An astonishing double-standard at play here from OfCom.

If ever there was an organisation that should be called to account on breaking impartiality rules, it would be the BBC, as prime suspect number one. There are too many actual instances to be able to cite all of them here.

From the BBCs Royal Charter, and I quote:

    - - - - - - - - - -
    6. The Public Purposes
The Public Purposes of the BBC are as follows.
    (1) To provide impartial news and information to help people understand and
engage with the world around them:
the BBC should provide duly accurate and
impartial news, current affairs and factual programming to build people’s understanding of all parts of the United Kingdom and of the wider world. Its content should be provided to the highest editorial standards.

It should offer a range and depth of analysis and content not widely available from other United Kingdom news providers, using the highest calibre presenters and journalists, and championing freedom of expression, so that all audiences can engage fully with major local, regional, national, United Kingdom and global issues and participate in the democratic process, at all levels, as active and informed citizens.

    - - - - - - - - - -

A good example to view that demonstrates this kind of breaching very clearly would be the following documentary:

    London Calling
Released 2016 - dir. Alan Knight

    Source: https://topdocumentaryfilms.com/london-calling/

    Overview
The divide between hard news and propaganda has become murkier than ever in recent years. Audiences from both sides of the aisle have observed an insidious media bias at play whether they consume their news online, in the morning papers or on the nightly networks. The presentation of alternative facts has inspired a palpable sense of disillusionment and mistrust among viewership. The documentary London Calling, based on the popular book of the same name by author GA Ponsonby, recounts one of the egregious examples of bias as it targets the BBC and their role in defeating the 2014 referendum for Scotland's independence.

The 'Yes' campaign for independence was rightfully viewed as an underdog, but public support was growing. In the lead up to the vote, however, much of the media seemed chilly to their movement. This was definitely the case with the BBC, a large and long-respected organization that many credit with propelling the downfall of the movement. Key figures within the campaign, media insiders and ordinary voters give voice to the frustrations of the 'Yes' campaigners who experienced defeat both in the voting booth and in the promise of an impartial media.

Do they have a point? The evidence points to much more than just sour grapes. The film is littered with instances of bias committed by the BBC. Opponents cite a series of deceitful headlines, cheap tactics that provoked fear in the outcome of a yes vote, and coverage that failed to find a balance between both sides of the issue. The organization willfully evaded the lingering questions, scandals and controversies that marked the campaign to vote against the independence measure. Meanwhile, leaders in the 'Yes' campaign were tormented by manufactured character assassinations and a barrage of exaggerated negative reporting. Pro-union interests who stood against the quest for independence were given a dominant role in programming while many Scots with a different point of view were given short shrift.

For their part, the BBC claims they adhered to the strictest ethical standards of impartiality in their reporting. But the damage seems to have already been done as more viewers consume their media with increasingly discerning eyes. London Calling exposes the importance of an impartial press that is truly representative of the people, and the democratic catastrophes which can occur in its absence. It's a scary potential that we all must struggle against.

Sophocles, Thanks for posting this most important information. The fact that Facebook is testing the waters, basically stating that it's ok to make threats to those they deem dangerous is really, really terrifying. They are symbolically stating that we will tell you who you should dislike and it is ok to throw stones at them. Weird coming from Zuckerburg, considering he is of Jewish ancestry.Maybe he needs to review his history. Apparently their are still enough people that can think and complained enough that this "community guideline" was removed. They were putting out feelers to see just how far they can go..

Dr. Robert Epstein's testimony before the Senate concerning Google's search manipulation and its impact on elections.

Quote Transcript of Testimony by Dr. Robert Epstein before the Senate committee with focus on Search Engine Manipulation Effect (SEME)

