Lightbulb X-Files to return ? Yes

The X-Files. Soon to return.. ?

Fox is close to giving an official green-light to a revival of their iconic science fiction series, which originally aired between 1993 and 2002.

Inside sources are saying, the network has settled on a “short-stack” order for the revival and while the exact size of the order is yet-to-be-determined, it will be less than ten episodes ..

The revival of the series is aimed to close out the lingering story-lines left by the series proper, which, much to the dismay of fans, were left unresolved by the second feature film I Want To Believe.

That having been said might be interesting to see how the X-files ends.

Got all messy there in the end and the Lone Gunmen spin-off ended badly (IMO).

    What is the X-Files ?

A series made for Television, and went to the Big Screen.

    Theme:

FBI special agents investigate unexplained cases known as "X-Files."

Though the government is convinced that the outlandish reports are false, conspiracy theorist Fox Mulder and realist Dana Scully, for most of the series, stop at nothing to prove that "the truth is out there."

It started in September 10, 1993 and the series completed in May 19, 2002. It was highly popular, and fueled "conspiracy theorists" for years and years.

Mulder is a believer in the paranormal, and the skeptical Scully is assigned to make scientific analyses of Mulder's discoveries which could ultimately be used to discredit his work. Throughout the series the two develop a close friendship.

Chris Carter served as the original executive producer:

    R. W. Goodwin, Frank Spotnitz, Howard Gordon, Vince Gilligan, John Shiban, Kim Manners, Glen Morgan, James Wong, and many others were also involved in the production.

Season 4 Episode 12 first aired on January 26, 1997 and had a viewer number of 29.15 million. Titled: "Leonard Betts"
Season 5 Episode 1 first aired on November 2, 1997. It had a viewer number of 27.34 million. Titled: "Redux"

The pilot had an audience viewing of about 12 million.

The pilot introduced the two main characters, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully who were portrayed by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson respectively.

The episode also featured William B. Davis, Charles Cioffi and Zachary Ansley as the recurring characters of the Smoking Man, Scott Blevins and Billy Miles.

The Smoking Man would go on to become the series' signature antagonist, appearing in every season except the eighth.

William B. Davis - the "smoking man"

The episode follows FBI Special Agents Mulder and Scully on their first X-File case together, investigating a string of deaths which Mulder believes to be alien experiments.

Final episode date: May 19, 2002

    Conspiracy of conspiracies..

    REDUX - (part 1)

In Canada's St. Elias Mountains, a frozen extraterrestrial body is discovered by an expedition team. Professor Arlinsky, the team's leader, sends ice core samples containing presumably alien DNA to Fox Mulder.

Both Mulder and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) eventually meet Michael Kritschgau (John Finn), a Defense Department employee who claims that everything Mulder thinks he knows about aliens is a lie.

Kritschgau tells Mulder that his sister Samantha Mulder's abduction was fabricated, that all evidence of alien biology are merely scientific anomalies, and that the alien body discovered in Canada was fake.

Kritschgau claims that the entire alien mythos is a hoax perpetrated by the U.S. government as a cover for the military–industrial complex.

Distraught by Kritschgau's claims, Mulder loses his faith. Later, the FBI investigates Mulder's apparent suicide. Scully confirms the unseen body's identity.

    --------------------------------

As a distraught Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) sits in his apartment, he receives a phone call from Kritschgau, who tells him that "they" may be listening. Mulder, spotting a small hole in his ceiling, rushes upstairs and bursts into the apartment above his and kills government employee Scott Ostelhoff.

He tells Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) about the incident, telling her that Ostelhoff had made numerous calls to the FBI.

The FBI looks into the situation and finds Ostelhoff's body; however, they believe it is the body of a suicidal Mulder.

The next day Scully identifies Ostelhoff's body as Mulder and is met by assistant director Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) who tells her that Section Chief Scott Blevins (Charles Cioffi) is looking for her.

She meets with them, and tells them about the previous incidents leading to Mulder's apparent suicide.

Meanwhile Mulder has broken into the Department of Defense.

While Mulder is gone, The Smoking Man (William B. Davis) searches Mulder's apartment, believing he is not dead.

Scully does some research into the phone records, coming to the conclusion that Ostelhoff was calling Skinner.

Mulder meanwhile continues through the Department of Defense Headquarters finding more fake alien bodies inside.

He heads through a tunnel to The Pentagon, where he finds an elaborate filing system and warehouse of evidence, the same warehouse that The Smoking Man was seen leaving at the very end of "Pilot".

