This is an awesome thread Delight!! So far I've watched Timescape – Distaster in Time, Quest for Love, The Lathe of Heaven, and The Two Worlds of Jennie Logan. I'm going to watch Serenity next lol . I don't know how I missed some of these!! I've seen a few of these already but still have a several left to watch that look really good.

I want to add “The 4400” to this thread. It's a tv series but I loved it! All 4 seasons are available on NetFlix. Here's a trailer:

Also, I recently watched a mini-series (8 episodes) called “The Returned”. The audio is in French and subtitles in English. I normally avoid subtitles but this was really good! I believe it is based on the film, Les Revenants, that was originally aired in France:

    Here's a trailer:

Oh, and I'm looking forward to the series “Resurrection” starting in March, the American version of “The Returned”. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resurre...U.S._TV_series)

This thread gets better every time I come back! I just watched "Green Beautiful". I loved it.

These were two of my favorites when I was a kid:

The Dark Crystal--It's Tolkienish, and it has Jim Henson puppets--a wonderful mix!

and Labyrinth--more puppets and music by David Bowie!

Then there's Pan's Labyrinth (not Jim Henson) but awesome.

Sorry if these aren't adult enough for the thread. I still like them.

If we're including TV shows, there as a zombie mini-series on the BBC that wasn't really your average zombie show. It was dark, sad and really makes you think about what it means to "be alive". Also, it pokes a stick at bigotry and hypocrisy.

There's something that doesn't make sense. Let's go and poke it with a stick.

Posted on another thread here https://projectavalon.net/forum4/show...l=1#post801902

"Ink (2009)" is one of the most original movies I have seen.

And it reminded me of another MOST original film "Primer (2004)". Both deserve multiple viewings to grok

I could not watch Pan's Labyrinth before because it felt terrible ...maybe can now?

    "Willow (1988)" fits here.

I don't really recall Willow, but I do recall the "feelings" and associations I got from it. Perhaps I'll have to dig that out again. I was young when I watched that originally.

And I'll second The Dark Crystal, weird but really cool. I was also young when I first watched that, I found it completely fascinating. Jim Henson's best IMHO.

Not really on the "chick flick" end of things but I always loved "Time Bandits" -- another childhood favourite - and the last 10 minutes or so is profound, IMHO.

Rachel McAdams was beautiful in "About Time". A really uplifting love story where time travel comes in real handy. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2194499/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_6

She also did "The Time Traveler's Wife" in 2009.