I AM, INDEED, DR. ROBERT EPSTEIN. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR YOU TO KNOW OF ME IS THAT I'M THE FATHER OF FIVE WONDERFUL CHILDREN. AS IT HAPPENS, I'M A RESEARCH PSYCHOLOGIST AT THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE FOR BEHAVIORAL RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY. I HAVE BEEN CENTER, CENTER LEFT MY WHOLE ADULT LIFE. BUT I VALUE MY COUNTRY AND DEMOCRACY MORE THAN I VALUE ANY PARTY OR CANDIDATE. THAT IS WHY I'M SPEAKING OUT TODAY. I'M HERE TO EXPLAIN WHY GOOGLE POSES A SERIOUS THREAT TO DEMOCRACY, HOW MONITORING SYSTEMS CAN PROTECT US FROM COMPANIES LIKE GOOGLE AND HOW CONGRESS CAN IMMEDIATELY END GOOGLE'S WORLDWIDE MONOPOLY ON SEARCH. MY PLAN FOR ENDING THAT MONOPOLY WAS PUBLISHED JUST YESTERDAY IN "BUSINESS WEEK." I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT MY ARTICLE BE ENTERED INTO THE CONGRESSIONAL RECORD, IT'S ATTACHED TO MY FULL TESTIMONY. >> I'VE BEEN A RESEARCH PSYCHOLOGIST FOR NEARLY 40 YEARS, MY M.Ph.D IS FROM HARVARD. MY FOCUS HAS BEEN ON GOOGLE, ITS CENSORSHIP CAPABILITIES AND UNPRECEDENTED ABILITY TO MANIPULATE THE THINKING OF 2.5 BILLION PEOPLE, SOON TO BE 4-PLUS BILLION. I'VE WRITTEN ARTICLES ABOUT GOOGLE FOR "TIME" MAGAZINE, "USA TODAY," THAT KIND OF THING. BUT ALSO FOR "THE DAILY CALLER" AND EVEN RUSSIA'S "SPUTNIK NEWS." I REACH OUT TO DIVERSE AUDIENCES BECAUSE I BELIEVE THE THREATS POSED BY GOOGLE AND TO A LESSER EXTENT FACEBOOK ARE SO SERIOUS THAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THEM. HERE ARE JUST THREE DISTURBING FINDINGS FROM MY RESEARCH, WHICH ADHERES TO THE VERY HIGHEST STANDARDS OF SCIENTIFIC INTEGRITY. NUMBER ONE, IN 2016, GOOGLE'S SEARCH ALGORITHM LIKELY IMPACTED UNDECIDED VOTERS IN A WAY THAT SHIFTED AT LEAST 2.6 MILLION VOTES TO HILLARY CLINTON, WHOM I SUPPORTED. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I PRESERVED MORE THAN 13,000 ELECTION-RELATED SEARCHES PRIOR TO ELECTION DAY AND GOOGLE'S SEARCH RESULTS WERE BIASED IN FAVOR OF SECRETARY CLINTON. I KNOW THE NUMBER OF VOTES THAT SHIFTED BECAUSE I'VE CONDUCTED DOZENS OF CONTROLLED EXPERIMENTS THAT MEASURE HOW OPINIONS SHIFT WHEN SEARCH RESULTS ARE BIASED. I CALL THIS SHIFT THE. BIASED SEARCH RESULTS CAN EASILY PRODUCE SHIFTS IN THE OPINIONS AND VOTING PREFERENCES OF UNDECIDED VOTERS BY UP TO 80% IN SOME DEMOGRAPHIC GROUPS, BECAUSE PEOPLE BLINDLY TRUST HIGH-RANKING SEARCH RESULTS OVER LOWER ONES. THIS IS AN ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS FORM OF INFLUENCE BECAUSE IT IS, IN EFFECT, SUBLIMINAL. IT ALSO LEAVES NO PAPER TRAIL FOR AUTHORITIES TO TRACE. IT'S AN EXAMPLE OF A SHORT-LIVED OR, QUOTE, EPHEMERAL EXPERIENCE. YOU'LL FIND THAT IN INTERNAL EMAILS THAT HAVE LEAKED RECENTLY FROM GOOGLE. I'M NOT STUDYING SEVEN SUCH MANIPULATIONS AND UNLIKE BILLBOARDS OR THOSE RUSSIAN-PLACED ADS, THESE MANIPULATIONS ARE INVISIBLE AND NONCOMPETITIVE. THEY'RE CONTROLLED ENTIRELY BY BIG TECH COMPANIES AND THERE IS NO WAY TO COUNTERACT THEM. NUMBER TWO. ON ELECTION DAY IN 2018, THE GO VOTE REMINDER THAT GOOGLE DISPLAYED ON ITS HOME PAGE GAVE ONE POLITICAL PARTY AT LEAST 800,000 MORE VOTES THAN IT GAVE THE OTHER PARTY. THAT REMINDER WAS NOT A PUBLIC SERVICE, IT WAS A VOTE MANIPULATION. NUMBER THREE. IN THE WEEKS LEADING UP TO THE 2018 ELECTION, BIAS IN GOOGLE'S SEARCH RESULTS MAY HAVE SHIFTED UPWARDS OF 78.2 MILLION VOTES SPREAD ACROSS MANY RACES, TO THE CANDIDATES OF ONE POLITICAL PARTY. THIS NUMBER IS BASED ON BIAS IN DATA CAPTURED BY MY 2018 MONITORING SYSTEM WHICH PRESERVED MORE THAN 47,000 ELECTION-RELATED SEARCHES CONDUCTED BY A DIVERSE GROUP OF AMERICAN VOTERS. I KNOW HOW TO STOP BIG TECH IN ITS TRACKS, AND THAT BRINGS ME, BRIEFLY HERE, TO MONITORING SYSTEMS AND THE PROPOSAL I PUBLISHED YESTERDAY. A 2015 PHONE CALL FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF MISSISSIPPI PROMPTED ME TO START A YEAR'S LONG PROJECT IN WHICH I HAVE LEARNED HOW TO CAPTURE ONLINE EPHEMERAL EXPERIENCES. IN EARLY 2016, I DEPLOYED A SYSTEM THAT ALLOWED MY TEAM TO LOOK OVER PEOPLE'S SHOULDERS AS THEY CONDUCTED ONLINE SEARCHES, WITH THEIR PERMISSION. I DEPLOYED A MORE SOPHISTICATED SYSTEM IN 2018 AND I'M RAISING FUNDS NOW TO BUILD A MUCH MORE COMPREHENSIVE SYSTEM IN 2020, ONE THAT WILL ALLOW US TO CATCH BIG TECH IN THE ACT TO INSTANTLY SPOT WHEN FACEBOOK IS BIASSING NEWS FEEDS OR WHEN TWITTER IS SUPPRESSING TWEETS SENT BY ANN COULTER OR ELIZABETH WARREN. THIS SYSTEM MUST BE BUILT TO KEEP AN EYE ON BIG TECH IN 2020, BECAUSE IF THESE COMPANIES ALL SUPPORT THE SAME CANDIDATE, THEY WILL HAVE THE POWER TO SHIFT 15 MILLION VOTES TO THAT CANDIDATE. TO LET BIG TECH GET AWAY WITH SUBLIMINAL MANIPULATION ON THIS SCALE WOULD BE TO MAKE THE FREE AND FAIR ELECTION MEANINGLESS. FINALLY, REGARDING YESTERDAY'S ARTICLE, CONGRESS CAN QUICKLY END GOOGLE'S WORLDWIDE MONOPOLY BY DECLARING GOOGLE'S MASSIVE SEARCH INDEX, THE DATABASE THE COMPANY USES TO GENERATE SEARCH RESULTS, TO BE A PUBLIC COMMONS, ACCESSIBLE BY ALL. JUST AS A 1956 CONSENT DECREE FORCED AT&T TO SHARE ALL ITS PATENTS. THERE IS PRECEDENT IN BOTH LAW AND GOOGLE'S BUSINESS PRACTICES TO JUSTIFY TAKING THIS STEP, WHICH WILL MAKE ONLINE SEARCH COMPETITIVE AGAIN AND DRAMATICALLY DIMINISH GOOGLE'S POWER WORLDWIDE. IN 1961, EISENHOWER WARNED ABOUT THE POSSIBLE RISE OF A TECHNOLOGICAL ELITE THAT WOULD CONTROL PUBLIC POLICY WITHOUT PEOPLE'S AWARENESS. THAT ELITE NOW EXISTS AND YOU MUST DETERMINE WHERE WE GO FROM HERE. CHAIRMAN CRUZ, RANKING MEMBER HIRONO, MRS. BLACKBURN, OTHER MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE, DEMOCRACY AS ORIGINALLY CONCEIVED CANNOT SURVIVE BIG TECH AS CURRENTLY EMPOWERED