Mulder ultimately tracks down a small metal vial that he believes may contain Scully's cure.

Scully debriefs the FBI panel and explains that Mulder was a victim of an elaborate conspiracy and that she was given a fatal disease by someone in the room. As she is about to present her evidence, her nose bleeds and she collapses.

after project Camelot , Avalon and others and even Hollywood
is more or less up to date with the alternate scene and visa versa.

Though I would still watch it...LOL

Yes! When I first heard of the revival, I hoped that that would be the reason. I was so broken to find out the 2nd movie didn't follow the main theme - I couldn't even bring myself to watch it. so good to hear they want to follow up with the main conspiracy story.

Scully is down, suffering from the "disease"

    REDUX - (part 2)

After hearing of Scully collapsing, Mulder arrives at the hospital where Scully is being treated.

Before he is able to make contact with her, he is detained by Skinner and two FBI agents.

Mulder is then brought to Blevins and a senior agent who demands information on why Scully lied about Mulder's death.

After the meeting, Mulder tells Skinner that a traitor in the FBI gave Scully her cancer.

In the meantime, The Smoking Man has a meeting with the First Elder (Don S. Williams), trying to convince him that Mulder will join their side if he is given a good reason to do so.

Mulder later tells Scully that he wants to reveal the conspiracy to the public. As he is leaving, he meets with The Smoking Man who tells him that he can cure Scully's cancer by using a chip included in the vial Mulder took from the Pentagon.

Meanwhile, Kritschgau goes before the FBI panel, denying any knowledge of Ostelhoff's murderer, also revealing that his son died that morning. Kritschgau claims to work for not only the Department of Defense but also a congressional lobbying firm known as Roush.

Mulder sees Scully and her doctor about the chip. Scully's family is skeptical, particularly her brother Bill, who is quite upset with Mulder. Scully decides to go ahead and have the chip inserted in her neck.

The Smoking Man contacts Mulder, arranging a meeting at a nearby diner.

There Mulder meets his sister Samantha, who calls The Smoking Man her father.

Samantha claims to not remember anything about her abduction and is reluctant to stay or tell Mulder where he can find her.

The next day, The Smoking Man offers Mulder the truth if he quits the FBI and comes work for him; Mulder refuses.

Mulder later meets with Blevins, who now has evidence Skinner was withholding information concerning Ostelhoff's death. Blevins tells Mulder he can help him if he names Skinner as the traitor in the FBI. Later, Mulder meets with Scully, telling her he was going to make the deal with The Smoking Man but now will not after his meeting with Blevins. Despite Scully's pleas, he refuses to name Skinner as the traitor in the FBI.

Mulder meets with the FBI panel while "Quiet Willy" follows The Smoking Man with a long barrel revolver, equipped with silencer, telescopic sight and targeting laser.

Mulder tells the panel of the conspiracy against him and Scully.

Questioned by Blevins and the senior agent about whether he killed Ostelhoff, Mulder instead names Blevins as the traitor in the FBI.

The Smoking Man, looking at a picture of a young Mulder and Samantha, is shot by "Quiet Willy".

Blevins is killed by the senior agent in his office, who makes it appear like a suicide.

At the hospital, Skinner meets with Mulder, telling him that The Smoking Man is dead, although his body was not found.

Mulder admits that he guessed when he named Blevins, who Skinner reveals was on the payroll for Roush.

Mulder tells Skinner that Scully's cancer has gone into remission.

    the Unusual Suspects -

    Who could forget these 3..

The episode opens in medias res in 1989, when a SWAT team conducts a raid on a Baltimore warehouse.

Inside, they find a naked and disoriented Fox Mulder in a box, shouting, "They're here!" Three men attempt to flee the scene and are captured; they are revealed to be the Lone Gunmen.

As they sit in a city jail, they begin blaming each other for the predicament they have found themselves in.

Detective John Munch interrogates John Fitzgerald Byers, who tries to explain what happened.

In the flashback, Byers, a public affairs officer for the FCC, attends a computer and electronics convention. There, he follows a beautiful woman who passes his booth; he also passes by booths manned by Melvin Frohike and Richard Langly, who were both selling stolen cable television.

Byers bumps into the woman, she introduces herself as Holly and claims that her daughter had been kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend, who is in the Baltimore area.

Holly possesses a piece of paper with "ARPANET/WHTCORPS" written on it. Byers realizes that the words refer to the Defense Department's computer network, which she requests he hack into. Byers, at the time an unquestioningly loyal government employee, complies after great reluctance. He finds an encrypted file on her daughter, named Susanne Modeski. Just then, a man whom Holly claims to be her boyfriend passes by Byers' booth—Mulder.

