    Grimes/Ahriman/Death Before Dying

Grimes (mother of Musk's children) has a new movie coming out entitled "Ahriman/Death Before Dying".
More about that starting at 47 minutes in Dark Journalist's latest episode Special Report: X Ahriman Elon UFO File 2024
DJ has some very interesting insights into Musk that you won't find elsewhere, and all the dots he connects in this entire episode also relate to Musk.

I think you may both be missing the original intention of this thread. There have been a few posts recently that didn't really belong so I'm requesting it stops before the thread spirals out of control. It is fine if no-one posts anything for a year, that is how rare the films that genuinely lift us are.

The first one belongs in an Elon Musk thread of which there are many, the second belongs in some Hollywood 'same story, different script' thread - I don't think there is one of those.

    Thank you.
Ewan, I wish you would reconsider. I think your gentle reminder of the intention of the thread will be enough. I know I am guilty of sometimes placing info in a thread that approximates the information and it is something I need to be more aware of. This is a wonderful thread and you absolutely have the right to do whatever you want with it. I know I have personally gained so much from the suggestions here, of films I never would have known about. Would you consider removing the posts that do not fit the goal? I respect whatever your decision is. Thank you for hosting this most wonderful thread!!!!!

I have always found it so interesting that 2 people can watch a movie and one can receive a profound spiritual message from it and another can watch it and be bored to tears. Yours is a wonderful description of that, Vicus.
    Agree wholeheartedly, Pam .
There are a number of films which have touched me, some obviously meaningful, and others which may seem a little lightweight, but they struck deeper contemplation in me because of personal experiences. Here's a list of a few of my favourites, but just a clip of the first, which I never tire of watching:

    1. The Green Mile (1999)
    2. Hearts & Souls (1993)
    3. Mr Love (1986)
    4. Muriel's Wedding (1994)
    5. Born Free (1996)
And there are so many more . . .

I posted the video from Dark Journalist in this thread (as well as one about Musk) because I doubt anyone else has covered the new movie from the angle that DJ did, and because it is certain to be a "thought provoking" film for people like those who follow this forum.
Whether it will be inspiring or not remains to be seen, but you did use the term "thought provoking" in the title of the thread, so I didn't think it would be inappropriate here.
Perhaps we need a new, separate thread for films that are not necessarily inspiring, but are thought provoking.

    ANOTHER EARTH

This film hit all boxes from this Thread...

I posted already twice, but it was in wrong places, I dint knew this one...
At best is to say nothing about the plot, then hit you harder!
Maybe a little bit; it is about redemption...I "know" you go to like it: Ewan, Pam, Raskolnikov. and maybe a few others...

No doubt it is thought provoking in a political/current affairs sort of way, but this thread was about spiritual/bigger picture type of thought provoking, film's that can leave you with a sense of wonder about the world around us, or allowing us to see the good in surprising ways.

As this little exchange shows, the thread title could have been more specific. My apologies.

Another favourite is Life of Pi, a gem of a film, full of spiritual symbolism and well worth a watch. Here are two spectacular clips which are even better viewed on the Big Screen:

With respect to all in this thread, and even though it was the basic Hollywood formula flick, I loved this movie and found it very thought-provoking, especially the supernatural manipulators that could travel between worlds and prevent civilizations from discovering breakthrough technologies. It resembled what appears to be taking place in our world as the powers that be capitalize on the base emotions of our politicians and leaders in order to control them to do their bidding, which appears to be the devolution and destruction of worlds.

    Argentina, 1985

This film is a historical legal drama film. The film follows the Trial of the Juntas, the 1985 trial of members of the military government that ruled Argentina under the dictatorship of the National Reorganization Process, during which the torture, extrajudicial murder and forced disappearances of civilians was a systematic occurrence; it focuses on the perspective of the prosecution team led by Julio César Strassera and Luis Moreno Ocampo, including their investigation prior to the trial.

No Holiwierd film, no explosions, no guns, no deaths...

Co-produced by Argentina, the United Kingdom and the United States, Argentina, 1985 premiered in the main competition at the 79th Venice International Film Festival on 3 September 2022, where it won the FIPRESCI Award from the International Federation of Film Critics. Theatrically released in Argentina on 29 September 2022, and in the United Kingdom and United States on 21 October 2022, it was a commercial success, debuting at number one at the Argentine box office and becoming the most-watched Argentine film of 2022. It received critical acclaim, and won, among others, the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film, the Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film and the National Board of Review Freedom of Expression Award. It was also named one of the top five international films of 2022 by the National Board of Review and received an Academy Award nomination for Best International Feature Film.

uplifting, because you see that evil can be defeated.
inspiring, for all kind humans in battle against evil.
thought provoking, why are Snowden , Asange and no name 1.000s world wide without "real" defense, where
the devil put them in jail run amok?

Only after pass that fire proof, Argentina is today a democracy.