Killing Free Speech in France, Germany and on the Internet

    by Judith Bergman

    • In early July, France's National Assembly adopted a draft bill designed to curtail online hate speech. The draft bill gives social media platforms 24 hours to remove "hateful content" or risk fines of up to 4% percent of their global revenue. The bill has gone to the French Senate and could become law after parliament's summer recess. If it does, France will be the second country in Europe after Germany to pass a law that directly makes a social media company censor its users on behalf of the state.
    • Knowing that a mere Facebook post could end you up in front of a judge in court is very likely to put a decisive damper on anyone's desire to speak freely.
    • If Facebook's agreement with France is replicated by other European countries, whatever is left of free speech in Europe, especially on the internet, is likely to dry up fast.
    • While Facebook eagerly claims to be fighting hate speech online, including claiming to have removed millions of pieces of terrorist content from its platform, according to a recent report from the Daily Beast, 105 posts of some of Al Qaeda's most notorious terrorists are still up on Facebook, as well as YouTube.
    • When will Facebook -- and YouTube -- make it a priority to remove material featuring the terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki, whose incitement has inspired actual terrorists to kill people?

In May, France called for increasing government oversight over Facebook. Now Facebook has agreed to hand over to French judges the identification data of French users suspected of hate speech on its platform, according to France's Secretary of State for the Digital Sector, Cédric O.

Previously, according to a Reuters report,
"Facebook had refrained from handing over identification data of people suspected of hate speech because it was not compelled to do so under U.S.-French legal conventions and because it was worried countries without an independent judiciary could abuse it".
Until now, Reuters noted, Facebook had only cooperated with the French judiciary on matters related to terrorist attacks and violent acts by transferring the IP addresses and other identification data of suspected individuals to French judges who formally demanded it.

Now, however, "hate speech" -- as speech that fails to comply with current political orthodoxy is conveniently labelled -- appears to have become comparable to terrorism and violent crime. How autocratic, yet Cédric O apparently loves it:
"This is huge news, it means that the judicial process will be able to run normally".
It is highly probable that other countries will want to have a similar agreement with Facebook; it also appears likely that Facebook would comply. In May, for instance, as France was debating legislation that would give a new "independent regulator" the power to fine tech companies up to 4% of their global revenue if they do not do enough to remove "hateful content" from their network, Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg commented:
"I am hopeful that it [the French proposal] can become a model that can be used across the EU".
France is the first and so far only country to have entered into such an agreement with Facebook.

