The "eternal" problem of humanity. Yet it is not man's normal state to be in conflict with others... Warfare within any scale is not actually normal, it has been just accepted as a normal because nothing else is being remembered. A state of innocence and harmony that is, where it would be unimaginable to harm another. Why in the world would anyone sane want to hurt themselves by hurting the "other"?

You could of course say that the human intellect and ego has gone insane too.
That is being only encouraged by certain forces. It has been a game of one-upmanship.