The Trial of the Juntas was the first time in Universal history that civil justice convicted a military dictatorship

I loved this one. Slow burn to start but truly amazing film. Can’t recommend it enough. Multiverse, meaning of life, action, love, bagels, death and taxes, laundromat life, immigration, gay rights, hot dog fingers, googly eyes, so much more, too much. Watch it if you can.

A nice torrent is this one, just have to live with the pop ups and porn…..x….. N

I am finding "The OA" to be very compelling viewing.
    Thanks for the recommendation.
It's about NDEs, making a choice to return in order to help others, and much more.
Great cast, very thought-provoking, deeply spiritual, imaginative, but also horrifying, with scenes of psychological and physical torture, possibly similar to what MKUltra does to some of its victims.
It's a very long series, and despite great reviews and a good fan base, Netflix cancelled it after 2 seasons, leaving a cliffhanger.
Lots of spoiler here, with a detailed outline of the plot: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_OA

Taglines: 1) Life is a trip, but the afterlife is one hell of a ride. 2) An Offbeat Comedy, A Love Story, A Road Movie - But Everybody's Dead. 3) You don't know what you have until you lose it. 4) Love will always exist, even after you've "offed" yourself. 5) Nobody's Perfect.

Despondent over his breakup with Desiree, Zia slashes his wrists and goes to an afterlife peopled by suicides, a high-desert landscape dotted by old tires, burned-out cars, and abandoned sofas. He gets a job in a pizza joint. By chance, Zia learns that Desiree offed herself a few months after he did, and she's looking for him. He sets off with Eugene (an electrocuted Russian rocker) to find her, and they pick up a hitchhiker, Mikal, who's looking for the People in Charge, believing she's there by mistake. They're soon at the camp of Kneller, where casual miracles proliferate. They hear rumors of a miraculous king. Can Zia find Desiree? Then what? Where there's death there's hope.

    Has anyone mentioned RRR??

It has the same uplifting story as many other Bollywood movies; its a bromance opera, but don't let the action scenes put you off. This was like watching three compelling films back to back, split into three chapters, each one a tidy episode but I didn't stop watching; I was gripped from start to finish. It was like binge watching an awesome netflix series with three parts.

It declares from the start that this is NOT a historical fiction, it has taken artistic liberties every step of the way. Wow what a ride this is. The action is fresh and powerful without being overplayed too much, so it complements the character drama which is the main hook while watching, and the superb action sequences flow naturally. An old-school cinematic thrill with moments of shock and awe from the prowess of the characters, and a great ending.

"A marksman living in exile is coaxed back into action after learning of a plot to kill the president. Ultimately double-crossed and framed for the attempt, he goes on the run to track the real killer and find out who exactly set him up, and why."

"Bob Lee Swagger (lol, coulda put a little more thought into that name), one of the world's great marksmen and the son of a Medal of Honor recipient, is a loner living in the Rockies. He's left the military, having been hung out to dry in a secret Ethiopian mission a few years before. He's recruited by a colonel to help find a way that the President of the US might be assassinated in one of three cities in the next two weeks. He does his work, but the shot is fired notwithstanding and Bob Lee is quickly the fall guy. Wounded and hunted by thousands, he goes to ground and, aided by two unlikely allies, searches for the truth and for those who double-crossed him. All roads lead back to Ethiopia."

Was very impressed with this one, it's right up there with The Fugitive for double-cross/on-the-run/sweet-revenge movies. Maybe doesn't exactly fit the criteria for this thread but I think you'll like it nonetheless.

If there are any Columbo fans out there, I would highly recommend checking out Poker Face. It's not a movie but it's thought-provoking and uplifting nonetheless so I'm saying it qualifies Ewan, you be the judge. In typical Columbo fashion, the murder is carefully laid out in the beginning of each episode before Natasha Lyonne appears on the set. She's got all the style and quirks of the her predecessor and is a true pleasure to watch. Each episode stars some big names and serious Hollywood brass and I'm looking forward to season two.

If there are any Columbo fans out there, I would highly recommend checking out Poker Face. It's not a movie but it's thought-provoking and uplifting nonetheless so I'm saying it qualifies Ewan, you be the judge.
Firstly, thank you for bringing it to my attention I will almost certainly take a look at it sometime in the future. However it does not really qualify by the criteria I suggested in the title.

Conversely, when I saw your previous offering 'Shooter' I also initially thought 'well that doesn't qualify' but changed my mind on thinking a little deeper. It may well make people wonder again about the Kennedy assassination for example, so in that way it was thought-provoking in a good sense.

Poker Face appears to have entertainment value, but none of the other. I will ask the mods to remove the term 'thought-provoking' and see if it (kills the thread) helps.

"thought-provoking" has now been removed from the title.

Got it. Will look for more inspiring content for future posts, completely understand. Shows how dismal Hollywood is these days when those are the inspiring shows I have to post, lol.

Do TV shows count here too or is there an extra thread for that then I'd post it there? My favourite TV show on Netflix since last year is actually very uplifting and high vibrational imv.