The new agreement could signal the de-facto end of free speech on Facebook for French citizens. Self-censorship in Europe is already widespread: a recent survey in Germany showed that two thirds of Germans are "very careful" about what topics they discuss in public -- Islam and migrants being the most taboo. Knowing that a mere Facebook post could end you up in front of a judge in court is very likely to put a decisive damper on anyone's desire to speak freely.

French authorities are already in the process of setting an extremely public example of what can happen to those who use their freedom of speech on the internet. Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Rally Party, was recently ordered to stand trial and could face a maximum sentence of three years in prison and a fine of 75,000 euros ($85,000) for circulating "violent messages that incite terrorism or pornography or seriously harm human dignity". In 2015, she had tweeted images of atrocities committed by ISIS in Syria and Iraq to show what ISIS was doing.

If Facebook's agreement with France is replicated by other European countries, whatever is left of free speech in Europe, especially on the internet, is likely to dry up fast.

In early July, France's National Assembly adopted a draft bill designed to curtail online hate speech.

Also in early July, in Germany -- where the censorship law, known as NetzDG, also requires Facebook to remove content within 24 hours or face fines of up to 50 million euros -- the Federal Office of Justice imposed a €2 million regulatory fine on Facebook
"for the incomplete information provided in its published report [the publication of its transparency report for the first half of 2018 required under NetzDG] on the number of complaints received about unlawful content. This provides the general public with a distorted image both of the amount of unlawful content and of the social network's response".
According to Germany's Federal Office of Justice, Facebook does not inform its users sufficiently of the option to report "criminal content" in the specific "NetzDG reporting form":
"Facebook has two reporting systems in place: its standard feedback and reporting channels on the one hand, and the 'NetzDG reporting form' on the other. Users who wish to submit a complaint about criminal content under the Network Enforcement Act find themselves steered towards the standard channels, since the parallel existence of standard channels and the 'NetzDG reporting form' is not made sufficiently transparent, and the 'NetzDG reporting form' is too hidden...Where social networks offer more than one reporting channel, this must be made clear and transparent to users, and the complaints received via these channels are to be included in the transparency report. After all, procedures to handle complaints of unlawful content have a considerable impact on transparency."
    In response, Facebook said:
"We want to remove hate speech as quickly and effectively as possible and work to do so. We are confident our published NetzDG reports are in accordance with the law, but as many critics have pointed out, the law lacks clarity."
While Facebook claims to be fighting hate speech online, including claiming to have removed millions of pieces of terrorist content from its platform, according to a recent report from the Daily Beast, 105 posts of some of Al Qaeda's most notorious terrorists are still up on Facebook, as well as YouTube.

The terrorists include Ibrahim Suleiman al-Rubaish, who was imprisoned for more than five years in Guantanamo Bay for training with al Qaeda and fighting alongside the Taliban in Afghanistan against the United States, and Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born terrorist, both killed by American drone strikes. According to one US counter-terrorism official, speaking in September of 2016:
"If you were to look at people who had committed acts of terrorism or had been arrested and you took a poll, you'd find that the majority of them had some kind of exposure to Awlaki."
Awlaki was preaching and spreading his message of jihad in American mosques as early as the 1990s. At the Masjid Ar-Ribat al-Islami mosque in San Diego, between 1996-2000, two of the future 9/11 hijackers attended his sermons. He is also reported to have inspired several other terrorists, such as the Fort Hood terrorist, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, with whom he exchanged emails, and the Tsarnaev brothers, who bombed the 2013 Boston marathon. Apparently, that sort of activity does not bother Facebook: The Daily Beast reportedly found the videos through simple searches in Arabic using only the names of the jihadists.

That Facebook appears to be "creatively" selective in how it chooses to follow its own rules is nothing new. As previously reported by Gatestone Institute, Ahmad Qadan in Sweden publicly raised funds for ISIS for two years. Facebook only deleted the posts after the Swedish Security Service (Säpo) approached Facebook. In November 2017, Ahmad was sentenced to six months in prison for using Facebook to collect money to fund weapons purchases for the ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra terror groups and for posting messages calling for "serious acts of violence primarily or disproportionately aimed at civilians with the intention of creating terror amongst the public."

In September 2018, Canadian media exposed that a Toronto terrorist leader, Zakaria Amara, while serving a life sentence for plotting Al Qaeda-inspired truck bombings in downtown Toronto, nevertheless had a Facebook page on which he posted prison photos and notes about what made him a terrorist. Only after Canadian media outlets contacted Facebook to ask about the account did Facebook delete Amara's account "for violating our community standards."

When will Facebook -- and YouTube -- make it a priority to remove material featuring the terrorist Awlaki, whose incitement has inspired actual terrorists to kill people?

