened... but... what if there was a "psychological influence at play? children are more amenable to psychological suggestion and hypnosis, and this would be consistent again! i.e. the child was not experiencing any fear because he was completely under the influence at the time... Now that is a scary observation and implication if accurate...

Dilation of the pupils is called Mydriasis. It is frequently seen in people who are experiencing certain drug-induced episodes - Which could possibly explain their odd and "other worldly" presentation?

Our recent debunking of the black-eyed children phenomenon has been under fire recently. Our post has garnered hundreds of thousands of page views since it was published in December, and we are deluged by angry email on a daily basis- both from believers and skeptics alike. Our response, up until now, has always been: "Show us some proof and we'll change our opinion".

In spite of replying with this message hundreds of times, we have yet to encounter anyone who can offer undeniable concrete evidence that black eyed kids (or BEKs, as they are sometimes called) exist. We have so much faith in our explanation that we are "upping the ante". JOTB will offer a $10,000 reward for concrete evidence that black eyed children exist.

Our assertion is that a natural pupillary response, mydriasis, is responsible for the blackening of the eyes (with the rare exception of those who have abnormal medical conditions, black-colored contact lenses, tattooed pupils, traumatic brain injury, and the like). It is our opinion that this is a side effect of recreational drug use, since LSD, DMT (dimethyltryptamine), mescaline, and psilocybin, Ecstacy, "bath salts", cocaine, amphetamines, atropine, and scopolamine have been shown to cause mydriasis- and the increase in "sightings" of black eyed children over the past few years is directly proportional to increases in the usage of Ecstacy and bath salts.

Of course, some people have ridiculed this explanation. One such writer, Dustin Carlsen, called us out by name in an article on Inquisitr.com:

"There’s a laughably bad Journal of the Bizarre post that claims to “debunk” the black eyed children phenomenon with pseudo-biological and pragmatic arguments that sometimes seem about as far-fetched as there being black eyed children in the first place."

Pseudo-biological? Hmm, that's funny, since our sources include Millodot's Dictionary of Optometry and Visual Science, Dorland's Medical Dictionary, and Clinical Ocular Pharmacology by renowned expert Jimmy D. Bartlett. Mr. Carlsen must be under the impression that medical dictionaries are written by pseudo-scientists.

If you really want to read something laughable, be sure to check out the Inquisitr article- especially the part in which the author states:

"Personally, I think this is some kind of viral marketing initiative for a new horror movie. I’ll do some investigating and get back to you."

In a monumental display of stupidity (the likes of which most of us will never encounter in a lifetime), the author makes the above statement after opening his article claiming that BEK sightings have been "somewhat common" since 1988. A 25-year viral marketing campaign? One that predates viral marketing itself? Amazing. That's sure to be one killer flick Hollywood is working on.

Tell you what, Dustin- you keep "investigating", and then report back to us with what you find. You just might end up winning the $10,000 reward. That is, unless you're too busy "investigating" such matters as what Kim Kardashian ate for lunch yesterday, Justin Bieber's favorite color, or where Taylor Swift goes shopping for bathing suits.