Byers and Holly recruit Frohike to help them decipher the file. Both Byers and Frohike decide to assault Mulder, but they don't do it when he introduces himself as an FBI agent. Returning to his booth, Byers finds his FCC colleague being arrested for the hacking he committed. Frohike convinces Byers not to turn himself in, and recruits Langly to help them hack into the FBI database to learn more about Holly. They discover that "Holly" is actually Susanne Modeski, who is wanted for acts of murder, sabotage, and terrorism at a weapons facility in New Mexico.

Susanne admits her deception but claims that she was scapegoated for trying to leave her job at the weapons facility. There, she had been working on ergotamine, an aerosolized gas that causes paranoia and anxiety. Susanne claims that the government plans to test the gas on civilians in Baltimore.

After deciphering the file, the Lone Gunmen find that she was telling the truth, learning the location of the gas. Susanne also finds evidence that she had a tracking device put in a tooth, which she pulls out.

The four of them head to the warehouse, where they found the gas stored inside asthma inhalers.

Suddenly, Mulder arrives to arrest them, but two dark-suited men came to take Susanne. They fire at Mulder, hitting the boxes behind him and exposing him to the gas. The exposure causes Mulder to strip naked, hide in the box, and hallucinate about seeing aliens in the warehouse. Susanne shoots the men and escapes.

More men then arrive, led by X, who intimidates the Lone Gunmen. Byers confronts X, asking him about his actions and mentioning the supposed cover-up of the John F. Kennedy assassination. X's unconvincing denial—"I heard it was a lone gunman"—becomes the origin of the trio's name. X leaves, just as the police arrive and arrest the Lone Gunmen.

In the present, Detective Munch does not believe Byers' story, but it is soon corroborated by Mulder. After the Lone Gunmen are released, they encounter Susanne after she has failed to get the press to believe her story; she tells them to reveal the truth to as many people as possible. Susanne is then captured by X, who leers at the Lone Gunmen as he departs with her. Later, the three of them meet Mulder in the convention center and explain what happened to him.

    Monica Reyes -

FBI Special Agent Monica Julieta Reyes /ˈreɪ.ɛz/ is a fictional character in Fox's science fiction-supernatural television series The X-Files. Monica Reyes is portrayed by Annabeth Gish.

A Special Agent with the FBI, she works with her longtime friend and partner John Doggett in the X-Files office, which is concerned with the investigation of paranormal cases, dubbed "X-Files". Introduced in the series' eighth season, Reyes would become a main character throughout the entirety of its ninth and final season, last appearing in the finale, "The Truth".

Monica Reyes was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, and speaks fluent Spanish.

She studied folklore and mythology at Brown University, and has a Master's degree in Religious Studies.

In 1990, Reyes enrolled in the Federal Bureau of Investigation at Quantico, Virginia. Her first assignment in the FBI was serving on a special taskforce investigating Satanic ritual abuse.

Reyes then served in the New York City field office, where she became romantically involved with special agent Brad Follmer despite the FBI's strict anti-fraternization rules. Reyes was the head investigator in the kidnapping of 7 year-old Luke Doggett, son of then NYPD officer John Doggett.

The boy was eventually found dead, but no suspect was ever apprehended.

In 1999, Monica Reyes transferred to the New Orleans field office.

In 2001, Reyes was contacted by Doggett, now an FBI agent assigned to X-Files department, to assist in on a case involving the disappearances of several individuals who claimed to be alien abductees, as well as the disappearance of fellow agent Fox Mulder.

Because of her background, Reyes considered that these believers may have simply formed a cult, but did not rule out the possibility of alien intervention. She stayed with the case until after Mulder was returned by his abductors, but returned to her field office soon after.

She later contacted Mulder, who was back to full health at the time, seeking help on a case she suspected had some link to the murder of Doggett's son.

However, as before, she soon returned to her own work.

Reyes remained with the New Orleans field office until she was called upon to protect agent Dana Scully in May 2001, driving her out to a remote location in Georgia so that the pregnant Scully might deliver her child out of harm's way. Reyes helped deliver the child, and made a permanent move soon afterwards, becoming Doggett's partner on The X-Files.

Doggett and Reyes were last seen in the New Mexico desert in 2002, where they were warning Agents Mulder and Scully of the arrival of Knowle Rohrer, a Super Soldier linked to the alien colonists.

They were fleeing the scene as black helicopters destroyed the Anazasi adobes where The Smoking Man had been living.