Google “Machine Learning Fairness” Whistleblower Goes Public, says: “burden lifted off of my soul”

Quote BREAKING: Google Caught Burying Vaccine Safety Info

Is advocating for safer vaccines a “fringe” idea? Google’s algorithms seem to think so. In recently leaked documents, Google identified the search query “do vaccines cause autism” to be demoted/hidden using its algorithmic censorship methods.

    Project Veritas reports:

“(San Francisco, CA) A Google insider who anonymously leaked internal documents to Project Veritas made the decision to go public in an on-the-record video interview. The insider, Zachary Vorhies, decided to go public after receiving a letter from Google, and after he says Google allegedly called the police to perform a “wellness check” on him.”

Along with the interview, Vorhies asked Project Veritas to publish more of the internal Google documents he had previously leaked. Said Vorhies:

“I gave the documents to Project Veritas, I had been collecting the documents for over a year. And the reason why I collected these documents was because I saw something dark and nefarious going on with the company and I realized that there were going to not only tamper with the elections, but use that tampering with the elections to essentially overthrow the United States.”

Project Veritas reported that, “After having been identified by an anonymous account (which Vorhies believes belongs to a Google employee,) on social media as a “leaker,” Vorhies was approached by law enforcement at his residence in California. According to Vorhies, San Francisco police received a call from Google which prompted a “wellness check.”

Vorhies described the incident to Project Veritas:

“they got inside the gate, the police, and they started banging on my door… And so the police decided that they were going to call in additional forces. They called in the FBI, they called in the SWAT team. And they called in a bomb squad.”

“[T]his is a large way in which [Google tries to] intimidate their employees that go rogue on the company…”

“Partial video of the incident was provided to Project Veritas. San Francisco police confirmed to Project Veritas that they did receive a “mental health call,” and responded to Vorhies’ address that day.”

To date, Google has been publicly exposed for attempting to sway the 2020 U.S. election and its removal of certain news organizations from its rankings and searches. However, Google’s censorship efforts have also extended into the health and food information sectors. Investigations have shown Google’s ‘machine learning fairness’ and algorithmic discrimination to heavily favor industry talking points and actively defend Big Pharma and Big Ag products from open debate, justified scrutiny, and scientific facts that may cast products in an unsavory light.

Google’s manipulation doesn’t stop with the vaccine debate. Bayer AG has been involved in three high-profile cases, with over 18,000 more waiting in the wings, to defend their Roundup herbicide from litigation claiming it caused cancer. During the course of all three trials and up to present day, Google’s autocomplete results are purposely hindering the public from finding truths about Roundup. Looking at the data and facts, one could deduce that Google is siding with Bayer AG to actively steer online traffic away from connections between Roundup, cancer and information about Bayer’s lawsuits.

When typing in the words “Roundup” into Google search engine, their autosuggest option returns “Roundup for lawns” as the top suggestion.

When referencing another Google product, Google Trends, you can see there are more people who are looking for information on both “roundup cancer” and “roundup lawsuit” compared to “roundup for lawns.”

In the era of ‘fake news’, how far will Google’s effort run to hide the facts about vaccine safety, from a world starving for the truth.

Google now taking sides on key issues like medicine, cancer, vaccines, GMOs, climate change and more, and working to obliterate all views that Google doesn’t endorse

    by: Ethan Huff
    Wednesday, August 14, 2019

(Natural News) With the most recent Google “Core” update, which took place in June, substantial changes were made to the search results that users pull up when querying topics like vaccine safety, genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), cancer, pharmaceuticals, and climate change – with Google, as you probably well know, now actively censoring independent viewpoints that run contrary to the controlled narrative on these and other controversial issues.

Quite obviously veering from its “don’t be evil” motto of old, Google has decided to now be only evil by willfully manipulating the information that the world is allowed to access through its platform. Rather than encourage free thought and open debate, in other words, Google wants you and everyone else to simply accept what the government and media claim is true about medicine, food, and weather patterns.

While it was once the case that Google fomented an internet culture of freedom and honest expression, its new fascist policies aim to ensure that everyone thinks exactly the same as everyone else about concepts like “herd immunity” and “science-based medicine.” There’s simply no room for independent thought when it comes to such topics, at least according to Google’s new “thought police,” which are working overtime to make sure that internet users are only able to access pre-approved propaganda.

What this has led to is the systematic removal of websites, pages, and channels that take what you might call an “alternative” approach to accessing and processing news and other information. Natural News, for instance, was recently de-platformed not only by Google, but also by Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, the latter of which is owned by Google.

“Websites [that] promote or provide a platform for critical perspectives of vaccine safety, questioning the lack of safety studies or vaccine efficacy, found that Google has unilaterally removed the search traffic they once enjoyed, without engaging in any debate or providing any notice, or any explanation!” explains GreenMedInfo.

Rather than censor politically incorrect information, why doesn’t Google fund the science necessary to end the vaccine debate once and for all?

Google has been trying extra hard to whitewash this digital “book-burning” by claiming that it’s necessary to “save lives” and prevent users from accessing “misinformation” that might harm them. With vaccines, as perhaps the most prominent example, Google doesn’t want anyone to question either their safety nor effectiveness, because any honest inquiry outside of Big Pharma’s own “studies” and claims allegedly puts public health at risk.

“Are mottos like ‘don’t be evil’ or ‘make the world better’ compatible with unilaterally and secretly deciding what specific information is made available to the public by removing honest disagreements and controversial sources of information (claimed to be misinformation), while quietly choosing which narrative will prevail?” asks GreenMedInfo about how Google is somehow trying to justify this tyranny.

This would seem to be the first time in Google’s history that the company has taken a side with regards to information, as opposed to simply providing the information that people want, no questions asked. Since the multinational corporation has clearly changed course, and is now acting as a content publisher rather than a content provider, it’s more than time for this Silicon Valley conglomerate to be held accountable for breaking antitrust laws, among other crimes.

“Because it has not been proven scientifically that there are no extra risks (with vaccines), the only way to settle this debate is to do the science, not [compel] large tech companies to do the bidding of the vaccine companies,” GreenMedInfo contends.

“This cannot bode well for their reputation which is already on shaky ground, especially if in the future, scientific studies end up proving the risks are higher than currently accepted.”

He sent me an update to post on his website's status, and a correction to what I had already posted.

No such connections will happen this time, for Jon Rappoport will not find this thread with a Web search.

It's not just Google. For various reasons, no search engine that I can find so far has found these posts of the last day on this thread about Jon Rappoport.
I follow Miles Mathis also, and he has not had an update since July 1. Wondering if anyone knows what has happened with him?

WaPo Warns USA Needs More Narrative Control As Pentagon Ramps Up Narrative Control

https://caitlinjohnstone.com/2019/09...ative-control/WaPo Warns USA Needs More Narrative Control As Pentagon Ramps Up Narrative Control

    by Caitlin Johnstone

Do you lay awake at night terrified that the Russians are able to control your mind with information warfare while the US government's slavish devotion to democratic values leaves it powerless to stop them? Me neither. But according to The Washington Post, whose sole owner is a CIA contractor and Pentagon board member bent on hijacking the underlying infrastructure of the economy, we should be.

WaPo columnist David Ignatius, who has been one of the more hyperbolic promulgators of western Russia hysteria in written media, has published an article titled "Why America is losing the information war to Russia" about a new book by former State Department undersecretary for public diplomacy Richard Engel. Engel and Ignatius engage in a joyful Red Scare frolic with the exuberance of two little boys with a box of spray paints, each trying to one-up the other in hysterical apocalyptic ominousness about the way evil, authoritarian governments like Russia have been able to weaponize information while freedom-loving democracies can only look on in passive despair.

Quote "The cruel paradox of the Internet, once hailed as a liberating force, is that it empowers governments that control information and enfeebles those that let it run free," warns Ignatius.

"[Authoritarian governments] have gone from fearing the flow of information to exploiting it," cautions Engel. "They understand that the same tools that spread democracy can engineer its undoing.”
Unsurprisingly, at no point during this brotherly romp does Ignatius bother to make mention of the fact that Engel is actually on record saying he supports the use of propaganda and believes the US government should be using it on its own citizens.

Quote "Basically, every country creates their own narrative story and, you know, my old job at the State Department was what people used to joke as the ‘chief propagandist’ job," Engel said last year at an event organized by the shockingly ubiquitous narrative management firm Council on Foreign Relations.

"I’m not against propaganda," Engel said. "Every country does it, and they have to do it to their own population, and I don’t necessarily think it’s that awful."
When an audience member objected to what he'd just heard, Engel curtly dismissed him and ended the talk.

So anyway, that's what the CIA/Pentagon/plutocracy-tied Washington Post wants you to be sure of: that evil governments are controlling your mind with information warfare, and that the US government is struggling to rescue you from that fate. Lucky for you, this report just so happens to be coming out at the same time as we're learning that the Pentagon is already currently working on a program to protect you from wrongthink by controlling your access to information.

Quote Congratulations to "online disinformation" alarmists who gave implicit approval to this new Pentagon initiative to "detect malicious intent and prevent viral fake news from polarizing society" https://t.co/LDQcNld55y

    — Michael Tracey (@mtracey) September 3, 2019
A recent Bloomberg article titled "U.S. Unleashes Military to Fight Fake News, Disinformation" reports that the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is funding a new project called the Semantic Forensics program with which "the military research agency hopes it can spot fake news with malicious intent before going viral."

Quote "If successful, the system after four years of trials may expand to detect malicious intent and prevent viral fake news from polarizing society," Bloomberg reports.
DARPA (formerly ARPA) is a top contender among some very stiff competition for the absolute creepiest of all US government agencies. Journalist Yasha Levine has done a lot of work documenting the way the agency has been intimately involved in internet surveillance since before the internet was even really a thing, beginning in the 1960s with its ARPANET program whose technologies went on to form the foundation of the World Wide Web. DARPA is also engaged in such charming activities as exploring ways to knit AI into human neurology, funding programs to control America's election infrastructure, pouring billions of dollars into the creation of a robot army and constructing robotic insects which can crawl up walls.