So they will browse through the Camelot & Avalon archives , copy bunch of 'good stories' , replace the characters .. move the watches and with todays digital technologies and use of global AI we can see the launch ... in 2022 .

In the meantime .. they'll be obsolete and we will have 'better stories' .

Oh no, what about holographic , 3D projections of Mulder and the Smoky Man in your living room,
attend the MJ12 meeting , intergalactic conference ..take virtual flight to the centre of galaxy and close the wormhole .

    who are The Elders

The Syndicate is a "shadow government" group; They were also known as The Elders, The Consortium, and The Group.

Because of their presiding over the cover-up of extraterrestrial life, they were the main force opposing the X-Files investigators, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

An embodiment of the concept of the "shadow government" in conspiracy theory lore, the Syndicate is composed of covertly allied influential government officials and businessmen.

The Syndicate, operating at the highest levels of power, concealed from the world a program by an unidentified extraterrestrial species to colonize and repopulate the planet, as well as their own plans and stake in that future, which they held to be inevitable.

To carry out murder, cover-ups, sabotage and other wetworks projects, the Syndicate used an unknown number of henchmen commonly referred to as the Men in Black.

The Men in Black were merciless protectors of the conspiracy whose true names, like the members of the Syndicate, were rarely if ever known.

Many worked ostensibly for the U.S. Defense Department, Central Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, along with various other government agencies. Prominent Men in Black agents included X, Alex Krycek, the Crew Cut Man, and Quiet Willy.

    In the Beginning

The Syndicate was formed at the end of World War II, after the Roswell incident, when German scientists were brought to the United States to work on developing an alien-human hybrid.

Alvin Kurtzweil recounted that when he and Bill Mulder were young men in the military, they were recruited for a project that they were told was concerned with biological warfare.

Deep Throat claimed that it began after Roswell, when an ultrasecret conference of power brokers in the United States, the Soviet Union, United Kingdom, China, France, West Germany, and East Germany, signed a treaty that if an alien spacecraft crashed on Earth and the extraterrestrials survived, the country that held them would be responsible for their immediate extermination.

The group that would become the Syndicate existed as early as 1952 as a secret group within the Department of State. Their activities included experimenting with xenotransplantation, relocating ex-Nazi scientists to the United States after WWII, and covering up the black oil discovered in the Piper Maru in 1953.

The colonists in 1973 when they forged their alliance with the Syndicate

The members of the secretive group within the State Department officially broke off ties with the United States government in 1973. However, some of the members continued to work within the State Department.

On October 13, the Syndicate formally forged their alliance with the alien colonists at El Rico Air Force Base.

The Cigarette Smoking Man personally presented a folded American flag to the aliens, symbolizing their surrender to a superior intergalactic force.

The Syndicate was also commencing their work on the Project, which would see an immense effort in creating an alien/human hybrid to serve the aliens as a slave race after colonization.

    -------------------------------------------

In 1998, the Syndicate learned of a rebel faction among the aliens that was fighting against their brethren and the colonization of Earth. The first incident of rebel violence on Earth occurred in Kazakhstan, where dozens of impending abductees were found incinerated.

Marita Covarrubias investigated the incident and quickly had it covered up. Shortly thereafter, many more abductees were summoned to Skyland Mountain via their metallic tags. Again, the group was attacked and incinerated by the alien rebels.

It was at this time that the rebels were more clearly identified as being faceless—with their facial orifices sewn shut to prevent black oil infection—a telltale characteristic that set them apart as the rebel force.

The following year, the rebels made their most daring—and most destructive—move. Outside of Washington, D.C., they attacked a train car, wherein a group of Syndicate doctors led by Eugene Openshaw were experimenting on Cassandra Spender—the first successful alien-human hybrid.

The rebels incinerated the doctors, but left Cassandra alive so that the Project would be revealed and subsequently destroyed. Indeed, one of the rebels killed the Second Elder and assumed his position at meetings of the Syndicate; however, the Cigarette Smoking Man realized this and had the group cease meeting together.

The Smoking Man contacted his son, Jeffrey Spender, and charged him with killing the rebel posing as the Second Elder.

However, Spender fails, and Alex Krycek successfully completes the assassination.

Spender then realizes the scope of the conspiracy being carried out by his father, and he pledges his support to Fox Mulder. Having their hand forced by the rebels, the Syndicate retrieved Cassandra Spender and prepared to present her to the aliens so that colonization could begin. However, the rebels instead appear and incinerate the entire group of high-ranking Syndicate members, meaning the destruction of the Syndicate.