Futurists have long envisioned a utopia where mankind reaps the benefits of soaring technological innovations which will overcome our every obstacle and lead us to an unprecedented state of human thriving. What they failed to account for was sociopathic government agencies like DARPA being intimately involved in those technologies from the very beginning.

Quote Let’s please ban the word “narrative” from our discussion of the news and this president. There is only one version of the facts and the truth. Full stop.

    — Jim Sciutto (@jimsciutto) August 26, 2019
Power is being able to control what happens. Absolute power is being able to control what people think about what happens. If you can control what happens, you can have power until the public gets sick of your bull**** and tosses you out on your ass. If you can control what people think about what happens, you can have power forever. As long as you can control how people are interpreting circumstances and events, there's no limit to the evils you can get away with.

Whoever controls the narrative controls the world. Governments understand this and so do their propagandists, and so, increasingly, do the rank-and-file public. Which is why you've now got establishment narrative managers like CNN's Jim Sciutto saying things like "Let’s please ban the word 'narrative' from our discussion of the news and this president. There is only one version of the facts and the truth." Mass media propagandists would like nothing better than to have people cease paying attention to the concept of narrative and go back to believing that when they turn on CNN they are receiving objective truth from the authoritative arbiters of absolute reality.

But that cat's out of the bag. What has been seen cannot be unseen. A large number of people are aware that there are some very powerful forces who have a vested interest in controlling the thoughts that are in their head, and that number is growing every day. These powerful forces have responded to this new development by becoming increasingly ham-fisted in regulating the public's access to ideas and information, and now it's a race to see if they can slam the gates on us before we escape our cage forever.

Have You Noticed How Social Media Purges Always Align With The US Empire?

    by Caitlin Johnstone

Twitter has suspended multiple large Cuban media accounts for reasons the social media platform has yet to justify as of this writing, a move which journalist Dan Cohen has described as "the equivalent of silencing CNN, Fox, WaPo and NPR’s accounts" for that nation. The Union of Cuban Journalists has denounced the move as censorship.

Last month we saw Twitter suspend hundreds of accounts which it claims originated in mainland China for engaging in "covert, manipulative behaviors" against the Hong Kong protests, with Facebook and Google/YouTube following suit in the creepy, uniform coordination we've come to expect between these social media giants. In June of this year Twitter removed thousands of accounts it claims were associated with the governments of Iran, Russia and Venezuela, as well as 130 accounts reportedly tied to the Catalan independence movement in Spain. In May Twitter removed 2,800 of what it claimed were "inauthentic accounts originating in Iran." Earlier this year, Twitter and Facebook coordinated with each other to remove hundreds of accounts they claim were tied to "coordinated influence operations" in Iran, Russia, and Venezuela.

Cuba, China, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, and the Catalan independence movement. Noticing a pattern here?

Quote Twitter just suspended the accounts of the biggest media outlets in Cuba and has given no reason. This is the equivalent of silencing CNN, Fox, WaPo and NPR’s accounts, but Cuba is a target of the empire so these arbitrary suspensions don’t generate outrage. https://t.co/0fgEiX8bjL

    — Dan Cohen (@dancohen3000) September 12, 2019
If you've been paying any attention at all to the dynamics of empire, you will immediately recognize all of these purges as having targeted groups which are not aligned with the US-centralized power alliance. There have been no comparable mass social media purges of groups that are aligned with the US-centralized empire; a few accounts critical of Beijing were accidentally suspended from Twitter in June and replaced with a hasty apology, and a few Saudi bots were removed for defaming Jamal Khashoggi after his death, but that's as close as you'll find to any non-empire-aligned purge.

"But Caitlin!", you may protest. "That's because the US and its allies are free democracies which never engage in propaganda or coordinated influence operations. Those other governments that got their accounts purged are evil authoritarian regimes whose dishonest manipulations must be curtailed!"

And to you my hypothetical friend I say bull boogers. I can prove to you that propaganda and coordinated influence operations are at least as prevalent in the so-called free democracies of the western empire as they are in the so-called authoritarian regimes of unabsorbed nations, and I can do it without even looking up from the story I'm already reporting on.

Quote Cuba denounces suspension of multiple official media Twitter accounts during a live TV address by President Diaz-Canel https://t.co/ktBMrfXZTJ

    — AFP news agency (@AFP) September 12, 2019
See that hyperlink I put at the beginning of this essay when I first told you about the suspended Cuban media accounts? It links to an article that as of this writing is the only report in written English-language media on that story. The archived link says it's from Yahoo News, but that's actually just the outlet that picked it up; the story itself was from the news agency AFP, which is one of the mere three news agencies that are responsible for most of the news media reports in the western world.

This very AFP report claims that "Cuba is regularly criticized by watchdogs for exerting excessive control over the internet," citing to substantiate this claim an organization called Freedom House, which the report describes only as "New York-based". Freedom House, which self-brands as an "independent watchdog organization", is in reality a narrative management firm that is funded by powerful plutocrats and has the bulk of projects paid for by the National Endowment for Democracy. The National Endowment for Democracy is funded directly by the US government, and was set up in 1983 to do overtly what the CIA had been doing covertly up until that point, namely effecting regime change in sovereign nations.

So to recap, the narrative management operation which calls itself a "watchdog" claimed that "watchdogs" criticize Cuba for internet censorship, and that "watchdog" organization is in fact funded by the US government, yet the news agency disclosed only that their source is "New York-based". In an article about internet censorship.

To put it another way, one of only three news agencies responsible for generating most western news media asked a US government-funded PR firm that was specifically created to make news-friendly propaganda which literally meddles in other countries' governments to validate the claim that the news of a country that they target conducts propaganda, while omitting the fact that it is a propaganda organization.

This is Inception-level propaganda. This article, the only one available as of this writing to anyone who is interested in Twitter's censorship of Cuban media outlets, is infinitely recursive, fractal, nesting doll-level propaganda, a pure coordinated influence operation, from top to bottom. And yet all the parties known to have been involved in crafting this piece of propaganda still have their Twitter accounts up, from Yahoo News, to AFP, to Freedom House, to the National Endowment for Democracy. Because the free democracies of the west do not engage in propaganda.

Again, that's just literally the first example I reached for because of the story I happen to be writing about here. It's one of endless possible examples, because it's happening constantly.

Quote We need to stop pretending FB & Twitter aren't arms of the US state. For over a year they've deleted accounts of Iranians, Venezuelans, Russians, & Chinese simply for daring to voice opinions different from the imperialist narrative, under the aegis of combating "disinformation." pic.twitter.com/bML58Ufpe0

    — Morgan Artyukhina (@LavenderNRed) August 20, 2019
Whenever I criticize these Silicon Valley tech giants for de-platforming voices which dissent from establishment narratives, I always get a deluge of pushback from establishment loyalists and capitalism cultists who insist that Twitter, Facebook and Google are private organizations who are free to do as they like with their personal property, and, since they are not government bodies, what they are doing cannot strictly be labeled censorship. But we see time and time again that their behavior absolutely does fall in line with the agendas of the CIA and the US State Department, and continually discover more and more evidence of extensive overlap between these corporations and government power.

"And these big tech giants… have basically gotten into bed with the US state," journalist Alan MacLeod recently told The Canary's Slava Zilber. "I mean, we’ve seen Facebook partnering with the Atlantic Council, which is an offshoot of NATO, whose board includes people like Henry Kissinger, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, and six or seven different former or current heads of the CIA. That’s the group that’s deciding what is ‘fake news’ and what is ‘real news’, and how the algorithms that dictate how billions of people around the world are going to see news. That’s who’s deciding what you see and what you don’t."

Journalist Morgan Artyukhina noted this past May that FireEye, the very cybersecurity firm that Facebook and Twitter are relying upon to determine which accounts are inauthentic and require removal, was in fact "founded in 2004 with money from the CIA's venture capital arm, In-Q-Tel." As noted in 2016 by journalist Yasha Levine, FireEye itself feeds into anti-Russia narratives while simultaneously funding neoconservative narrative management firms which are hawkish toward Russia. As Sputnik noted last year, FireEye also happens to be "one of the few cyber firms to forensically analyze the alleged hack of the Democratic National Committee."

"We need to stop pretending FB and Twitter aren't arms of the US state," Artyukhina said in a popular Twitter thread last month after another purge. "For over a year they've deleted accounts of Iranians, Venezuelans, Russians, and Chinese simply for daring to voice opinions different from the imperialist narrative, under the aegis of combating 'disinformation'."

"These reports often claim the accounts were 'used to promote content from inauthentic news sites,' but that simply refers to outlets like PressTV and TeleSUR, which don't toe the Western MSM line," Artyukhina added. "As always, it's only propaganda when somebody else does it."

"Inevitably, when the US targets a country for standing up to it, we're bombarded with stories of evil deeds to justify US action against them," Artyukhina continued. "This is not propaganda, to them, it's simply 'facts.' However, try to counteract the massive MSM infowar - that's disinformation."

In a corporatist system of government, which has no meaningful separation between corporate power and state power, corporate censorship is government censorship. There are manifold distortions that have been put in place to mask the reality that the same power structures which control the US government are also dictating the behaviors of the handful of social media platforms upon which the public has become dependent for networking and gathering information about what's going on in the world, but that is indeed the reality and we do indeed need to regard it as such.

Just because there are no official connections between these corporations and the government doesn't mean we have to make believe we can't see actual connections right there in front of our faces, plain as day. There is no legitimate reason to go on pretending that these plutocratic Silicon Valley institutions are meaningfully separate from the US government. The only way to keep that illusion in place would be to continue swallowing all the lies that the propagandists have been shoving down our throats.
